  1. agree. their not playing like they did the other nightthanks, John Madden
  2. woof
  3. BG up 11-0 @ Can't early.
  4. why not? why do we have to slow it down? why did people fear the URI press? we ran with them, and stunk it up when the game slowed down. we have 11 capable players. we should be running teams out of the gym. even our big guys (mcknights, zeke, bardo to some extent) aren't slow, at least for big men. I don't understand why we rarely see a press out of this team. with the depth and talent we have, i have a lot of confidence in saying we would dominate the MAC. or at least look better than we do now.
  5. I believe you mean "Jake Akron"
  6. Alabama plays in the toughest conference in college football. They go undefeated beating many ranked opponents along the way. They smoke the number 1 team in the country in their conference championship game. They beat the number 2 team in the country by double digits and you think Boise State is #1? I really don't get it?please explain how the SEC is the toughest conference this year...most years yes, but they had a major down year in 2009. I'd give it to the PAC-10 this year.
  7. We need to play more A-10, Horizon like teams. Not only are they great competition, and exciting games, but they have to have the same scheduling problems as us (no big team wants to play in their house). Seems like it makes a lot of sense. Plus, they bring a decent name to the table too. Dayton, Temple, Rhode Island, Cleveland State, Charlotte, Umass, Richmond are all recognizable names in the college basketball world.
  8. I'll agree COMPLETELY. I believe i saw ONE time the entire night where their bench was upset about a call. I could count 20+ where there were calls that were made or not made that absolutely shocked me. I think i'm going to nominate those refs as "Worst Officiating Crew In JAR History".The worst part is, after playing 5 on 8 for the entire night against a very good team all we had to do was just make a few darn free throws and we win. That's too bad. Though i have to say anyone who thinks that URI is better than us is crazy, we had them on the ropes and they got bailed out over and over again tonight. If we can get a decent officiated game and make free throws we will finish very strong this season.I have yet to see you not blame a loss on the refs. they must really hate akron haha.I can tell you weren't at the game. hahai was there. the backcourt violation (timeout) was a ridiculous call. but we gave up WAY too many second chances, and missed too many FT's. we had many chances to take this game, despite the poor officiating.

  10. we're gonna rip on McNees for going 2-11 last night? he chucked up 5 3's in the last 30 seconds with multiple guys in his face. only the first of those 5 shots actually meant something..
  11. I can admit it, and also realize I will not be watching them play next week because of it. There is a difference between not being able to run and deciding not to run. The Steelers couldn't run so they didn't. Step one to recharging the Pitt running game is to resign Parker. Step two is to start Parker and not Spindenhall. The Steelers will be fine. Losing two key starters on defense killed them. "But GP1, you said defense wasn't important." No I didn't....it just can't be horrible. With an average defense, they make the playoffs.i lost a little respect for you as a steeler fan with that statement. mendenhall averaged 4.6 to parker's 4 YPC. Mendenhall doesn't have hands of stone, and is a threat coming out of the backfield. he also doesn't get hurt every three plays, and is on the upswing, not downfall of his career. you're the first person I've ever seen make that statement.
  12. sensitive much
  13. Then don't read the thread, dude. Prettty simple solution.Actually, I think the topic is so stupid, i came here just to tell you guys
  14. Since Shuford was already on the team, what does this have to do with the price of eggs? I hope he doesn't run into any adversities with his new team. Life is full of them. Good luck to him. yeah, was he gonna kick him off the team because he's from Michigan? scared he couldn't have any old friends join him on the Zips? lol
  15. hey how bout this...who cares?
  16. he had 3.5 speed?!?!?!?! jesus why isn't he running track in the olympics?
  17. shouldn't we be comparing the warm weather kids vs. cold weather kids, and not the programs? after all, we are debating about fall/spring soccer, early track season and such. each college program has the same regulations..
  18. Well according the ABA (the group that accredits the program) the "old one" is awful. So it's a "must do" project. On a side note, and I know we've all mentioned it before, why does everyone in Akron hate the University so much? Not everyone in Akron hates UA but your point is well taken. Many do and I have observed that they tend to be people who are just unhappy with themselves; those who like to see themselves as elitists, anti-culture pseudo hippies and those who are just plain stupid, anti-education hicks that still make up a large portion of the Akron population. You see this last category make up a large portion of our sister university's host community to the east. This category is also made up of those who still think downtown should return to being what it once was in the 50s and 60s, which will never happen.Worse than those who hate UA are those who are indifferent to it. They only acknowledge the university when they want to exploit it to achieve an agenda that is political or self-serving. The mayor is one of these people and the leadership at the ABJ is made up of these people. They are very parochial Akron dinosaurs who like individual facilities or services of the university ( E.J. Thomas Hall, the new stadium) but beyond that make UA invisible. These are the people who separate UA's athletics from the university and who want UA to build a new arena downtown instead of on the campus where it belongs. And don't let them kid you. They hate that the new football stadium is on the campus and not downtown. They are also the group of people who make too big of a deal about the Polsky Building being a pseudo-university facility. At best they see UA only in pieces and parts and cherry pick the parts they like at the expense of the university as a whole. It is this group of indifferent parochials who keep The University of Akron from coming off to the region as a real and authentic institution of higher education. To them it's just the same old "Akron U".thought you were gonna make an entire post without complaining about a downtown arena! silly me.
  19. You lose 100% of the games you never schedule. Can't beat good programs, or even compete with them if you don't schedule them. It is that simple. If that is true, then Duke, North Carolina, OSU, CSU have all lost to us because they never scheduled us.Quick call that in to the RPI people.edit* It's funny that you guys think we could even compete for an at large bid. 20 wins with 6 losses to Duke, Pitt, UConn, OSU, Michigan State, and Kansas, get's us the same thing we have right now. No bids and getting ready to start the MAC Tournament. Until we are good enough to compete and beat top 30 teams, we need to have an easy schedule with some bench mark games so that we don't get beat up going into MAC play. It's gotten us to the Championship game 3 years in a row, and taking away poor Ref work, should have been two Dance Invites. It isn't simply about earning that at large bid. In that respect you are probably right, we probably won't get an at large with a 20-6 season with losses against Duke, Pitt, UConn, OSU, Michigan State and Kansas. What playing those teams does for us, outside of the potential that we could actually beat them, is generates at least a little bit of excitement for the program. Let's face it, no one gave a crap when we played Malone, UNCGreensboro and St.Francis in consecutive games, and the attendance numbers bore that out. No one is going to care next week when we go on the road to take on Wyoming. If a team wins 26 games and no one is around to see it, did they really win 26 games? Well, yeah, but it certainly doesn't do anything to help the program. I don't know about you, but I think it sucks that we can't draw more than 1,500 fans for our OOC games. That is truly a shame. Now let's say you do go out and schedule a couple more games, on the road, against teams like Duke, Pitt, UConn, OSU, Michigan State or Kansas. Nobody that I know of has yet argued for the Charlie Coles method of scheduling all of your OOC games against powerhouses like that, but just a couple more. Now you can say, hey we went out and played some good teams. Teams that you want to see. And if you should beat one of those teams (see CSU over Syracuse last year), well then the flood gates open up. ESPN highlights, check. Increased attendance, check. Actually being able to win a game in the NCAA's, check. It isn't all about the at large bid. Playing a couple more teams on your OOC schedule that are worthwhile opponents has far reaching benefits. No one gave a crap when Top 25 Nevada came here. No one gave a crap when Dayton was here last year either so what does that mean? What was attendance 2500? (Not picking on you, just having a conversation)pretty sure the dayton game was a near sellout, and i think had more fans than the Can't game last year. just sayin.

  21. No offense, but these rankings don't make us look good at all. Second best in NEOhio is absolutely nothing to brag about. Heck I'm sure Can't even isn't bragging about being "best in NEOhio" when that simply means they rank 108 in the country. All this really shows is the absolute abysml level of play in the MAC.They might not make us look good if I had written "NEOhio," but I didn't. I said we were rated as the second best team in all of Northern Ohio, and I could have said we are the 2nd best in the entire Northern half of the state of Ohio.NEOhio, Northern Ohio. Doesn't matter. My point is the same. These are pretty pathetic numbers. If we were up in the range of Dayton, Xavier and Cincy they might be something worth keeping an eye on. As it stands they are just an indication of how bad our scheduling is and how much this conference absolutely blows.he's joking. quit before you look like an even bigger idiot

  23. Maybe a dome wouldn't be such a great idea with natural grass? nah that couldn't be it.
  24. I'm a big Pitt fan, grew up near the Burgh...(still wore my Zips gear to the Pete last year though ) I can't wait till this series resumes. One of the greatest rivalries in college sports and it hasn't even been played since 2000. I was there, and I've been to many Backyard Brawls too. No comparison. That series will resume either if/when: JoePa dies, Pitt joins the Big Ten. I think it's going to be Pitt to join the Big 10. I think it's a lateral move in Football, a step down in BBall. But you finish 3rd in the BE, and you're in the Meinike Car Car Bowl. 3rd in the Big 10 gets you the Outback Bowl in Florida. The conference lives on its reputation...
  25. It's going to be Pitt, if JoePa lets it happen.
