If this team was really built around the prospect of having Carry and Walton, it's hard to realistically expect much more than what we've gotten. Of course, those failures are somewhat on Groce, but I don't think they're indicative of any long term issues.

Yeah, he gets to the paint, and then does the dribble/back down move. Which, he has a size advantage on a lot of guards. But like you said, he's drawing better defenders now and the help is sagging there too.. just part of progressing, he needs to work on the plan B of that part of his game to keep growing.

Ali seems to want to be the guy, he just hasn't figured out how yet. A lot of it results in forcing a bad shot.. I think he needs to add a drive and dish component. Right now it's just drive. Defenses collapse and sometimes he still makes it work on his own, but rarely is it a kick out. If he can add that element I think it opens a lot up for the offense

On this note. Students showed out, great to see. I've said it before here - but student attendance is always pretty good. Step 1 was moving the rowdies to a bigger section off the baseline. Step 2 is making all of the other students sit in the same section. It happens organically at the Kent game - the second student section up top was pretty good. But on a normal game, there are still a decent amount of students that come for the free ticket and just scatter about all the GA sections. Maybe they won't be too rowdy, but if they're all together, they'll be a little more noticeable

I think he was hurt early on, at least I think I read that here. He's seemed to look better the past little stretch, I think he has a lot of the tools, just needs some confidence. Kinda like Ali last year, but obviously a different set of tools

Refs stunk. Both ways, not a complaint of why we lost or anything. But the first half was basically swallowed whistles/let them play, and second half complete opposite. I've never seen so many ticky tack offensive fouls off the ball. Just be consistent
