  1. the intro in 07-08 was awesome. the one with requeim (spelling?) as the music. if that didnt get you pumped, then there's no hope. but they should also come up with some sweet player intros also. i wish they could turn off the lights, that always pumped up the crowd.
  2. I think a pep rally would be awesome actually. something during the week so the team can be there to meet and greet/ get the fans pumped. have the band practice their walk through, people will love that. people can also tailgate and everything. then hold the actual rally inside the stadium. and let anyone in that wants in. it'll be a great time, you can practice the whole routine, and sell a bunch of tickets while you're at it.
  3. nah the first event there should be a big game.like morgan state, for example. the athletic office knows how to open up the new barn
  4. Wow...I'm starting to like our chances against this D-3 team!Penn State has more convicts than Can't State these days. Although, once they clean the stadium, they're off the hook apparently.
  5. yep, those words you're talking about are the words to their fight song. i love their stuff.
  6. Call me crazy, but I love Oregons uni's, every year they add more awesomeness. like the steel, and now the duck feathers.
  7. how'd i get into the Americanism thread? i thought i clicked the stadium cams thread..
  8. really bad football combined with really bad records makes really bad attendance.
  9. from what I recall, the one plan actually called for the arena to sit in the area from E state to E Exchange, which includes this building. This news, in essence, kills the idea of the arena in that area. In fact, this really kills the idea of a new arena for the forseeable future. Theres nowhere else that would work that i can see.that hasn't stopped us before
  10. Have you ever posted without mentioning your "basketball background?"
  11. police stop checking for permits after 5.
  12. The post you're referring to magically disappeared...weird.ah, i feel you
  13. I must have missed the post where zipmeister said pimpin isn't a compliment??
  14. So basically since EMU and CMU are playing each other and two of the three get spots, Akron taking two of three or all three at BG would likely get them in the tournament? Either EMU or CMU automatically has to lose at least two games in their three game series.I wonder why there isn't more support for the baseball team. I mean from this point on now every game is about as important as it can get and yet virtually no chatter.because the club team is better.
  15. I think it's more of the school than the conference that makes a mid-major...is Xavier a mid-major? probably not.Dayton? probably notUMass? maybeRichmond, Charlotte, Duquesne? yes.
  16. No offense to zippyrifle32, but I nominate this for worst post ever.+1

  18. nah, kents been looking for a new stadium design...
  19. If inside LB is his position, he should do very well at the D-III level. A 5' 10" ILB at the D-I level is not good for the Zips. Thanks for the info, Hilltopper!!But I have to agree with GP1's assessment. A 5'10" inside linebacker can't play at Akron. An inside backer @ Akron's level should be in the 6'2"-ish, 230-ish range. I think this again gives us a little glimpse into the area's general assumptions about The University of Akron's program. It's just not taken seriously... yet. For someone to think a 5'10" kid can play inside linebacker @ Akron, or at the D-1 level in general, is to neither grasp nor understand the level of ball you see played @ Akron. Hopefully this crappy and uninformed perception of our program changes drastically over the next decade. I saw this uninformed assumption a handful of times in Stark County while I was @ Malone College. A kid is a really good high school player (read, D-111 college material) and people think he's too good to play at Akron. It used to really tick me off. It still does! Now Howard being a 5'10" 210 RB is alright. Tell 7 time Pro-Bowler Zach Thomas that.

  21. I've also heard rumors about making attendance at a certain amount of games next year mandatory...bad idea, the same people will show up, imo, and we'll just have a lower overall number. let the 1400 sign up, get their money, and spend it on the dedicated fans. hopefully more wins will equal higher turnout..
  22. can we make this into a suggestion thread for the Rowdies?-Don't make the bottom seats Rowdies only until we have a huge overflow...I know at least 6 or 7 people every game that want to sit down there but don't get to because they don't have their white shirt, or just aren't rowdies. I try to convince them to join, but whatever. my point is that what's the point of having a 50% full North Side AND turn people away, then complain about it not being full...
  23. edit- wrong thread
  24. my guess is that there is only room for 15 teams and they assume little old Akron doesn't have a chance against those big boys
