  1. Add a game at MTSU on Dec 4th to the list of known games.
  2. Just disgraceful.
  3. If you want o know my opinion, just read the story about Brian Wagner and how he ended up at Akron. The difficulty with recruiting players from "name" programs with BCS recruits is that the players we end up with probably ended up looking better than they were because of their teammates. It's easy to look like a great WR when you have a high school all-american running back to take the defensive pressure off of you.
  4. They REALLY need to beat Temple. Thats not only from the perspective of the team but also the fans. If the Zips aren't real competetive Saturday,I'm afraid those 'avg' fans they have been trying to get to the games are gonna lose interest early in the season again. I'll be impressed if we can stay within 24 points at home against Temple. Impressed at how poorly Temple would have played, that is.
  5. Tasteless? You mean like how they were proud to have nuts on their chests?
  6. We need to be doing everything in our power to get him here. Tressel's potential cheating would be much more limited at Akron. We don't have a hundred thousand rogue boosters with cash to throw around, we don't have that local culture where anything associated with our university is revered as being holy to the point where dumb schmucks would pay good money just to get a scrap of a sweaty jersey. OSU had that kind of culture surrounding it long before Tressel came to town. He wouldn't be able to re-create that no matter how good he was here. That kind of following takes many decades to build. Bring in Tressel. Find the money to pay him, do whatever it takes. Another year of Ianello could end up doing more damage to the program than an NCAA death penalty would. So why not take a chance on Tressel? No matter the sanctions we would still be better off.
  7. Or we could fire him, bring in a competent and professional-acting coach, and not have to worry about this BS.
  8. The O-linemen hold some animosity towards Nicely. The Zips locker room situation is currently not stable. That's all the info I'll give out here.
  9. It's hard to make plays when your coaches put you in a position to NOT make plays because they don't have the self-confidence to even attempt to compete.
  10. We wouldn't fire him after one game, we would be firing him after thirteen games, and in most of those he gave us a worse chance to win than if he were replaced by a turnip.
  11. DE Tyrique Jarrett verballs to Pittsburgh.
  12. Dispatch article on Zips players from central Ohio.
  13. Key to tomorrow's game: leave it all on the table. This goes for the players and coaches. For the coaches, pull out every play in the playbook (or in John Latina's case draw up a dozen more than the three offensive plays we ran last year). Keep playing to win and putting the players in positions to win no matter how the momentum looks. Last time we played, Brookhart had given up before the first snap and the resulting playcalling hampered our offense by keeping it too simplistic in a game where the players were competing at the same level as the opponent. He admitted to that in the post-game press conference. I hope Ianello and staff isn't too arrogant to learn from that mistake. For the players, don't go into the game having already declared self-defeat. Some of the players get it in their heads that they're going up against some magical force that can't be affected by mere mortals on a football field. They forget that for all the tradition, media circus, and other circumstantial bullcrap that at the end of the day they're facing a group of college kids with no more experience or maturity than themselves. The color on their jerseys doesn't matter. They still had to go to class, attend team meetings, deal with a-hole professors, worry about their girlfriends, and decide what to eat for lunch just like our players did today. The crowd won't matter, OSU has a lot of people but the Shoe is quiet compared to stadiums even half its size.
  14. Podcast of Ianello on 1540 AM this morning
  15. Beacon Article. TJ Marchese named starting PK.
  16. Umass is beating Holy Cross 17-9 in the 4th quarter. I figure we should start following them since they're moving in next season.
  17. Their plan seemed to be to beat us up as a way to take us out of our game. I pray they don't get rewarded for it.
  18. We're not holding on to the ball very well.
  19. Isn't the point of a charity to give things to that charity, not to take stuff from them?
  20. That's what you get keeping the same staff from a major NCAA scandal. Yes, these guys should all be kicked out of school and thrown in jail. How dare they accept gift bags for appearing at a cancer charity event. What a bunch of idiots. How dare they accept ANYTHING while under investigation by the NCAA and every media outlet in the country. There is a culture of taking free things without even thinking about it at OSU. it's hard to argue that it's not an institutional problem.
  21. Stream's fine for me. Just click "Listen" on the right hand side after refreshing.
  22. Three more players suspended for the Akron game! That's what you get keeping the same staff from a major NCAA scandal.
  23. Now it's on, a half-hour late.
  24. Hey Zack, Yaz posted that story in the thread starter. So he did. I didn't notice that a single innocuous word was underlined as a link.
