Congratulations on having mastered the double negative. Clayton would not necessarily be proud.
-
I was surprised that Clayton made a point to mention that Akron does not have an elite (I hope just cross country) program when he said, “It's hard to kind of deny that Akron isn't an elite program in the country and to continue to put limitations on it or take away support is just completely disappointing and shouldn't happen." He could have made his point without putting down the Akron program. Maybe he didn’t mean to say what was quoted about the Akron program. I’m hopeful that is the case because I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean to say that everything about the Olympic trial race surprised him when he said, “So there wasn't anything that didn't catch me by surprise to be off the back the way I did and close the way I did."

This can be done. First, announce that everyone attending each football game will be entered in a million dollar lottery. Of course they must be in attendance to win. Do not make it clear that the payment will amount to $1 per year for a million years. Figure 6 home games a season; that's a measly $6 a year to fill the place up. If you think it would help, the payoff could be accelerated to $5 per year for 200,000 years, but now the U would be liable for $30 per year which may put off some university higher ups. If the lucky winners don't want to wait for the entire payout they can sell their annuity to one of those outfits (e,g. JG Wentworth) that purchase them. It's a win/win situation. You are welcome.

Outer Tackle U -
And if a rumor I heard is true (G5 selection will be based on team GPA) Akron has a decent chance of being that one G5 program.

Interesting get. On Hudl it shows that between 2017 and 2021 he played for Buchtel, Massillon and SVSM; including all three schools in 2020! 247sports, where it is claimed he had offers from Central Michigan and Kent State, gives him 2 stars and has a nice photo of him in a Kent St. shirt. -
Assessing Coach Arth (and his staff)

I'm not sure so I asked my Magic Eight Ball and it replied "ask again later." I remember the year that the Zips won the MACC they had a tight end that nobody on this board seemed to care for much. I liked him; thought he was very athletic, but they almost never targeted him. Then in the MACC game they did he made some really good catches and looked like he was ready for the NFL. Why Akron has a habit (through multiple head coaches) of ignoring their tight ends is a mystery and a shame. -

He played tackle for Toledo and these skills should transfer nicely to coaching our outer tackles. -
I agree, that would definitely knock him down to a B+.
-
I didn't say anything about firing the guy; my point is your evaluation of him is outrageously high. All factors considered, C- is closer to the mark.
-
Giving any coach an A- or strong A for building the team that performed at a D- level is highly suspect.
-
You would give an A- or strong A to the guy who coached the Zips to 6 wins (and a few embarasing losses) over non D1 teams; whose team ended the year ranked (by D1 baseball) at 286 out of the 293 D1 teams that played a game during the season!!! For that to make sense you are going to have to invent a brand new grading scale where A- is the worst possible score. Fortunately, NCAA rules prevented the Zips from scheduling any women's softball teams. Regarding future Akron opponents; Oakland (ranked 264), Northern Kentucky (253) and Purdue Fort Wayne (271) are exacttly the type of OOC team Akron should be scheduling (D1, relatively close by, and not very good) rather than teams from lower divisions.
-
If you can tell that he has a filthy curveball from a single photograph you have amazing eyesight. As teams start to qualify for the NCAA tourney it has become apparent that the Zips are only approximately 250 tragic bus accidents away from qualifying in the first year of their return to competition. GO ZIPS.

Only 102 days till our pounding of Auburn. I pity the fools because they have no idea what's coming for them. I'm so excited my belly button won't quit puckering and unpuckering

I think he may have intentionally used the wrong word to distract you from noticing his faulty verb usage and unusual capitalization. -
Apparently the folks in the athletic department listened to my mom who frequently told me "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
-
Simply amazing.

It was an odd day in MAC baseball. Ten conference teams in 5 interconference doubleheaders - all five of which were split.

Some people are going to be impressed by this; most of their line weigh in the 300 pound range.

BOOM Beat a D1 team with a winning record. Look out college world series; here we come.

Just for the heck of it I took a look at the Zips 2021 football roster. Not counting the 2 guys you mention (or any other late additions) there are 101 players listed. What a disturbing breakdown by class: 6 Sr or R-Sr, 14 Jr or R-Jr, 24 So or R-So, and 57 Fr or R-Fr. I haven't checked it out but have a strong suspicion there aren't many D1 teams younger than the Zips. Don't think our youth is going to make it any easier to win games this year. -

Synonyms for tight end at Akron include: decoy, outer tackle, and really outer guard. -

I will kind of believe it when I see his name on the Zip's roster. -
OK, so the Flashes aren't playing up to their normal standard this season; still I was surprised by the split Saturday and it feels good.
