  1. It's about time. If Ianello is a good recruiter, we should be playing all the freshmen until the rest of teh team can prove that they belong on the field. When your known quantities add up to Zero, you have to go with potential.
  2. He'd hang up faster than everybody ignores your posts. We need to call him until he files a restraining order.
  3. Anybody still think it's not worth the risk?
  4. Nice. Can we please hire him if we can't convince Tressel to coach for us?
  5. Because they don't have the money to fix it and I don't think either knows how to fix it. Hell, they are the guys who broke it.I'm going to go get some wings and beer. Everyone else, do yourselves a favor and go have some fun. Life is too short..... I'll tell you how to fix it, but it involves ordering a supply of blue sweatervests. There's NO amount of sanctions that could outweigh keeping Ianello on the sidelines.
  6. Winners win, whiners whine. Whiners should stay out of the JAR. We have enough old curmudgeons yelling at us for making noise or standing after a big play as it is.And we will NOT lose to freaking YSU or Marshall. Please.
  7. David Harvey, Domenik Hixon, Jabari Arthur. A playmaker at WR can make an average QB look good, provided you throw the ball his way.We need to go the Jabari Arthur route (speaking of, check out his recent tweets: the Zips are embarrassing him) and throw to Suel until he's drawing every DB on the field. Get the ball into the playmakers hands and it takes the pressure off every one else.
  8. You'd think they would have the sense to stay waaaaay the hell away from Pryor over the summer, especially when he's handing out envelopes of cash.
  9. http://t.co/eXvMOisLook at his progression from year to year, and where the program was before he arrived. I think its more than fair to hold Ianello to a similar standard.
  10. A majority of the freshmen were redshirted last year, and the same is true this year.
  11. Where I work if we are unable to print a customer a receipt due to some technical difficulties we offer to take down the customer's address and mail it to them once the problems are resolved. While this is going on, we move the customer and the clerk to the side and put somebody else at the desk to keep the line moving. We DO NOT EVER hold up the line for a single customer longer than two minutes without finding a way for someone to get the rest of the line moving again. At an event like a football game, you could also arrange for the customer can pick it up at the ticket window at the end of the event. Our gameday operations is completely awful and needs a major overhaul.
  12. What happened to that Virginia Tech game a few years down the road?
  13. Somebody should tell them that there are gates at every corner of the stadium. The other three entrances were ghost towns.
  14. They only started swiping cards three years ago.
  15. They used to count them with hand clickers when a student ID was shown. I don't know if they still do it that way. They swipe Zip Cards now on electronic readers. You can't be counted twice by leaving and going back in a different entrance like you used to.
  16. Didn't we already sell out once to gain publicity by hiring a "name" coach? How did that work out?So far, it would seem that hiring a "name" guy from Notre Dame seemed to work out better than hiring a "no-name" guy from Notre Dame.
  17. Unfortunately we can't schedule that way. The NCAA requires at least 5 home games every year, and that means at least 1 OOC home game.Next year we're playing UCF at home, and FIU on the road. The other two games are up in the air, but we should put ourselves out there for payday games. Nothing under $800k. I'm sure we can find two games. Either that, or find some name opponent that travels really well and set them up in Browns Stadium. I don't want to hear some excuse that our stadium is too nice to play a game in Cleveland. As I see it, there's also no need to keep playing an FCS school at home if you can't sell enough tickets to break even (payout to the other team, facility operations, staff).
  18. Say it's split 50/50. We would still be in a better position than we are now or have been any time in the past.
  19. http://www.mac-sports.com/portals/20/MAC/T.../Ianello912.mp3Here's the audio from today's call.
  20. Depends on how often the play calling allows him to throw. Despite being perpetually behind, the coaches have called running plays 56 times compared to 53 attempted passes. Normally you throw a whole lot more often than you run when you're down by more than a touchdown. Last season we ran almost twice as often as we threw.I'm also concerned about Moore's completion percentage. 42.9% is pretty terrible. Isn't a low comp % the reason we replaced Nicely?
  21. Bearcats fans think our offense will vastly improve. They all think we'll score in the double-digits.If you are signed up for the MAC board, you can also comment on that thread as they happen to share the same site.
  22. Coordinators at least have experience running half a team and calling plays, as opposed to a position coach (like our previous and current coaches) working with maybe 6 to 10 players and not calling plays.
  23. Every monday, the MAC football coaches get together with the media and MAC officials for a conference call. I don't know if it's possible to listen in, but the MAC always has a guy tweeting every statement made by the coaches. Here's what Ianello had to say.Link to the complete rundown.Akron head coach Rob Ianello on our call. Zips dropped a 41-3 decision to Temple last Saturday and will travel to Cincinnati Sat at 3:30 pmIanello said his defense did not tackle well for the second consecutive week. Will go back to basics and emphasis this week. #MACFootballIanello said his team's attitude is still strong despite two tough games. Likes his team & is much improved, now have to show it on gameday. That third statement is something we heard after every game last year. With all the off-field improvement claimed after every loss, our team must look like the Green Bay Packers during practices by now.
  24. Zach, send this comment to Wistrcill. Seriously. It is very honest and factual. The AD would like to hear this and it is solid student opinion. If he doesn't give you a response then let me know and I will submit too.I will send it, but I'm looking into a few more things first. It goes beyond comparing Football to just Soccer. Dambrot and the basketball staff is another great example, as are the players on the team. Ron Arenz, the volleyball coach, is another one. I get the vibe that our baseball coach will also go along those lines. So why not football?
