  1. This one really belongs here, too (my bad), since Zarek is joining Wil Trapp in Minnesota for the 2023 season...
  2. Pulled this over from @TennZip's post in the 2022 thread... https://www.themaneland.com/2022/11/30/23486692/defender-joao-moutinho-bids-orlando-city-farewell-in-social-media-post
  3. Article from Dec 2, 2022... João Moutinho departs Orlando City, signs in Italy's Serie A
  4. Congratulation to Joao Moutinho (subs in at 66:56 in the game [~9:31 in the video]) on his debut today for Spezia (Italian Serie A)
  5. @Z.I.P. As I recall, Zack Steffen is a Terrapin, not a Zip, in the Pros. LOL Btw, it's 2023. LOL
  6. Congratulations to ZipsMSoc alum Zarek Valentin who is joining Wil Trapp in Minnesota.
  7. It is a showcase with the possibility of going pro. As @TennZip pointed out, Dyson could possibly return to Akron in 2023. My "best wishes" were intended as best wishes in the showcase. As much I'd love for Dyson to return, if he gets the right opportunity to go pro and takes it, then I'll be thrilled for him.
  8. Congratulations and best wishes to Dyson Clapier…
  9. Congratulations to Adam Najem, who is currently playing professionally in Indonesia, on earning his degree.
  10. "think small be small" to quote your signature.
  11. By the way, congratulations to 2022 DIII Womens Runners Up Case Western Reserve University who lost 1-2 to Johns Hopkins in the Women's DIII National Championship today. https://www.ncaa.com/live-updates/soccer-women/d3/johns-hopkins-wins-2022-diii-womens-soccer-championship
  12. Yep. 12/9/22 Semifinals: Pitt v #13 Indiana Creighton v #3 Syracuse
  13. I don't want to belabor the unfortunate result, but I know we're all proud of our former Zip representing the 🇺🇸 well in the 2022 World Cup and had to post a picture. Best wishes to DeAndre for whatever his future holds on and off the field. https://chicago.suntimes.com/soccer/2022/12/3/23491378/united-states-eliminated-from-world-cup-after-3-1-loss-to-netherlands

  15. Our run was similar to that of Pitt thus far. Won 1st round game. Defeated #16 seed Syracuse then #1 seed Wake Forest. However, Zips had to travel to Stanford whereas Pitt will host their Elite 8 match.
  16. No apology needed. Your “prognostication” was correct. At least 1 unseeded team will make the College Cup.
  17. Link to the Fox8 story on DeAndre, Richie, Zips Mens Soccer https://fox8.com/sports/just-thrilled-2-former-akron-zips-are-representing-at-world-cup/
  18. Upsets in Round 3 #1 Kentucky 1 - 2 Unseeded Pitt #5 Stanford 1 (1) - 1 (3) #12 UNCG advances on PKs #15 Tulsa 1 - 2 Unseeded Creighton Elite 8 matchups Portland at Pittsburgh Vermont at #3 Syracuse Creighton at #7 Duke #13 Indiana at #12 UNCG #1 Kentucky eliminated in Round 3 #2 Washington, #4 Virginia eliminated in Round 2
  19. Unseeded Pitt, down a man due to a red card, scores 2nd goal, defeats #1 Kentucky and will host unseeded Portland. At least 1 unseeded team will get to the College Cup similar to the unseeded Zips in 2018.
  20. How do you figure 2 unseeded into the College Cup? Vermont took down SMU in the Round of 32. UCLA had to then travel to Vermont where the Catamounts whipped them 3-0. in the Sweet 16. Now Vermont faces #3 Syracuse in the Elite 8...winner advances to the College Cup. Portland has to face the winner or #1 Kentucky v unseeded Pitt. Only if Pitt wins will there definitely be an unseeded team from this quadrant into the College Cup.

  22. So thankful for our Zips Mens Soccer program, Coach Embick and his staff, our current players and their families. Thankful for our Zips Mens Soccer alumni and their families and all of the friends and fans of our program. I have met some awesome people and have made some great friendships thanks to our program. This World Cup occurring over the Thanksgiving holiday season has been so much fun. Love watching DeAndre in his 2nd WC and Richie in his first. So much fun to see pictures of Ira and Dylan Yedlin and DeAndre’s fiancée, Crystal, on her IG account attending the match v Wales. Happy to see the pictures and video Reggie Laryea posted from Qatar on his IG account. Canada was the better team v Belgium; unfortunately, the score didn’t reflect that. I’m so much looking forward to the remaining US and Canada matches. And, of course, enjoying as much of this World Cup as I can. Greatest sporting event in the World. 2026 in North America will be awesome!!! Thanks former Zips Head Coach Caleb Porter and current Head Coach Jared Embick and their players for giving me my appreciation and love for the beautiful game. Thanks Coach Stu Parry (and your family) for starting and nurturing our program and continuing to support it so well. Thank you to all former and future Zips Mens Soccer players and coaches. Can’t wait for 2023 with so many outstanding returning players and talented recruits. See you all for the Spring exhibitions. GO ZIPS!!!
