How AWESOME is it that the only member of the current [USMNT] group with World Cup experience is a Zips Men's Soccer alum?!!! USMNT promise "different intensity” in World Cup prep vs. Saudi Arabia ... Veteran fullback DeAndre Yedlin, the only member of the current group with World Cup experience thanks to his breakout showing at Brazil 2014, acknowledged as much. He, along with many others on this month’s roster, needs a solid showing to give himself the best chance of making the final cut. “Naturally guys are going to be nervous,” said the Seattle Sounders product. “Naturally guys are going to know what's at stake. But at the end of the day, it's making sure everybody realizes that this is a team, you know what I mean? When the team performs well, everybody does well. “We all love each other here,” added the Inter Miami CF defender. “And we're all trying to obviously make this team, so yeah, it's down to crunch time now. Obviously guys can have anxiety or whatever about making the squad, but we just need to do what’s best for the team.” ...

World Cup foundation: Canada get "final"-level test vs. Uruguay ...If Buchanan isn’t risked on Tuesday, Hoilett is a reliable veteran who can link play and provide a bit of cover in midfield if Canada stick with their double pivot. Alternatively, Richie Laryea is a dynamo on the right and can provide extra solidity at the back. ...

Penn State - September 25th

His effectiveness in the midfield is greatly missed and having to replace him takes away from being able to fill other needs. Our roster doesn't seem to have the capable depth I thought it did. Players need to consistently step up. -

Very sad direction our alma mater is going. Kent is holding its own much better.

Congratulations to the Columbus Crew 2 for finishing the inaugural (2022) season in first place overall (https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/2022/overall#season=2022&live=false) as well as the Eastern Conference (https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/2022/conference#season=2022&live=true) in part due to the outstanding play of Zips alum, Crew2 Captain midfielder Marco Micaletto and defenders Abdi Mohamed and Daniel Strachan as well as Zips 2023 recruit Caleb Borneo. The first round of the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, the Conference Semifinals, will take place Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25, at the home of the two higher-seeded teams in each conference. https://www.mlsnextpro.com/news/first-round-schedule-set-for-2022-mls-next-pro-playoffs Saturday, September 24 Columbus Crew 2 (1) vs. Rochester New York FC (4) – Historic Crew Stadium (3:00 p.m. ET)

Very happy to see Sammy Tojaga back on the pitch. Also happy to see Will Jackson get a few minutes. Hopefully, both are well on their way to recovery and getting significant minutes again. I also enjoyed seeing and talking with Keith Dambrot. Always a pleasure.

Fitzgerald was not offside. 4th goal should have counted. Same AR. Terrible!!!
-
Too bad the AR was asleep. Pitt was clearly offside on that 2nd goal just before the half. I was standing on that side of the field, and there was no doubt at all about the offside that was not called.

Another draw snatched from the jaws of victory at the last second. WTF? Crew drop below the playoff line and Miami move into the last playoff spot in part thanks to DeAndre Yedlin's beautiful cross / assist on Higuain's game-winning goal.

2022 Season Polls / Rankings

Much better than blOSU's previous coach. Hoosiers all but completely shut down our Zips, yet they lose to a blOSU team that was not all that impressive vs our Zips. Why does our team seem to clench up so badly on the road? They just need to keep their heads about them and play their game, and they can compete with any D1 NCAA team out there home or away. -

74 caps. Our Zip alum DeAndre Yedlin is the veteran of this squad. 👏👏👏 Acosta and Pulisic are next with 52 and 51, respectively.

Thank goodness for Mitch Budler's 9 saves. Result could have been MUCH worse. Thanks Mitch. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything else good on which to comment. Lots of work needed. We miss Guyon Chong. -

IU's field is an embarrassment, especially for such a successful mens soccer program. Lots of accomplishments for IU Mens Soccer to highlight around their stadium. I look forward to the day when we have our accomplishments back up on banners at First Energy Stadium Cub Cadet Field. Hopefully, the Zips pick up our game in the 2nd half.
