Congratulations to our Zips, especially the seniors, for a great win on Senior night. Need to continue to focus with 3 of the four remaining games on the road. Hope the week between games helps heal from some of the bumps last night. GO ZIPS!!!

He was a young contributor in 2014, where his famous breakout performance against Eden Hazard and Belgium put him on the map. He was then the calming veteran of the 2022 group which featured a team loaded with young stars. In between, though, Yedlin proved that he was one heck of a player, one with pace to burn that could make any defense uncomfortable. Yedlin has amassed 91 caps for the USMNT, with the first coming just months before the World Cup. He was a shock inclusion that summer, but he proved himself worth time and time again. A key player throughout some of those down years, Yedlin was the perfect veteran to help lead the new generation back to a World Cup.

Thanks whatever coaches’ family member you are. Happy you’re standing up for your relatives. It’s awesome to win a few games. Not arguing with that but relying on Mitch Budler to stand on his head every game as well as team saves is not going to lead to post season success. Not likely to go far post season playing like this. But please continue being drunk on a few W’s. 🤪 Pro teams, including the beloved Arsenal, use more subs than the Zips.

it happens when you say that the blue chip players that used to go to college don’t, but you don’t change your coaching approach. Incredible lack of subs. Players tire and don’t play consistently. Very happy for this win but having only 13 maybe 14 players get game action doesn’t seem to be setting up for a long post season run. Where are Guardeiro, Barboto, Dobrijevic, Buebendorf, ….? Happy to see Jack Roman getting significant minutes he deserves. Glad to see Nicolas Beier.

Not baseless character assassination but mindful observation of his interactions with self and others. Never mind a number of his peers refer to him as Chuckles (clown). But, please continue to live in your fantasy world.

Zip keeper Mitch Budler came up with a pair of saves, but the best chance was a wide-open look from junior Zach Zengue in the middle of the box. His shot was stopped by a sliding block from a Zip defender. It was Zengue with another good look early in the second half, but his shot to the left post was saved off of the line by an Akron defender. Minutes later, GU looked to have the equalizer on freshman Tate Lampman'sheader off of a corner. However, the left hand of Budler managed to snag it to get the stop. Corner kicks were dangerous for GU when a header from freshman Mitchell Baker was once again saved off of the line by a defender. Some GREAT team defending!!! Awesome teamwork Zips! Enjoy a pleasant trip home.

Agreed, great team win. Great work by the players and coaches to respond to the adversity entering the game and in the game. Crazy turn of events throughout with a gritty W for the good guys. Thank goodness Ashton's game out of the lineup is vs St Francis with his returning for Georgetown.

I don't think you can solely ask about the Porter years v now. From 2013-18, our ZipsMSoc team was quite successful under Jared, with 3 College Cup appearances, including one title game appearance. When did the financial situation get this bad? Have the Head Coach and AD talked about most critical needs? Is the Department of Development engaged? (I don't hear from them unless I call, which I quit doing. They come across as uninterested.) Agreed. The talent pool has changed, but our coaching hasn't seemed to change with it. We're no longer able to defeat teams with our "elite" style of play. Looking at the stats, our team has outplayed most of our opponents other than blOSU, which is looking better than expected. The little extra from our players and coaches matter more than ever.
