  1. Let's check in with our beat writer Here are all of his tweets if you'd like some political commentary, Browns play by play, movie reviews and a few tweets from the first half of the Zips game this week. https://twitter.com/ByGeorgeThomas?s=09
  2. Zips fans clogging up the phone lines buying tickets obviously
  3. That makes sense. I never saw anything official but assumed it was an exhibition and the CMU (Tartans) game would count. Usually one of the D-II or D-III games is an exhibition and one counts, but never knew the ins and outs of it.
  4. It is an exhibition.. no?
  5. I think he meant vs a bowl game where there is a revenue split with the MAC
  6. I'd prefer both
  7. Arrrrrrr
  8. I can't see the number but whoever ran that route over the middle wasn't exactly busting their tail
  9. Agree to disagree. This wasn't a quick hitter to the sideline. The play was a rollout to get him some time with a primary read over the middle and the next option was sideline, and obviously last resort take off or throw it into the stands. In any case I think we'd all agree that he wasn't put into the greatest of spots, but the playbook is a little limited down two possessions with not much time left.
  10. Have you ever played football? Sideline throw isn't a play. There are multiple routes and progressions and that was one of the options. Down late in the game you have to put the ball in the air. Not to mention that we have zero run threat as it is.
  11. We'll be 4-7 if Kato doesn't come back
  12. Welp I guess some got their Ramart wish
  13. Love the logo
  14. To boot, with the hurricane cancellations, I think 6 wins would be a near-lock for a bowl this year. I'll await someone to do the math
  15. A win over a 2nd 1-AA team is still a 6 win Akron team though.. Only one 1-AA win a year counts. This would just be an extra scrimmage in December for all intents and purposes
  16. Picked 5th. No one on pre-season All-MAC. Should be a nice little chip on the shoulder
  17. https://getsomemaction.com/news/2018/10/30/2018-19-mens-basketball-preseason-poll-all-mac-teams-released.aspx
  18. Any word on Jamal Davis's injury?
  19. Zips win a close one. FF: We don't have a fumble this week But really, I'll go with - Van Edwards breaks 100 yards this week
  20. Yeah doesn't make much sense to me
  21. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/play-index/pgl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=game&year_min=2000&year_max=2018&order_by=tackles_total That's tied for the 15th most in a game since 2000. Most of any Zip in that time period as well. Wagner had 22 against FIU in 2008. A decent amount of those games are against option schools where linebackers really rack up the tackles, so really dang dadgum impressive.
  22. 23? Holy crap
  23. Who wasn't even a Leipold recruit. He's obviously coached him up pretty well, but we'll see where they are when he's gone. I get what others are saying about stagnating, I do. But I think some are underestimating the depths we sank to. I'm really curious how we'll look next year.. We got to two bowl games with the most patchwork recruiting classes I've seen in CFB. Half have been transfers, and the other half were gambles on kids that didn't even have recruiting profiles. Which isn't the be all-end all with recruiting but the odds aren't great if that's all you've got. We're now setting a foundation and bringing in kids with offers from other decent schools. If next year looks the same, I might start to feel the same way. But at the same time, I'm pretty grateful that we're in a spot where a bowl game isn't that huge of a deal anymore to most.
  24. We'll see!
  25. Dan Bertolini took over 2 years ago. Their recruiting has gotten way better since he stepped in, but those are 18-19 year old kids still. I don't like to play the insider card like some do but I know a lot of the area coaches and they're well respected and don't hesitate sending a kid there like before.. he's gotten a few recruits over Kent the past couple years. They'll be contending with Wright State in a few years. I didn't say it's turned around yet They won 5 conference games in 2016 and doubled that to 10 last year.
