  1. WR Danny Larkins commits to Toledo. QB Aloyis Gray commits to Purdue. DT Vontrell Williams commits to Illinois.
  2. My mom (YSU grad) gets her YSU gear at Kohls in Youngstown. Is there Zips gear sold at any Kohls in the Akron area? I have never seen any @ the Macedonia or Stow locations. The one on Arlington Road in Springfield (and the Walmart right next to it) is usually good for a couple racks of Zips gear. It's usually pretty nice stuff and not all the same styles that you find in the team shop.
  3. We?Oh, sorry. They claim such things. I should know better to throw everyone in with people who think Proenza doesn't care, like lance99.
  4. We claim that Proenza doesn't care about athletics, that the AD is inept. But maybe their focus is on other things at the moment. Things that count more.Akron wins the MAC Institutional Acheivement award, which goes to the school with the highest average GPA among all their athletes. So now that our athletic academics are in order, maybe we can shift the focus to competing on the gridiron. Most other sports are already competitive in the MAC or even nationally which makes this academic achievement even more impressive.
  5. And the list of redshirts burned last game. Four in all, likely more will go as we move forward.
  6. DT Terry Davis commits to NC State
  7. FIU jumped from 1-11 to 5-7 in their coach's second year. Does anybody really see this team winning five of the next nine games?
  8. So how long do you propose we wait? After every game you keep proclaiming that we haven't waited long enough. Tell us, how many embarrassments does it take before it's ok to make a judgement? Or will you still be here after three or four 0 or 1 win seasons under Ianello, telling us that we need to sit tight and see what happens next because you never know when things might start to turn around?
  9. I wonder why Cincinnati didn't take it easy on Austin Peay, beating them up by a score of 72-10, and continuing to pour it on in the 4th quarter by outscoring them 21-7 in the final 15 minutes?Because with Austin Peay they had a normal week of rest before playing their next game at Tennessee. But they only get four days of rest after playing Akron before they face NC State on Thursday.
  10. Depends on the betting service. Also, Sagarin's PREDICTOR ratings can be used to come up with a line no matter who the opponent. He has Akron as 8 and 1/2 point favorites.
  11. I prefer to think that the football ineptitude has finally takes its toll and that he's taken to hallucinating optimistic Zips fans to keep his sanity.
  12. "Far" & "good" are relative terms, so technically I guess you are probably correct. I may have my sights set too high....are you hallucinating nonexistent posts, Dr Z?
  13. Notre Dame sticks with the Big East basketball schools, when that conference splits and the football schools scatter. They might be forced to throw in their football program with the Big Ten.
  14. VMI Message BoardYou need to register to see it.
  15. The "mathematically nice" scenario, as I like to call it, has eight conferences of 16 teams each for 128 teams. Each conference champion gets an auto-bid to a 16-team playoff, along with the top 8 remaining schools. It works because you get a perfectly-sized playoff and you only need to bring in four more of the top FCS schools to get to that point instead of a radical overhaul with new tiers and lots of exclusion based on market sizes. If every conference gets an auto-bid it helps to even out the recruiting differences the BCS system creates. The playoff also gives an opportunity for a revenue system like March Madness has, which helps even out the money. Of course, TV deals will still create inequalities, but you can have true Cinderellas and a much more compelling season and post-season overall.
  16. I think the next move will be made by the PAC-Whatever.
  17. Because the upper-classmen were sucking hiney and the Freshman are better?Ianello is trying to get better, and people are complaining? If he DIDN'T burn some redshirts, I'd have been pissed. It was the first time in his UA career he got fed up, and veered from his 5 Year Master Plan.CK has it right. Why keep inneffective upperclassmen on the field when you have someone who might possibly be better sitting on the bench? It's not like they could have done worse so why not see what you have.If Ianello really is a good recruiter, then the redshirts probably should have been on the field to begin with.
  18. Server crashed, or intentional. What is KC doing with his time today? It probably got unintentionally DDOS'd from all the people trying to get on to the Big East and Conference Expansion boards.
  19. They'll buy out the contract after we play them in Pitt. They are overscheduled right now and have to drop some OOC games. A road game at a MAC school would be at the top of the list of games to dump.
  20. The NCAAbbs boards have been shut down since the ACC announcement.
  21. Qui tacet consentit.
  22. The city doesn't have the financial ability to buy the stadium. Not even close. We bought the Rubber Bowl from the city for $1. I'm sure we could work out some kind of deal with them. The price could be pretty cheap if we maintain rights to use it for events.
  23. There is no point to football outside of the FBS. It has no meaning. If we are excluded from some new top division, we should simply end football and sell the stadium to the city to host high school games.
  24. So this means that the Big East is in absolute panic mode. They, out of all the BCS conferences, can least afford to lose a single member, let alone two. UCF and Houston will be getting phone calls any day now. And if Houston isn't even a guarantee that they'll accept. As Akron fans, we need to be on our knees praying that some conference sees value in the Cleveland-Akron media market and in our notable success as an overall athletic program (football not withstanding). The dominoes are falling towards a 14-team conference landscape.
  25. There you have it. He and his staff (and the players that have bought in) truly and honestly believe that they're "this close" to flipping on the switch and winning. They think that the practices are going great, and that they're doing everything outside of showing up on gameday that you need to do to win. They really are confused as to why it's not working. What they fail to see is that the problem is systemic. They don't make the connection that if you're getting killed in games, you're probably not doing everything right in other areas.
