  1. This is some of the best input offered in this thread. Your plan worked for years in basketball at Cincinnati, but they ended up firing Huggins anyway.
  2. Are you serious? Are you listening to the InfoCision grass intern again? Or the guy that reported Patrick Nicely's broken ankle?Where was Nick Saban before Toledo? Gary Pinkel before Toledo? Urban Meyer before BG? Randy Walker before Miami? Brady Hoke before Ball State? There are a million examples of BCS assistants who became highly, HIGHLY successful MAC coaches.AHA. UAkronkid suckered you in there Capt. He said could you name JUST three coaches, and you could not.
  3. I just saw an interesting headline about Tebow. It sort of plays into his crying on the sidelines after losing. "Tebow turns whine into water."Great player, but I've had enough......Well one thing in Tim's favor. I can absolutely guarantee you that you will never hear that he has been cheating on his wife with another woman. The way that offensive lineman was running his fingers through his hair while he was crying makes me think you may be right. He may never have a wife to cheat on.Seriously, never say never. Just ask Tiger.Your getting warmer.
  4. Sometimes a coach will lose a job for their off-field performance rather than their won/loss record. That doesn't make throwing them out unjust.

  6. Despite a slow start, Sagarin still (thru yesterdays game) has us rated as the second best team in the northern half of Ohio. Team National Rank tOSU 11Cinn 30Xavier 37Dayton 60Wright State 83Can't State 111Ohio 127Zips 147Miami 162YSU 199CSU 209BG 244Toledo 301
  7. You know your not having a good year when you play less snaps than Bain.
  8. Yes, I CAN spell facetious. But for the record, teams like Texas Tech and Hawai'i don't have a tight end on their rosters.I don't believe teams without tight ends would qualify for this particular record.
  9. Like a U.S Army GPS guided air to surface missile.
  10. I have to go with Root on this one. Our time may be better spent talking about the talent on the rifle team and club baseball.
  11. I'll probably take some flack for this also, but can we stop the artist analogies. Most of the guys on the soccer team wouldn't know a brayer from a filbert.
  12. I don't think we could lure Frank Solich away from Ohio.
  13. I heard that this year Akron may have set a Division I record for fewest pass attempts to a tight end in a season. Can anyone confirm that we are in the record book for this?
  14. Yes, I forgot to mention, in addition to internship possibilities this could be the first step in the University's plans to control the market. Today, Exchange street, tomorrow the World. lol@world marketSeriously though, scarcity of outside competition in a small geographical area is not a new concept. A la, a ballpark, stadium, theater, or theme park. The "captive audience" so to speak. But it wasn't my point to sound conspiratorial. Just to say, if your plans and decisions could also increase scarcity of access, it could be to your benefit.Scarcity of access. One of my most favorite terms learned at the Nation. To increase scarcity of access I suggest surrounding the campus with a moat. It could turn into Ohio's answer to the River Walk. I like it. :thumb:We can ditch my wacky monorail idea for some gondolas and paddle boats!Your monorail idea was not wacky. It's just that if you have a stop at lets say the football stadium, this would not increase scarcity of access. I suggest we run the monorail directly above the moat, but the only stop for it should be at the parking deck. This would give people a chance to view campus (and the moat) without decreasing scarcity of access.

  17. As my friend Vito used to say (usually right around the time somebody was getting whacked) , "It's not personal, it's just business."
  18. Yes, ground floor retail is a pimptastic idea. They should do the same thing with all the academic buildings. Some may rightfully criticize your idea claiming that it isn't the business of a University to be a commercial real estate landlord, but your suggestion would increase students ability to shop while going to or coming from class and perhaps give business majors conveniently located internship possibilities.
  19. Congratulations on a great win. Way to finish the season on a positive note. Does anyone have any pictures of the game they can share with us who were unable to attend? I can hardly wait till next year.
  20. I predict that on Friday Akron will increase their number of wins for the season by 50%. Also I believe the official spread may be a tad high. Look for a 14 point ZIP victory.
  21. Yeah, everyone thinks Dambrot's a bum. It was funny...consistent with many quotes from last season...Dambrot's post-game comments to Frenchie after beating Drake began with a slight to the fans. The general theme was - "No one remembers how many games we won over the past 6 years...everyone thinks when we start 0-2 that we stink."They guy is always complaining about lack of support...never showing much gratitude for the many loyal followers he's got.I guess it is simply a motivational thing for him. He convinces himself that everyone thinks he's a bum, and that motivates him to be his best. But it isn't true.Like t or not, we all love Keith Dambrot and want him to stay at UA for as long as he wants to be here. I hope I didn't ruin his primary motivational tool by saying that. I agree. I have never understood KD's comments about the fans. Criticizes those that show up and those that do not show up.On the other hand, it fits right into the UA way. UA wants to be big time, yet how many are prepared to pay the price. A part of paying the price is accepting criticism by the fans, if you want to call it that. That said, sure fans get pissed if we lose, yet I have never heard even one fan say anything more disparaging than the list of comments KD made after the AP loss. As CK pointed out, if even one fan made those same comments, he may get banned from entering the JAR. (or the board)I don't understand it..never will. Personally, if I had his won/loss record at a DI school, I would gladly accept ten thousand fans calling me out. At least it shows they give a damn. And giving a damn about UA anything is hard to find!!!Perhaps at one time he wanted to be a priest. An acquaintance tells me that at his church the sermon is the same each week. You are all sinners, you are all going to hell, be sure and come back next week. Sound familiar?
  22. I believe the young man was either self-medicating or performing a religious service.Main Entry: pro·hi·bi·tionPronunciation: \ˌprō-ə-ˈbi-shən also ˌprō-hə-\Function: nounDate: 14th century1 : the act of prohibiting by authority2 : an order to restrain or stop3 often capitalized : the forbidding by law of the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcoholic liquors except for medicinal and sacramental purposes
  23. Loeffler interviewed a couple of years ago with Tennessee and should have been hired over Dave Clawsen (who's now the HC at BG).He's a great QB coach, and has developed Tom Brady and others. Brady speaks highly of him. And he's from Barberton, so there's a local tie there. Not saying we should hire him, but would be one that would be intriguing to interview. As per that UT staff, Browning is a good one, no doubt. The two others from that staff that I would hire having followed them this year are Eddie Gran (RB/Spec Teams Coordinator) and Lance Thompson (Linebacker Coach). Both are OUTSTANDING recruiters who have really cleaned up on the recruiting trail this year. Gran in particular has developed a few RB's that you might have heard about, esp. Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams. Thompson will move up the coaching ladder as time goes on, he is a very impressive personality and has done a great job with the LB's at Tennessee this year, esp. with all of their injuries.A couple other names from the South would be interesting. Gary Crowton is one of the two finalists for the Memphis job, and he's the OC at LSU. Also, Hugh Freeze, the current HC at Lambuth University. I know that this season has been a BIG disappointment, but the one difference that Akron has now compared to the last coaching search is the football facilities in place. If the adminstration is willing to pay the money for a good coach (and I know that's a big if), then things could really take off.Yes, think how good Notre Dame could be if they just paid their coach more. Weis is actually paid less than you think. Akron can't continue to pay a bottom-ten coaching salary if they want to have any chance of success.I think that your thinking about my thinking may be in error. How much do you think I think he is getting paid?
