  1. Agreed, great team win. Great work by the players and coaches to respond to the adversity entering the game and in the game. Crazy turn of events throughout with a gritty W for the good guys. Thank goodness Ashton's game out of the lineup is vs St Francis with his returning for Georgetown.
  2. I’m sure Charles cringes every time he sees me wearing the A Roo. 😝
  3. I don't think you can solely ask about the Porter years v now. From 2013-18, our ZipsMSoc team was quite successful under Jared, with 3 College Cup appearances, including one title game appearance. When did the financial situation get this bad? Have the Head Coach and AD talked about most critical needs? Is the Department of Development engaged? (I don't hear from them unless I call, which I quit doing. They come across as uninterested.) Agreed. The talent pool has changed, but our coaching hasn't seemed to change with it. We're no longer able to defeat teams with our "elite" style of play. Looking at the stats, our team has outplayed most of our opponents other than blOSU, which is looking better than expected. The little extra from our players and coaches matter more than ever.
  4. I suggest that you call Charles and set up a meeting to discuss. It would be nice if the "awesome" staff he hired did their jobs like the previous staff and actually reached out to the fan base to fund raise for Men's Soccer. Of course, it would also be helpful if the coach was engaging of the whole fan base as Porter was. The Akron way of just schmoozing large donors continues to not work well; as the old adage goes, you have to spend money to make money. Akron Ath and Dev Depts need to be willing to provide some bling at lower donation levels...e.g., accept that you may only get 70% return on donations by using 30% to provide sport specific gear at lower donation levels but get more donors invested. Inform the fan base and build their willingness to help.
  5. Being concerned about the choice the AD might make is not reason to stay with this trajectory. Who thought when Ken Lolla left, we would do better?
  6. A couple of guys falling asleep? How about the head coach sleeping on the bench???!!! One sub in the first half on a hot, sunny day? Really? The other coach understood the weather and his team and made subs in the last 15-20 minutes of the first half to not only rest his guys but get other players into the flow of the game before the crucial waning minutes. Bench full of players our coaches recruited, and only 1 is worthy to be subbed into the game? BEYOND PEE POOR!!! I'm with @Let'sGoZips94, I'm seeing a "comfortable" coaching staff who who are unjustifiably arrogant. All I hear is "this player" and "that player" hurt or didn't do x, y, or z. WTF coaches? Isn't your job to coach these players? If they're not doing x, y, or z, it's because you're not coaching them effectively! Get off your collective @rses ... coach and manage the game.
  7. Game mismanaged. 1 sub at the end of the first half. Really? WtF did you recruit those talented players sitting on the bench? I feel awful for our players who worked so hard and deserved better than they got from the bench. coaches need to take a hard look at themselves and how they manage games.
  8. Actually, there was an "I believe we will win" chant as the clock was winding down.
  9. Happy to see Remi available and get into the game. I liked what we saw and am looking forward to seeing more of him. https://gozips.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/remi-agunbiade/9447
  10. I hear you, but it's sad to find ourselves here. Not too long ago ties were unacceptable regardless of some opinion poll ranking.
  11. There's OT in tournaments because each game requires a team to advance. In the regular season, as in the pros (regular season and group stage), points awarded for wins and draws determine conference tournament seedings. If you look back at 2019 as an example, OT may not be the answer to improving the ZMSOC record. 6-10-2: 2 OT losses, 2 OT draws, 0 OT Wins, I believe.
  12. It seems to me that the coaches should adjust the system / formation for the players we have. As Jared said in an earlier press conference, it is his to figure out the pieces and how they fit. Players don't decide when they sit on the bench. They are accountable for their actions on the field, but the coaches are accountable for putting them there.
  13. ... Preach!
  14. This pussyfooting around in front of our own goal has become commonplace. Not how a well-coached team plays.
  15. apparently. I can’t understand coaching or that crap passing in front of our own goal mouth. Zips looked much better last afternoon when they were focused on the field in front of them. no problem with the purposeful pass backs to reset but not the lazy back passes and lazy passes across our goal mouth. 🤬
  16. I'm out of likes. Great to see the stats that confirm what we saw ... our Zips playing the better game. Got homered as I mentioned. Fouls and cards not called on WMU. Ashton Kamdem badly hurt but our Zips finish the match down a player; not WMU. That ref crew was worse than awful.
  17. For those who may not understand LetsGoZips94 Brian Kelly reference (a friend asked me) https://www.espn.com/college-football/news/story?id=6219373
  18. Not sure why you find that strange when you seem to know who I am. I have a "handle" here because it is a message board, but I've made posts from my twitter account confirming who I am. It's ok with me that you and others know. My statement is that I haven't figured out who you are other than YipaZip (not that I've really thought much about it).
  19. I don't know who you are YipaZip. Obviously, you're entitled to your opinion as well. If you want to bury your head and accept the trajectory our Mens soccer program is on, so be it. But, I think if you look at the history of this program, you will find that others were able to do well despite the adversity which you prop up as excuses. I don't post on BigSoccer and don't often read it, but Jared should feel the heat that folks have posted about there. In the past, he would not have accepted this trajectory. I don't know what has seemingly changed, but it is his to fix even if that means shaking up his staff. Nothing should be off the table.
  20. Not my relationship with the assistants. The assistants' relationships with the players is what matters to me. Understanding what motivates players and how to help them feel confident but not arrogant. Unlike others, I'm not writing a diatribe here. I've lost confidence in how our assistants work with our players and the effect that they have on attitude. I also have concerns about potential group think among our coaches.
  21. Yeah I did, and it's more about my lack of confidence in our current assistants than the items you're recalling. Putting it out there for you and anyone else who wants to whitewash over where this program has been heading with the current staff.
