Agree with your points @zippy-claws but I'd like to add that I have concern with academy bias...potentially overlooking very talented high school players because they didn't play for an academy. I've been surprised with recent successes of some of the local high schools that the Zips haven't had any recent recruits from them ... Medina and St Ignatius specifically come to mind. Perhaps players on Akron's radar chose to go elsewhere and / or there weren't others on our radar; I don't know the details. Just saying I'm surprised.

amazing. lol. My point was I was surprised the committee wasn’t using RPI as I expected them to do then and the end of the season. In the past Gaucho Dan RPI has aligned very closely to NCAA RPI. I’ve not looked to see if the NCAA has posted their RPI so I don’t know how it compares this year. I trust that instead of arguing this post season’s selections our coaches are hard at work to determine what changes and improvements need to be made for next season. I’m looking forward to recruiting announcements and Spring games.

I respectfully disagree. You're pointing out specific games that support your argument when the overall RPI calculation / rank account for all games and have Pitt at 30 and Akron at 41. Interesting how you were chiding me not too long ago because I didn't put much stock in the committee's top 16 / polls at the time. Now, you're complaining about the committee because they didn't go your way. LOL

THANK YOU. RPI, which includes strength of schedule, among other factors and therefore is not as biased as polls and a team's fans supports Pitt and Kentucky making the NCAAT ahead of our Zips. I wanted our team in the NCAAT as much as anyone, but they were not snubbed or overlooked. Their resume was not good enough.

I'm definitely optimistic for 2024 but contend that some poor habits need to be overcome. In addition to our 2024 recruits, I'm looking forward to seeing Caleb Borneo and Nathan Ferguson in action with our team. Edit: It is very disappointing to be talking about Zips Men's Soccer's next season this early in November.

Big East Mens Soccer 2023

I'm very happy for our players who received well-deserved recognition from the Big East Conference. I missed more games this year than usual due to other priorities, but appreciate all of our players and proud to support all of them as best I can. Regardless of how this season ends, thanks to all for being Zips; proud to know all by name (even if my recall doesn't work as rapidly as I wish these days). Thanks to all for taking time to talk from time to time. -

Big East Quarterfinal @ Xavier, 11-4-2023 7pm

I thought that the universities handled the camera work on Flo Sports, at least for soccer. I attended the regular season game at Xavier, and the cameras were at low angles because Xavier hasn't made a space on the hill to get a higher angle. I feel awful about it, but I don't think I will be traveling to Xavier for this BE conference tourney match up. I hope to watch with a friend who subscribes to Flo. Go Zips! -

2 OTs of 10 minutes each. Full 20 minutes have to be played. No sudden victory. If still tied after the 20 minutes OT, then it goes to a PK shootout. https://www.ncaa.com/news/soccer-men/article/2023-08-06/how-college-soccer-overtime-works just watched Pitt and Louisville play OT last night. Announcer mentioned if a team has a lead in the 2nd OT and make a sub in the last 2 minutes of that 2nd OT, the clock stops for the sub. -
I'll explain my thumbs down / $0.02. The NCAA soccer season is compressed, as we all know, with teams often playing 3 games every 7 days. Consider the effect that an extra 140 minutes would have on the health of our players. How many more might have significant injuries? Personally, I think the NCAA eliminating regular season OT not only better aligns NCAA rules with FIFA rules but is in the best interest of the student-athletes. Of course, it doesn't matter at this point in 2023. Post-season games include OT as needed. As I recall, the current NCAA OT rules are: 2 OTs, 10 minutes each, no sudden victory. If still tied after the full 20 minutes OT, then PK shootout. Someone please correct me if that is not correct.

Thanks for responding @72Roo. I understand your concern with Womens Soccer but I have to admit that I'm more concerned about an experienced and successful (elsewhere) D1 coach who seems to have had little effect in almost 2 seasons especially with as much support as has been provided than a potentially up and coming coach who is still finding her way. Best wishes to both for better results in 2024.
