  1. I must have missed the post where zipmeister said pimpin isn't a compliment??
  2. So basically since EMU and CMU are playing each other and two of the three get spots, Akron taking two of three or all three at BG would likely get them in the tournament? Either EMU or CMU automatically has to lose at least two games in their three game series.I wonder why there isn't more support for the baseball team. I mean from this point on now every game is about as important as it can get and yet virtually no chatter.because the club team is better.
  3. I think it's more of the school than the conference that makes a mid-major...is Xavier a mid-major? probably not.Dayton? probably notUMass? maybeRichmond, Charlotte, Duquesne? yes.
  4. No offense to zippyrifle32, but I nominate this for worst post ever.+1

  6. nah, kents been looking for a new stadium design...
  7. If inside LB is his position, he should do very well at the D-III level. A 5' 10" ILB at the D-I level is not good for the Zips. Thanks for the info, Hilltopper!!But I have to agree with GP1's assessment. A 5'10" inside linebacker can't play at Akron. An inside backer @ Akron's level should be in the 6'2"-ish, 230-ish range. I think this again gives us a little glimpse into the area's general assumptions about The University of Akron's program. It's just not taken seriously... yet. For someone to think a 5'10" kid can play inside linebacker @ Akron, or at the D-1 level in general, is to neither grasp nor understand the level of ball you see played @ Akron. Hopefully this crappy and uninformed perception of our program changes drastically over the next decade. I saw this uninformed assumption a handful of times in Stark County while I was @ Malone College. A kid is a really good high school player (read, D-111 college material) and people think he's too good to play at Akron. It used to really tick me off. It still does! Now Howard being a 5'10" 210 RB is alright. Tell 7 time Pro-Bowler Zach Thomas that.

  9. I've also heard rumors about making attendance at a certain amount of games next year mandatory...bad idea, the same people will show up, imo, and we'll just have a lower overall number. let the 1400 sign up, get their money, and spend it on the dedicated fans. hopefully more wins will equal higher turnout..
  10. can we make this into a suggestion thread for the Rowdies?-Don't make the bottom seats Rowdies only until we have a huge overflow...I know at least 6 or 7 people every game that want to sit down there but don't get to because they don't have their white shirt, or just aren't rowdies. I try to convince them to join, but whatever. my point is that what's the point of having a 50% full North Side AND turn people away, then complain about it not being full...
  11. edit- wrong thread
  12. my guess is that there is only room for 15 teams and they assume little old Akron doesn't have a chance against those big boys
  13. oh and by the way...if you wanna talk frontrunner fans, it was amazing how many new Indian fans there were in the fall of 07 haha :lol:go stadium!
  14. OMG I know...can the people that run this site do like they do with Can't=Can't, make Pittsburgh=Sh*tsburgh haha. Ok well I don't mean to go off topic but yes fair weather fans are the worst and Sh*tsburgh fans are the prime example. Growing up in Erie, PA I have see them come out of no where. Back when Kordell Stewart and Maddox ran that team you couldn't find a steelers fan anywhere, then all of a sudden they all show up with their die-hard lifetime obnoxious fan attitudes. Same with the penguins, a few years ago the team was so bad and no one cared, the actually wanted to move them! now everyone loves them and they claim they always have! If anyone doubts me, just wait until hell freezes over and those Pirates actually start doing good, and you'll see thousands of Pirates fans come out of nowhere. OSWHO and PSWHO are fans no different, they win a few games and everyone goes to their local wal-mart and buys a crappy $10 knock-off jersey. Maybe someday people will jump on the Akron band wagon and we can actually fill some seats! Hopefully that will come next year with the awesome stadium! The Penguins still suck, all that talent and they are what the 6th seed in the conference? Psh, the Blue Jackets might have the same seed (depending on if Colorado can win tomorrow) so that says alot.the pens are 4th or 5th seed depending on what the flyers do tomorrow. old coach therrien was fired, and he played too defensive of a system for talent like crosby, malkin, gonchar, sykora etc. He was fired and in came Bylsma and they are 18-3-4 since his arrival. he brought a new aggressive scheme and I think they've done alright with their talent plus they are the returning Eastern conf. champs, so we'll see how the playoffs go. The Canucks will wipe the floor with the BJ's anyway...
  15. he's gone http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4046754
  16. nice uni's
  17. thats what pitt does...the drum line comes out and gets everyone pumped, then the trumpets come out and play a quick little bit, then the whole band comes out of 2 entrances through the smoke, its pretty cool.
  18. yeah, I thought it was pretty clear that if you wanted to go pick out a seat to reserve for yourself, you would buy "Reserved" seating...d'oh.
  19. I would like to see a little skull session in the new grass area behind the softball field.Pitt always does a little battle of the bands drumline thing after their games in an open field, albeit smaller than the area I'm talking about. It would be really cool to see a drumline performance or even a smaller scale band show right there, outside of the stadium. Better atmosphere than being inside of Memorial, thats for sure.
  20. it SUCKS in the dorms. They call it the most wired for wireless campus in Ohio. please.on another note, its probably quicker outdoors, and in some spots, near bulger, honors, orr, it goes as fast as the wired internet...good luck!
  21. do you realize it wouldn't have counted as a win? the MAC pretty much saved us...
  22. april fools!
  23. has anyone seen the work they are doing between the track and the stadium? are they building a locker room for the track team or what?
  24. hahaha we didn't have any bigs.if you think the 35th best player in the country isn't going to start in the MAC, you're out of your mind, im sorry.Just goes to show you don't know much about basketball...Bardo and Nikola were coming along pretty nicely as the season went on and they are young players. We dont have much height, much to the reference to Dambrot's quote on the need for height since McKnight will be at the four. He is a solid post player that can step out and hit the J.Like others have said, I do not doubt at all that Zeke will start at some point. My only point is that people are expecting the world out of this kid and it takes bigs a lot longer to get adjusted to the college game than guards. Humpty came in and was able to start, but who was behind him? Ronnie was hurt and McNees came on strong late, but struggled early. So there was nobody there. We have a pretty solid presence of young post players in the mix here.If you want a good example, the Ohio State Buckeyes had no player over 6'8'' that played meaningful minutes last season. The recruit the #1 player in the Nation in BJ Mullins. He came in and just wasn't ready for NCAA basketball. So he played 20 min a game and started a total of two games the entire season. Mullins played Ohio DI basketball and avg 28 PPG and 15 RPG. His game is head and shoulders above Zeke. Zeke is no where near ready to play at this level on offense. It is going to take time. And being in the MAC, we can do that because we already have a strong team and good young post players. He may start by the end of the year, but right away, we need to ease him into the game because it will take a big adjustment to get used to going from HS kids to DI basketball. Regardless of what conference it is.Bardo was coming along nicely huh?and your point about humpty has nothing to do with this. He wasn't the #8 player at his position coming into the year. Zeke is a five star recruit, and he will impact the MAC from the start. KD will make him earn the starting spot, but I have no doubt by the time the season starts he will be our starting 5 man. Who would you include in our "solid presence of young post players in the mix?" Chris Mcknight, and Nikola? That's about all we have down low....Zeke will start over Nik, imo. But Nik will surely get many minutes also. Anyway, this is a good problem to have
  25. I agree, no one realizes that if we were 9 weeks, 6 weeks, 32 weeks, whatever, we wouldn't move the home opener up a week...
