It sounds great but I really don't much care . I hope for the best outcome possible for the Cavs of course but my love for hoops only thrives at the college level. I am quite sure that I'm the exception but I would rather watch a good Horizon League match up before I turned on a NBA game. In fact, I don't think that I have watched an entire Cav's game all season.

Well, we'll just have to recruit even better players, then. Thats about right. His performance today was by far the best I have seen from a freshman in this conference. If OU just fills modest talent around him and adds a better post player than KVK then the Bobcats will assume the role of MAC east favorites for three years to come. If OU had any depth at all this year they would be a very tough out in Cleveland, still might be.Yes, this kid has the ability to be one of the best MAC guards ever.

Thank God! The Zips regained their confidence in Keith in just the nick of time.

Pretty well stated, When Humpty runs the point we just seem to have much more energy on the floor. I also agree with having Zeke on the floor and starting the game as well. As soon as he sat tonight NIU went right to the hole, feeding #41. That ended when Zeke came back in. It doesn't show up in the box score but his presence alone disrupts the opposing offense.
-
Solid effort ! Silas was held in check and the defense was terrific other than the sloppy ending. Roberts gets his touch back and Humpty was fantastic on both ends of the floor. The pass he made to Conyers leading to a slam was a thing of beauty.Time to head west and kick some ass !

Can explain to me why they do that so much on defense? I see it all the time with Zeke or Bardo. They play man and get their center brought out up top and beat to the basket 4-5 times a game!I really can't tell you. If we had Zeke down low we could gamble and send the 2-3 guy out and pressure knowing we had an answer in the paint. To do what he did on that play tonight was absurd. Medlock is a good, quick guard and the outcome of that play was very predictable because it left the lane vacant. Another time in the game Zeke made a pretty hook shot so what does Keith do?? That's right, sits him down with the next whistle and fatigue was not a factor. Lets not give the kid a chance to get on a roll and build his confidence.

The reason I support this team with my time, money and spirit is that I love the quality of kid that keith brings in. If a player does not meet those standards and needs to sit then so be it. This is what makes our team better than Can't St. If we had a roster like theirs with the 3 or 4 rap sheets, I wouldn't give the program a dime.If Humpty does not want to measure up we are better off in the long haul without him.Just my two cents
-
The play that broke our back was the Medlock layup with about 50 seconds left that put the Eagles up 4 and that one came straight from KD. He yelled for Bardo to go out and and pressure the Ball at the top of the key so Bardo goes out and Medlock drives right around him into a wide open lane that Bardo vacated. Ballgame.
-
Whatever reason it was, it didn't seem to bother him tonight. He spent most of his time tonight joking around on the bench. Everytime I observed him he was all smiles. If the suspension bothered Humpty it all it was not evident. He's changed a lot from the Humpty I saw last season and not for the good.

I grabbed 2 pair of the the soldier 3's and while I'm not a big fan of patent leather, they are one great looking pair of shoes. It says that they are limited to to 72 pairs but I wonder if that is per size or in general after the what the team received. As far as I know there is only one place to get them and they will set you back a bit.
-
Don't forget Justin Dobbins who is also one of the better forwards in the MAC. Medlock is not quite the player he was before he suffered some very serious injuries but he's still a damn good guard. With the talent this team has I have to wonder why they do not win more but coaching comes to mind. They do hit the glass well and defend well so this one has me worried a little. The Zips will need to bury the three ball tonight because it will be tough to score on the Eagles down low.
-
Thanks O' With the short bench for the 'Cats I would have to say that NIU is a very tempting play tonight. I am sure that they will try to speed up the tempo to take advantage of this situation. Thanks again.

It's actually been around for some time now but does not get the run that some of their spots do. Now that the Vikes are done it will probably go back to the vault. As long as you dropped by, whats the status of Devo and Kinney vs. NIU ??? Need to know for recreational purposes of course.

Give him a week, it will change. A couple of weeks ago it was Eastern Mich, I about fell off my chair.

We have a team shop??

Where have you been ? I have been missing you lately. In fact if the ref had not had to seperate you from the Bull player yesterday I would not have known you were even on the floor. I don't know where your head has been but it sure looks like you have a chip on your shoulder. I liked last years Humpty much better. Seriously, this team is in big trouble of we don't get Humpty and the McKnights in gear. McNees and Conyers are the only two stepping up right now and they need some help if this team is going to go anywhere. Zeke looked good in spurts yesterday and made a couple really assertive moves to the hoop. If he demonstrates that kind of confidence going forward he's going to be fun to watch. I really like this kid, just he needs to stop being afraid of making mistakes and looking over at Keith waiting to get chewed out. Hell, we all make mistakes so don't worry about it Zeke. You are not going to cost us any games but you sure can win us a few !Agree with the thoughts in the Buffalo thread about their arena. It's just a great place to watch a game and their students really bring it. Also a few nice hotels right across the street from campus, we could have walked to the game had we chose to and had a nice long weekend save the results of the game.I will take some exception to Keith's T yesterday. Yes he deserved it once the fat ref made his way across the floor to confront him. The ref was grandstanding and very unprofessional, 95% of all officials would have stayed in place and the T would have never happened. We lost the game because we let two guys get off like crazy. What's made this team great over the years has been our ability to hold scorers in check. I can't remember two guys going off on us for a long, long time. One last thing, we sat with Mr. and Mrs McNees yesterday. Just wanted to say that they are very nice people and we enjoyed their company.

I'm glad you brought up the officiating because they did stink. Larry Scirotto ( the little guy) is the worse piece of crap that ever picked up a whistle. I have seen him call around 15 games and am still waiting for a good game from him. The other two were not much better either. We sit just three rows behind Keith and he really gave it to him a couple of times. I am surprised he didn't get a T because he was so damn mad he was shaking as he screamed at him. I am not going to blame the loss on the refs because we had them and let them go, we just were not quite good enough. Once again, not having a reliable go-to guy really hurt us down the stretch vs. a quality opponent. As James elevated his game for the Rams we simply had nobody to step up and answer. For the 1,000th time, we'll get 'em next time.

Once again no Zips Zone Video Valpo
The Hip Zip replied to akronzips71's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I tried it a couple years back when I could not make it down to the JAR due to an injury. I could not believe how poorly executed this program was. NEVER AGAIN !I hate to keep going on and on about the Horizon, but their online broadcasting is superb and free as well. I wish the MAC could come up with a similar network. -
Yep, he's right on. One game and he's an expert on Zips BB. How on God's green earth will we be able to contain KVK? I look at all the MAC boards from time to time and not one of them has more distorted opinions than the old Bobcat Attack. The sad thing is that they really believe that they are something special. After a steady diet of cupcakes their record is pretty good but they are about to get a healthy dose of reality.I must admit though that I really love the Convo. It's a great place to watch a game.

Column Bemoans Sorry State of MAC Basketball
The Hip Zip replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
In basketball terms I measure the MAC against against the Horizon. Not long ago we were well in front of them but I think that we are now looking up at the Horizon. While Butler obviously stands out, I think the Horizon is a much better balanced league than the MAC. GB, Wright St and Milwaukee would all be upper tier teams in the MAC. Detroit has improved greatly this season with the IU transfers as well. We are 2-0 vs the Horizon this year but both Valpo and UIC will be near the basement in their league.I wish we would continue to play CSU, anybody know why we don't play the Vikes anymore ? I'd like to see more Horizon teams on our future non conference schedules. They would be good solid tests and make much sense looking at the reduced travel as well. -
This is one game where our depth may pay off big. We can run a lot of bodies in and out and have a couple of days to get ready. I also like the fact that we will have some extended time after this one to prepare for a very good R.I. team on 1/5.On their board linked above by Rowdy there is a thread that has their broadcast schedule. It appears that by signing up for "Livestream" we may be able to watch this one.

Just an outstanding defensive effort again ! I can not remember a game where we were more dominant inside going back over several years. It was very nice to see us win without depending on the 3 ball. One of the poorest officiated games I have ever watched at the Jar. When mild mannered homer Drew throws off his jacket and charges the floor you know it was bad ! Thank God we don't see Jerry Sauder much anymore as he spends most of his time over in the Horizon where the ref assignments were made as part of the return bracket buster aggreement. Between him and Dan Fouser, who also made the trip, the 2nd half was almost unwatchable. I don't know who the other ref was but he was just as bad.Despite it all, another great performance by the Zips and especially Jimmy C and Bret.

National Championship
The Hip Zip replied to bUAkronG's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
They said 10:30 tonight, right between the field house and the stadium. I am so proud of these guys and wouldn't miss it. I hope that others feel the same way and give up an hour tonight for our boys. -
National Championship
The Hip Zip replied to bUAkronG's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Thats just no way to lose a game much less the national championship. I dont want to date myself but I played with and against Michael Nanchoff's dad and uncle.Against them in high school and with them at UA under coach Dowdy .Back in the day they just kept playing until the issue was decided. Had that happened today I am confident we would have scored. We were the much better side in the 2nd half and overtime as well. I will take nothing away from Virginia as they are a fine team as well but when you play through the tourney without giving up a goal and lose something is just not right with that.I must admit that I shed a tear for our boys today. We deserved better. I encourage everybody to drive down and greet the team tonight. We have great kids and they could use some love.Prouder that ever to be a Zip !! -
I'm sure that Brett was a great athelete at Nitro WV, but to me he just looks lost out there. As a Zip he's shooting the ball at about a 30% clip, if that, and that's just not going to get it done here. It's no accident that the team excelled in the 2nd half vs Niagara, it was in part because we stuck to a nice 3 guard rotation of Humpty, Roberts and McNees.I hate to say anything bad about the kid because he does turn in a great effort and his defense has improved. I hope that he develops into a great player but if he's going to play D1 ball at the 2 or 3 position he simply must shoot it a whole lot better than he is now. I think that Brett is pressing a bit right now and forcing shots. He needs to just relax a bit on the offensive end and let the game come to him. Hopefully, Brett will be OK but he is not one of our best three guards at this time.
