  1. I believe the young man was either self-medicating or performing a religious service.Main Entry: pro·hi·bi·tionPronunciation: \ˌprō-ə-ˈbi-shən also ˌprō-hə-\Function: nounDate: 14th century1 : the act of prohibiting by authority2 : an order to restrain or stop3 often capitalized : the forbidding by law of the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcoholic liquors except for medicinal and sacramental purposes
  2. Loeffler interviewed a couple of years ago with Tennessee and should have been hired over Dave Clawsen (who's now the HC at BG).He's a great QB coach, and has developed Tom Brady and others. Brady speaks highly of him. And he's from Barberton, so there's a local tie there. Not saying we should hire him, but would be one that would be intriguing to interview. As per that UT staff, Browning is a good one, no doubt. The two others from that staff that I would hire having followed them this year are Eddie Gran (RB/Spec Teams Coordinator) and Lance Thompson (Linebacker Coach). Both are OUTSTANDING recruiters who have really cleaned up on the recruiting trail this year. Gran in particular has developed a few RB's that you might have heard about, esp. Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams. Thompson will move up the coaching ladder as time goes on, he is a very impressive personality and has done a great job with the LB's at Tennessee this year, esp. with all of their injuries.A couple other names from the South would be interesting. Gary Crowton is one of the two finalists for the Memphis job, and he's the OC at LSU. Also, Hugh Freeze, the current HC at Lambuth University. I know that this season has been a BIG disappointment, but the one difference that Akron has now compared to the last coaching search is the football facilities in place. If the adminstration is willing to pay the money for a good coach (and I know that's a big if), then things could really take off.Yes, think how good Notre Dame could be if they just paid their coach more. Weis is actually paid less than you think. Akron can't continue to pay a bottom-ten coaching salary if they want to have any chance of success.I think that your thinking about my thinking may be in error. How much do you think I think he is getting paid?
  3. I believe we are still one of the top 10 Division I programs in Ohio.

  5. Why does it suck? Specifically, what does a fan actually see when they watch a game?I'm not trying to be silly or anything like that. It's important to get these issues out in the open for fans so they understand where the league is and why it is the way it is and why it really needs to start doing things differently. No right or wrong answers.I said it in my post - MAC teams will not spend what it takes to be successful in D1-A football. If you want to be like Temple and turn around decades of losing - spend the f*ucking money. If you want to lose, if you want a "great" season to be 7-5, then keep your coaching salaries in the bottom 10% of D1-A football. If you want to be successful in D1-A football, it isn't just the outermost bill that needs to be a $100. The inner ones need to be too.You get what you pay for. That is the right answer. Any other answers are wrong. As we approach Thanksgiving, I am just thankful that you wrote "f*ucking" because if you had written fu*cking people may have figured out the word you were disguising and that would have been a fucking shame.
  6. Thanks.I hope TBA turns into I-AA.Keep Syracuse.Drop either KY or IN (whichever pays less) and pick up another I-AA team. Actually, try to drop both and pick up a non-BCS D-1A team. We need to get out of playing 3 BCS level teams in a year. There is no reason to guarantee losing three games. The cycle of losing needs to stop and it needs to start with scheduling. Let's try to avoid three road games in a row next year as well. It's time to start winning. Let's put ourselves in a position to win and turn losers into winners.I agree completely with what you said about scheduling, but we can't change it for next year. We owe Indiana and Kentucky a road game, and it would be dumb to dump a home game with Syracuse after already having played two games in their dome.I do want a 1-AA team to fill in the open spot.I think that football needs to never schedule a Big Ten team again. I don't mind if we schedule a payday game, just make it somewhere interesting to travel to.I think the Kid just called you dumb.
  7. racecar spelled backwards is racecarSame with TacocatI beg to differ. Tacocat spelled backwards does NOT spell racecar.
  8. It's likely you are correct about the Cinci game since it was originally announced as part of a 2 for 1 deal.

We need to start a season as winners, not losing to BCS schools and starting every season 0-3. It's demoralizing to everyone but the treasurer.I didn't realize the Treasurer http://www.treas.gov/offices/treasurer/ was a Zips fan.
  10. With UConn's thrashing of the Irish yesterday the future coaching situation at UA is becoming much clearer. I expect an announcement in the not to distant future that the U will be hiring Jim Dennison as HC. Not that they actually want him to coach, but so that we can continue a tradition and fire him to then hire Charlie Weis.
  11. I was thinking the same thing.
  12. Bring back Gerry.
  13. The Zipmeister generally does not make predictions on trap games for the Zips. We sure stuck our foot in this one.
  14. Smart money would dictate that one give the points and take Temple, but I have a feeling the Zips will win by 14.
  15. Which part looks weird to you: "Kicking it with Freddie" or "Louisville 09 men's soccer" ?
  16. This sounds good to me, because as any Zips fan knows: We own Huber Heights! Our most recent recruits from there were NSCAA and Parade All-Americas Kofi Sarkodie and Chad Barson. --edit-- Gozips.com shows Barson from Lewis Center in Columbus area, but I thought that he and Kofi were both Huberians, and they played together for several years prior to Akron. So...Keith should be consulting with Caleb -- if he can get on Caleb's schedule -- regarding the twin recruiting targets from Dayton's NE side. Let's set our roots in Huber Heights.Hugh Briar Heights - The largest community of brick homes in the nation.
  17. I hope you don't use that as a real life strategy UAkronkid. You will lose your shirt.
  18. I'm not sure I buy this argument. In fact, I've never really bought into the hysteria around JD's recruiting. It was a concern, but well down the list of problems. It doesn't jive with the current level of talent on the field. The assumption is there would be no talent on the field and that just isn't the case.JD's biggest problem is his inability to win with the talent on the field. The talent on the field is at least enough to win the MAC East. The kids that never made it to the field don't seem to have an impact on this.I hope the players keep their heads up. Help is on the way.....we hope.I know I'm opening a giant can of worms, but we heard the same thing about Lee Owens. That being said, I think it has gone deeper than just the talent on the field. The man has a difficult making decisions. Just think about our QB'earlier this season, our punters and our place kickers. I think JD has a tough time making that final decision.I really don't know how you can reach the conclusion that he "has a difficult making decisions." From what I can tell he has made every decision required of him. Unfortunately, the results of some of his decisions have been disappointing.
  19. That I know of Akron has not, and will not be playing CSU this year. Exhibition or otherwise. Other than the possible Bracketbuster or tournament game. Nice try though. As for the quote from Dambrot about not being very good right now, the Beacon Journal website has a preview of tomorows game up that contains such a quote. Dambrot is well known to be pretty critical of his teams. This isn't the first time we've heard tempered expectations from the coaching staff over the last few years. Keep on trolling though. Maybe you'll catch something. It was a scrimmage last Saturday Quick.
  20. Like you, I really don't want to know what he did to the rest of the stuff you were served. He wasn't serving my table. Good thing too, because the Great GP1 would have had him shine his shoes before he left......."Hey Can't grad....Go get your shine box."Right..... you have never worked in a restaurant, have you? It gives me the willies just thinking about the stuff you chewed and swallowed.
  21. Well this is to be expected. The Horizon is a much tougher conference than the MAC. In a Horizon/MAC challenge, the MAC would likely finish 2 and 10 and the two MAC wins would only be because the Horizon League only has 10 teams.
  22. Like you, I really don't want to know what he did to the rest of the stuff you were served.
  23. What has to be going through Brian Kelly's brain right now? Notre Dame or Akron, Notre Dame or Akron, Akron or Notre Dame?
  24. Rosa Parks became active in the civil rights movement 12 years before the famous bus incident, and was an active member of both the NAACP and Voters League. I'm sure that she was worn out after a hard day of work, as most working people are. But if she ever said that the only reason that she didn't give up her seat on that bus was because she was too tired to walk to the back of the bus, I'm sure she said it with a wink and a nod. Those who really knew her have said over the years that she had a wonderful sense of humor, and fought the civil rights battles with grace and dignity.I was wondering how long it would take for someone to call Rosa a liar. This is a stupid argument. As a History major i can tell you that there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Rosa Parks had indeed planned her move and only days before the incident had met with other civil rights leaders/activists at a meeting headed by RCNL leader TRM Howard. This is not even mentioning the multiple instances of other African Americans doing the same thing years before Rosa Parks did, all of which Parks had direct knowledge of as she worked with the NAACP. Regardless of if it was planned or not, it was a bold move for a woman to make.Your argument isn't stupid. It's just that like the others you believe stuff you read whereas my information comes from the source.
