  1. Alabama plays in the toughest conference in college football. They go undefeated beating many ranked opponents along the way. They smoke the number 1 team in the country in their conference championship game. They beat the number 2 team in the country by double digits and you think Boise State is #1? I really don't get it?I didn't realize Bama had transferred to the Big 12.
  2. Or maybe he made the mistake of saying exactly what he is planning to do.....It makes absolutely no sense for a non-qualifier attend Akron, then transfer. No one does that in Division 1 college football. Anywhere.I agree. It makes no sense, but who says a high school kid with a sub-par intellect has to make sense? I have a feeling the Zips should take a pass on this kid. Something doesn't seem right.Duh, do ya think? After his NFL football career, he wants to be either a brain surgeon or a fry cook.
  3. I predict the Texas quarterback will be knocked out of the game in their first offensive series. It doesn't matter. The horns will definitely win by 14.
  4. Being old and not "from" Akron I have no idea what you just said.Could you translate that for the benefit of a senior citizen (the last time I saw a Zips game in person it was Len Paul, Larry Quarles and Larry "Jinx" Jenkins on the court). And Danny Ruff and Jack Beidelmann on the girdiron.Hey 71, Don't feel bad. You may be too old to understand an incomprehensible phrase, but unlike these young whippersnappers you realize that if this years bball team had anyone as good as Leonard Paul we would have beaten RI. Don't even get me started on Beidelmann. He was a magician on the fball field.YAY another old guy!Yup, those were the days, sort of. Being an independent in Div II sucked, but we did have some fun losing to Terry Bradshaw and Earl Monroe! But for the record, I think this team will tear thru the MAC if they can just get more consistent. It looked (on the crappy Akron ISP network) like they were shocked they were ahead and tried to get too cute with their passes, which you can not do with a team of this caliber. If they had Jinx Jenkins in the backcourt.......Len Paul, I saw him match up against Bruce Smith of Buffalo and he went pro, eventually became a Knick.I was in Memorial hall to watch Winston Salem play the Zips. I dont remember the exact number, but we held the Pearl to about his season average (around 52).
  5. I agree with Quick. Saying Rhode Island is superior to the Zips is like saying the Zips are superior to Furman.
  6. That logic is bizarre. This season is absolutely in no way, shape or form solely about winning the MAC Tournament. Why but season tickets to see the Zips? Who cares...the season is only about the MAC Tourney? Right? Why listen to the Zips on the radio? Who cares...the games through early-March are entirely irrelevant? Right? It is funny...in Dambrot's pre-game interview he stated -"This game is key to our post-season aspirations." Play the tape. He said it, not me. He knows what he's talking about.Instead of answering the question of whether or not we'd have received an NCAA bid if we'd have beaten URI, answer this question - "How would beating an upper-tier A-10 team have looked to the NIT selection committee?" Pretty damn good. If we'd have had a win like that when we were 26-7, we'd have been in the NIT, instead of watching it on TV.How would it have looked to the ESPN Bracket Buster committee if we'd have beaten an upper-tier A-10 team? Pretty damn good. How would it have looked to Joe Akron for the Zips to have won their 7th straight game, having beaten an upper-tier A-10 team for win #11? Pretty damn good. For all you attendance grousers, look at the above. Learn something. Quit parroting your tired old diatribe. There's a reason we get 3k. We don't do the things required to get 4k. Or 5k. We schedule mediocre-ly, and the few marquee games we get...we lose. How many years will the Zips be the team losing to someone with "X losses, and more talent"? When does it change? When do we turn into the team that makes the halftime adjustments necessary to build on our 2nd half leads, rather than squander them with our on-court anxiety attacks?I don't buy that Rhode Island is so much more talented than the Zips. We had then by 9 points with 15 minutes remaining. We had the lead for 75% 0f the game. If URI is so great...so much more talented than the Zips...how is that possible?Crapped Down Our Leg™Yes, and how come when you pour cream into coffee it rises to the top rather than actually being on top 100% of the time?
  7. I'll go with BGSU by 14.
  8. Yes things are looking good. The Zips are now rated as the best team in over 93% of Ohio (82 of 88 counties) by Sagarin. Team National RankDayton 36Cinn. 48Xavier 50tOSU 58WSU 85K.SU 98OU 114Zips 131MU 170CSU 194BG 196YSU 241UT 302
  9. I think we can win the NCAA tournament.

  11. When you have a board filled with guys who don't know the difference between to, too, and two. or the difference between then and than, how could we not talk about "evil in thw world"
  12. OK. Just don't tell us at seasons end that you predicted before conference play started that we would finish with less than 10 losses.
  13. Yes really tough. The official line will probably be about 12. I say give the points cause the Zippers will win by 14.
  14. Good chance he will wind up at Tennessee. They have several openings
  15. Yes. Someone taller.
  16. Okay, I'm ready to go out on a limb, and predict Li'l Rhodey leaves Akron with a 10-3 record, and on the ropes.Well so much for that prediction. You better leave the prognostications to the experts. The Meister says Zips by 14.
  17. Actually, with regard to seeing what people can do, there is no statistically significant difference between seeing what people do second hand compared to seeing what they do first hand.
  18. I think we need to get a leg up on other schools: forget high school relations cause lots of schools are doing that. We need someone in charge of junior high /middle school relations. This is the only way we will get ahead. But we already do that. How many middle-school and grade school kids have we seen at the JAR doing some crappy dance routine as the half-time "entertainment" for basketball games? Are you saying we should start recruiting dancers as football players or are you saying we should hire the person who has lined up this talent for the basketball games as the junior high/middle school relations person for the football team?
  19. I'm the last person to cast a stone, but I think with the rumors of pervasive steroid use by Liechtenstieners we should avoid this potential PR nightmare.
  20. That's what it is.... area distractions.Time is running out for nominees for the 2009 yard nome post of the year. The Browns games aren't a distraction, then? Wasn't there a conversation on this board about Zips fans going to those games or watching them on TV instead of being at the JAR?Don't forget the Summit Mall.
  21. I find the farther South I go, the smarter I get.
  22. What about Uruguay?Last time I checked Uraquay was still in South America.
  23. The RI game is an important litmus test. It will help answer the question, "does playing an OOC schedule as weak as ours help prepare a team to play a quality opponent?"
  24. Florida! Texas!! California!!!Each of those ponds are already overfished. If you want to make recruiting inroads, start recruiting internationally. True - few young men from these countries have football experience but lots of upside. Get your Lineman from Eastern Europe, recievers from Africa, linbackers from Russia (Russian mob connections would be a plus), running backs from Jamaca, kickers from South America, etc. Of course I,m not saying we shouldn't go after a talented guy from say Norway or Figi, but most of them are better at golf.
  25. And she is hot after UAkronkid even if he was unaware of her accomplishments.
