Hey, did I tell you guys about my new gig as a correspondent for an Internet outfit called Football Scoop?
-
One more time: One of the worst things about being a college coach must be convincing people who don't belong in college to come to theirs.
-
IF the Zips look for a new coach, I would at least interview him. Winning at Akron isn't easy. LF at least coached at Akron and understands the difficulties. IMO, the understanding is a huge benefit for any coach coming to Akron. If the coach knows what he is facing, he can deal with it. I don't think Coach I had any idea coming here what he was getting himself into. Can't brought in a no name assistant with no head coaching experience and only a couple of years as coordinator at Oberlin of all places. He is 5-6 with one game to go. That is a miracle turnaround at Can't. LF and a lot of other guys could do the same thing at Akron. As a disclaimer, LF is personal friends with a brother of mine and gives him tickets to OSU games. He would do just fine at Akron. I read on a lot of blogs, after OSU loses...never after a win, he looks like a deer in headlights. Those are just comments by people who don't know what else to say so they all become like dogs barking. It's just noise. I'm not saying Akron should hire him just to hire him, but I would say he is good enough for the MAC and turning around a program like Akron. More than anything, I'm against defensive coaches being head coaches in the MAC. It could be LF or Joe Blow Coordinator. Who would do just fine at Akron; LF or your brother? As a disclaimer, I don't know the difference between a personal friend and a friend either. A personal relationship is one that is not associated with your job or public life. If you nitpick in regular life the way you do on this forum, it is not surprising to me that you do not know what a personal friend is. You have done gone and hurt my feelings, but at least now I know the difference between a personal friend and a friend and for that I thank you. Do you think he meant his brother of LF?

So, tell me Buckzip, are you suggesting that OSWho's record would be completely different if just Sweatervest were still in charge? You're NOT saying that! Please tell us. I think I have to go with the Cap'n -- I'd jump on Luke in a heartbeat! If Akron doesn't, somebody bigger and better will. Fick is better than any position coach in existence, and now has BigTen HC experience. Can you say that about any other serious candidate? An aside, you'll notice that this is about my first FB post of the season -- and this could be my last one -- as I have about lost all interest in the sport thanks to ICoach's destruction of the program. I'm sure there are thousands like me in NE Ohio, for whom this may be the last chance to hook their waning interest up to a defibrilator. Does Wistercil care enough to do what's required? Fick no.

You guys beat out LAKE ERIE COLLEGE!!

According to the link you posted the game is in Omaha. edit: probably better golf there than in CA.

I'm adding "short sided thinking" to my list.

I believe he may have. He believes in leaving no chain unyanked you know. Later today he may be posting another message on the SMU board just to rub a little salt in the wound. Mission accomplished. From the SMU message board: That was one serious beat down. If Akron hadn't fallen asleep there towards the end of the game the final score would have more accurately reflected how badly we got our rear ends waxed.

December 10th, 2009; a day that will go down in infamy. I wonder what ever happened to ITZ?
-
I did not watch or listen to the game today. Can someone who did tell me about the areas of improvement that were apparent today. GO ZIPS.

If given a few more minutes in the game do you think he would have scored a point or gotten a rebound.

Hey Valpo is a good team. They will definitely finish in the top half of the Horizon.
-
+1 Their tallest player is only 6'8" (if you ignore the three guys who are 7'1", 6'10" and 6'9") The 6'9 an 6'10 guys haven't played a minute fr Valpo. And the 7'1 guy averages 8 minutes a game with 1.3 PPG 2.7 RPG and 0 blocks From your mouth to God's iPad. I have a bad feeling both are in for a breakout game.

And you should be happy to learn that our gymnastics team was undefeated last year.

You don't think calling him a dog refers to his activities in Lincoln do you?

What I took from this article is that Dambrot can recruit better quarterbacks then Ianello... Funny...but at the same time sadly true. Anyways, let me be the first on here to officially welcome the three newcomers to our Zips family. Very much looking forward to seeing these three young men hone their craft in the blue and gold. Now I just have two questions: 1) Where does the extra scholarship come from? (my money would be on Michael Green transferring out at the end of the year) 2) What are the plans for the C position after Zeke runs out of eligibility? (my guess is KD breaks his tendencies a little more and goes after a JUCO) OK, you can be the first to officially welcome the three newcomers to our Zips family, but I want to be the first to unofficially welcome them, their families, close friends and casual acquaintances to our Zips family.

Why didn't CMUs double overtime loss make your list?

Very little face touching, but I wonder if he could talk if you tied his hands to his sides. Only mentioned the process once that I recall. Seems we may have replaced the process with a plan. Could not tell if he had anything stuffed down his pants. We might want to get a big table for him to sit behind at the games.

The cost of billboards can range anywhere from $700-$2,500 per month.

Wistercill and Ianello are a combo-package. If one goes, the other goes. Wistercill is a remora on the belly of Caleb Porter and Keith Dambrot. He inherited two great coaches, and TW looks really nice smiling in their respective championship photos...but he had nothing to do with their hiring or success. Wistercill was hired to: 1.) Fill a brand new football stadium, and hire a football coach that can win games 2.) Don't screw up soccer and basketball Wistercill sabotaged Brookhart's final season, holding weekly interrogations trying to get the guy to resign over some BS secondary-level recruiting violation. If Brookhart resigned, UA would save $250k in salary. UA didn't save the $250k, but he did get rid of JD after a 3-9 season. And you know what...I don't care about how the JD firing was handled. Sausage tastes great, but you never want to see how it's made. Ditto running an Athletic Department. But we didn't get a decent coach out of the deal. We aren't better program as a result. We are worse-off than after Faust, Owens or Brookhart. Way worse. The $70million dollar stadium sits empty. Gerry Faust and Lee Owens won games at UA with crap facilities. With a budget that was far below "shoestring." Brookhart won a championship. When he lost, he was usually competitive. He beat Syracuse and NC State. Ianello is horrible. His team is reaching depths that no other UA coach has seen in decades, if ever. He's been whipped back-to-back by annually woeful K.e.n.t., who fired their coach only 11 months ago. Ianello's game-day bungling has become legendary. I'd never left a Zips football game early, until Saturday. With 15 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter, I'd seen enough. To my surprise, I saw familiar face after familiar face in the parking lot. Decade+ season ticket holders by the dozens, heading back to their vehicles before the 4th quarter began. Surreal... Wistercill made his own call with Ianello. He put all his money on black...and the ball dropped on beet-red. But instead of his money on the table, it was all our money. That sucks. The inertim AD needs to fire Wistercill first, so he doesn't have to fire his friend Rob. That's the classy thing to do. Then it all begins again. If you want Hunter Yurachek's cell, just PM me. Have you thought about sending this post to Dr.P? I am vehemently disappointed in how few posts on this board include a Remora reference. You have temporarily salved my angst.

It could be much sooner than you think. I hear we are just days away from signing dozens of 4 and 5 star recruits.
