  1. Yes, that is correct. With the MAC only fielding 5 Men's Soccer teams this season, the 2022 MAC automatic NCAA Tournament berth will be decided by 1 additional game between the top 2 teams at the end of the regular season, during which each team will play the others home and away. Given the regular season format, the 1 game "playoff" seems silly, but it is the MAC.
  2. Huge shout out to #6 Sammy Tojaga who, in this game, looked like he hasn't missed a beat! As @TennZipalready stated, so happy to have Sammy back in the starting lineup and getting significant, well-played minutes. Shout out to #23 Joel Sangwa who is a stalwart on defense. Making good decisions and rarely going back to the Keeper...keeping the defense out of trouble. Shout outs to #11 Will Jackson who has stepped in beautifully at CB and #27 Ashton Kamdem for his play at LB. Shout out to #5 Malik Henry whose speed and agility opened up play. Shout out to #4 to Jonas Buechte and his many great decisions and steady play. Agree with malonepioneer on shout outs to #7 Josh Hallenberger, #8 Ryan Kingsford, and #19 Dyson Clapier. Shout outs to #1 GK Mitch Budler, #13 Joey Paulus, #9 Jason Shokalook, #15 Johnny Fitzgerald, and #16 Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal. Shout outs to all of our players who came in and played well giving the starters needed rest. Commanding victory thanks to GREAT TEAM EFFORT!!! Let's keep this going!!! GO ZIPS!!!
  3. St Louis City 2 is led by Head Coach John Hackworth, father of ZipsMSoc alum Morgan Hackworth and their roster includes Wan Kuzain Bin Wan Kamal, who was at one time a ZipsMSoc recruit and is the brother of current ZipsMSoc MF Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal.
  4. Congratulations to Captain Marco Micaletto, Abdi Mohamed, Danny Strachan, and Columbus Crew2 who won the MLSNEXTPro Eastern Conference championship tonight and will host St Louis City 2 on Oct 8 at Lower.com Field for the MLSNEXTPRO Cup Championship.
  5. Couldn’t watch last night. Actually both goals came late. What a finish!!!
  6. The Crew actually scored in stoppage time (90’ + 3’) and won thanks to Jacen Russell-Rowe and Derrick Etienne. 😃
  7. I guess my response was a bit stronger than I intended. Your post here did not solely lead to my comment about your seeming "worship' of our AD but rather your directing folks to Chad plus a number of posts which seem to indicate our AD can do no wrong. Perhaps a bad conclusion. As far as the streaming operation, I have heard that there is no operation in our Athletic Dept that is not scrutinized by our AD. So, I doubt that Chad Welker chose whether or not the Mens Soccer broadcast was on ESPN+ or its importance in general. I also doubt that Chad was allowed to hire the person who was running the camera in First Energy Stadium Wednesday evening.
  8. I'm not sure why comments go to Chad Welker and not Charles Guthrie. Sorry, but I don't share your seeming worship for the guy at the top. He's making some good decisions but he's also floundering on others. It's a tough job, and no one is perfect, but he should be able to respond to warranted criticism as well as praise.
  9. Line up had to be shuffled again. Kudos to our players for stepping up and doing as needed. I hope they can consistently keep this going. As I said before, I know they can compete with any D1 NCAA team. They just need to really want it and play hard for the full 90 minutes. Go Zips!
  10. Actually, that was a 7-0 home win over Howard (not James Madison a 2nd time 😉)
  11. How AWESOME is it that the only member of the current [USMNT] group with World Cup experience is a Zips Men's Soccer alum?!!! USMNT promise "different intensity” in World Cup prep vs. Saudi Arabia ... Veteran fullback DeAndre Yedlin, the only member of the current group with World Cup experience thanks to his breakout showing at Brazil 2014, acknowledged as much. He, along with many others on this month’s roster, needs a solid showing to give himself the best chance of making the final cut. “Naturally guys are going to be nervous,” said the Seattle Sounders product. “Naturally guys are going to know what's at stake. But at the end of the day, it's making sure everybody realizes that this is a team, you know what I mean? When the team performs well, everybody does well. “We all love each other here,” added the Inter Miami CF defender. “And we're all trying to obviously make this team, so yeah, it's down to crunch time now. Obviously guys can have anxiety or whatever about making the squad, but we just need to do what’s best for the team.” ...
  12. World Cup foundation: Canada get "final"-level test vs. Uruguay ...If Buchanan isn’t risked on Tuesday, Hoilett is a reliable veteran who can link play and provide a bit of cover in midfield if Canada stick with their double pivot. Alternatively, Richie Laryea is a dynamo on the right and can provide extra solidity at the back. ...
  13. His effectiveness in the midfield is greatly missed and having to replace him takes away from being able to fill other needs. Our roster doesn't seem to have the capable depth I thought it did. Players need to consistently step up.
  14. Crew 2 wins 4-1. They will host the Eastern Conference final next weekend.
  15. Very sad direction our alma mater is going. Kent is holding its own much better.
  16. Congratulations to the Columbus Crew 2 for finishing the inaugural (2022) season in first place overall (https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/2022/overall#season=2022&live=false) as well as the Eastern Conference (https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/2022/conference#season=2022&live=true) in part due to the outstanding play of Zips alum, Crew2 Captain midfielder Marco Micaletto and defenders Abdi Mohamed and Daniel Strachan as well as Zips 2023 recruit Caleb Borneo. The first round of the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, the Conference Semifinals, will take place Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25, at the home of the two higher-seeded teams in each conference. https://www.mlsnextpro.com/news/first-round-schedule-set-for-2022-mls-next-pro-playoffs Saturday, September 24 Columbus Crew 2 (1) vs. Rochester New York FC (4) – Historic Crew Stadium (3:00 p.m. ET)

  18. Very happy to see Sammy Tojaga back on the pitch. Also happy to see Will Jackson get a few minutes. Hopefully, both are well on their way to recovery and getting significant minutes again. I also enjoyed seeing and talking with Keith Dambrot. Always a pleasure.
  19. Fitzgerald was not offside. 4th goal should have counted. Same AR. Terrible!!!
