  1. Sorry, but that team doesn't deserve to be treated politely. Most other teams are respected when they come here, and any tricks we play (kicking the ball away during warm-ups, conversing with the opposing goalie, etc) is all done in good fun and the other team recognizes that. From the coach on down OSU Soccer is thuggish, arrogant, and generally the worst kind of athletic program.
  2. Something Holmes brings that might get overlooked is maturity. He is a Senior on an extremely young team and is older than most of his teammates.
  3. Take the survey (on the right) to contribute to that map. The more representation from Akron fans, the better.
  4. ...so how about that Luke Holmes kid?
  5. Mississippi State (Nov. 9), Hiram (Nov. 12), Valparaiso (Nov. 18) and Duquesne (Nov. 19) are the tournament games. So now Hiram is considered a tournament game? Is that why they're on the schedule and considered an actual game instead of an exhibition game? How the hell did they get into the Coaches vs Cancer Classic?
  6. Article on coach Porter from the Kalamazoo Gazette
  7. You nailed it. It's almost like we need a section on the hill for the "Super" ROWDIES. It's really hard to get into a chant if no one else around you is joining in. As for me, my throat is sore, so I did my part... That's one of the big reasons they are separated for basketball games. We show up to the games to affect the final score, not to chat with friends and only cheer when somebody with a microphone tells us to.
  8. You see this all the time. The noisy students were diluted in a sea of silent, texting, fair-weather fans. The sheer volume of the crowd forced the core fans apart and it was very difficult to get anything going. On road trips, the noisy Rowdies are all in one compact group and can use their voices together to create more noise than opposing fans who are often spread out.
  9. What a great atmosphere. The Rowdies were absolutely livid during the early parts of the game thanks to two incidents that occurred during warmups. OSU's head coach punted a ball directly into Zipsnation's very own Yaznasty. Around the same time their goalie walked behind the goal with ball in hand and, unprovoked, threw it into one of the student's heads from about three feet.
  10. I think those games against the southwest teams were all in preparation for our games against Big Ten opponents. OSU is a dirty team with a dirty coach.
  11. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/upgrades-t...ouches-1.237204 Aside from the ticket gates, restrooms, and concession stands that have been in the works, this caught my eye: University officials have their eyes on a still grander improvement: an extension to the top of the grandstand for club seats that would swivel or turn to serve both the soccer field and the baseball diamond to the south, Curtis said. “There would probably be 70 seats under a roof but open to the weather,” he said. “We’re providing all the conveniences we can to make spectators comfortable.” The club seats — possibly even glass loges — could be under way in a year or so, he said. A grandstand that rotates to face different sporting venues? That's amazing.
  12. Trend setter, because that's what he calls himself.
  13. Alex Allen was called the A-train.
  14. LB Jhalil Croley commits to Bowling Green.
  15. Tough loss to YSU to start the season. Everyone should try to get out to at least one game this season. It's a lot of fun to watch. I would love to hear peoples opinions on having an on-campus hockey team after watching one of these games.
  16. I wish we could get him the ball more.
  17. WR Danny Anthrop committed to Purdue. DE Michael Ippolito committed to Northern Illinois.
  18. I'm not sure we actually fixed any of our problems. The O-line pass protection still leaves a whole lot to be desired with far too many passes getting batted down by defensive linemen pushing our guys around. We still can't convert on 3rd downs, going 3-11 and we still had a bunch of penalties. Moore went 13 of 28 for a 46% completion rate. He only really threw to Sconiers, almost completely ignoring his other options. Chisholm looked good and I was glad to see Tyler Williams returning kicks, although I don't understand why AJ price is still returning punts (or fair-catching them, to be more accurate). The running backs looked good, not just Chisholm but Bostick and Alexander as well. It's about time we started developing some depth behind Chisholm. We still don't have a truly reliable kicker, but I am baffled as to why the coaches wanted to go for two after the first TD. Our return coverage leaves much to be desired. Wagner once again led in tackles. The D-line looked decent against undersized competition. Our secondary was never really tested because VMI's QB wasn't accurate enough to throw toward their receivers. We did force a couple of turnovers that helped blow the game open. Attendance was officially reported as 14,257. I'm still very much skeptical about this team. EMU will give them a strong challenge next week.
  19. Ianello needs to feel the most pressure to win today since the Buffalo game last season. This is it, you can not lose to an FCS team two years in a row, start off your career 1-15 (a 0.0625 success rate), and then make a case that you should be retained. In a real professional business environment he would have been let go already. Why isn't the football side of the athletic department treating this as a professional business environment?
  20. Article on Zips runner Cassandra Schenck. She's leading a pretty amazing life.
  21. He hasn't been a consistent winner, but he has been a consistent improver. He took a whole bunch of nothing and made it something great. That's the kind of guy we need right now. If we hired a coach who has only proven that he can be successful when placed in an already successful situation, what happens when you give him a situation that isn't already successful?
  22. Good to know that you're not Dr Z's hallucination.I'm not a psychic and can't read the players' minds, but I do know what when a person is pouring their heart and soul into something and it's not working out in any way whatsoever, that person begins to question things that are factors out of your control, such as the playcalling in the case of football.I honestly don't understand how before every game these players believe they can win. Its like a cult where the leader is very obviously destroying his followers with his decisions but the followers are completely blind to it and go along with it happily.
  23. Hasan Hazime getting a career-ending injury sucks big time.
