  1. Three observations After watching today’ s game against Bryant, I firmly believe the Zips can turn in a winning record next season. Heck, they could even go undefeated. All they have to do is keep their current squad together, drop to FCS, and carefully schedule against the worst teams in the division. Looked like a pretty good crowd in attendance today; on espn3 it looked like there were 100’s of butts in the seats. Bet the U is earning hundreds and hundreds of dollars covering seats with big advertising banners.
  2. This is monumental. Can anyone name the last time the Zip football team was involved in back-to-back 1 point games?
  3. Wow, an 85% chance against a team from the NEC.. The Bulldogs are in the same conference as the bobcat-slayers of Duquesne. While Bryant is not as good as the Dukes, they routinely go up against powerhouses like the bobcat slayers.
  4. I stopped by the Bryant web site and checked out their roster. They have much more experience than the Zips but are tiny. If we don't control both lines of scrimmage we don't just have a problem, we have a REAL problem. One worry. I remember back in the 70s the Zip's defensive line was frequently outweighed by 50 pounds a man and somehow they outplayed their bigger opponents. Hope the fighting (miniature) Bulldogs don't do the same.

  7. The hall monitor has gone and hurt my feelings again. We were wondering if one of your grand kids had made that post using your account.
  8. Has this happened yet?
  9. How did you miss "I chimes in"?
  10. I have a hunch your grandson is, at best, third on the depth chart because it is highly unlikely that second teamers didn't make it into either of the first two games. Look at the bright side; if he doesn't get put into more than four games this year his red shirt year is preserved and maybe if he gains some weight and strength he will be able to play for a different head coach. BTW, what is the name of the OL who you believe is doing an impersonation of a sieve?
  11. I hope the coaches drop down into the depth chart and your grandson gets into a game soon.
  12. So the game was played on a Saturday in what (from a distance) appeared to be great football weather, so at least attendance must have been good, right?
  13. I believe his point was quite clear; all athletic directors and NCAA administrators are incompetent.
  14. It is my understanding that the teams academic performance has improved dramatically under the current coaching staff.
  15. The Zips are getting plenty of early season national attention. ESPN has this game as their pillow fight of the week. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/32167121/a-kansas-win-means-there-new-no-1-college-football-bottom-10N https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-12-expansion-how-adding-byu-cincinnati-houston-ucf-may-change-college-footballs-power-structure/ Hit this link, then pan down (a lot) to see the Zips at number 2 in the CBS Sports bottom 25.
  16. AHA! In this case, I fear what we may have going on is an example of nice guys finishing last.
  17. How are you aware of his two head coaching recommendations? Were they both positive recommendations? I find it incredible to even see their two names in the same sentence. Personally, I wouldn't want Gase as Akron's head coach because the air would be filled with so many flying pigs it would be impossible to walk outside without getting pooped on.
  18. This problem is not unique to Akron. Research indicates that almost without exception University Boards spend almost all their time changing the uniforms for their football team.
  19. UCLA tried putting University of California Los Angeles on their helmets, but decided not to because it wrapped around the entire helmet in a font too small to read from more than a few feet away. LSU had a similar idea, but elected to go with the acronym when nobody at the school could actually spell Louisiana.
  20. From ESPN Akron Rushing CAR YDS AVG TD LONG Jonzell Norrils 12 22 1.8 0 7 Anthony Williams Jr. 6 10 1.7 0 3 DJ Irons 6 2 0.3 0 9 Kato Nelson 11 -13 -1.2 0 9 Team 1 -24 -24.0 0 0 TEAM 36 -3 -0.1 0 9 I see it took a team effort to lose 24 yards on one play.
  21. I was thinking a script Akron is a logo.
  22. No winner in the quiz as nobody selected "negative" rushing yardage.
  23. When did they do that? In the late 60s/early 70s it was a nice letter sweater.
