  1. I found the source. They don't distinguish between college soccer and professional. It's just listed as "men's soccer", which poll participants could interpret either way.
  2. I'm trying to find a link somewhere to confirm this. I was listening to the radio and they were talking about the Harris Poll's yearly ranking of sports popularity. They ask two simple questions: "Do you follow sports" and if you say yes "what is your favorite sport?". Of course the NFL was tops with the MLB a distant second and the NBA falling behind NASCAR and equal to the NHL. College Football was third. But what really shocked the radio guys was the popularity of college basketball, which despite March Madness was equal to the popularity of College Soccer! Think about that. Basketball is generally considered the "second sport" behind football in the college world, but Soccer has gained in popularity to rival that. Of course the money aspect is still far behind what basketball brings, but in terms of dedicated hardcore fans, the sports are equals amd we're at the forefront of it all. Again, I'm basing this off what I heard discussed on the radio, and can't get a working link where I am located (I'm using my phone to do this) so if anyone can dig it up, that would be sweet.
  3. Now now. If there's one coach on that list that we can rely on to win one game, it's Ianello.
  4. Liking it, but i'm still thinking more badassedness is needed. Badassed? OK. What about "The A-Team"? You can use the old moving 'A' in the logo.
  5. Don't forget Euton. We burned his redshirt. We don't know exactly what we have with him, but he did come in as supposedly the most college-ready of our recruits. If McKnight needs a rest or makes some mistakes, Euton provides a serviceable replacement with a similar skill set.
  6. Why not compromise? The Exchange Street ROOligans. "ROOligans" for short.
  7. Makes you wonder what goes on in practice? I'm sorry to quote a Steeler's coach so much, but it's what I know. I'm paraphrasing coach Tomlin in a press conference from a few weeks ago. "if you saw Polamalu practice at the beginning of the week, you wouldn't even think he is going to start for you that week, he is bad at practice, but when it comes game time, he knows how to turn it up to another level most players don't reach" Point being, we need the players on the floor that are gamers, not practice superstars. Has everyone forgotten his last two performances? He was really out of his element the last time he saw the floor at the JAR. He quite simply might not be ready. If he never sees the floor, he'll never have a chance to improve. Could he really do that much worse than some of the players getting minutes now?
  8. Clayton Moore Article. Some good quotes in there. Moore definitely has a shot at getting the starting job and turning things around for us.
  9. LB Justin March commits to Akron! Given 3 stars by Rivals.
  10. Just bench Steve McNeese.
  11. Six spots left. This is where Ianello needs to prove that it's the coach and not the program that got all those recruiting rewards while he was at his other jobs. Pull off a few last-minute surprises. I remember hearing that this class would be heavy on JUCOs but to date we only have two recruits from that area.
  12. ScoutingOhio says that Kicker Anthony "A.J." Fox has verballed to Akron!
  13. Are both these guys not already commit's, One to Pitt and the other to Syracuse. If we can sway them this way it would be something!! The one who committed to Pitt was recruited by the old staff, and I think opened up his recruitment. I don't hold out much hope in getting either of these players, however. Ianello has twelve days to bring in seven more recruits. And they had better be some of the best recruits in the MAC if we want even a remote chance of getting to .500 this season.
  14. New offers. S Shutang Mungwa TE Sam Collura
  15. Full amount is $10 million.
  16. Want to eliminate the easy path? Play a balanced schedule. 6 home, 6 away games for every school. Hawaii can have 7 home and 6 away and any team that plays them can schedule an extra home or away. This forces BCS teams to travel to smaller schools, and it hurts their massive money-making disadvantage. I don't understand why 8-home game schedules are even allowed.
  17. He mentioned that in a post Sunday evening. I believe he was just talking about the FIFA Video game, saying how Portugal is his fav. team to play as. I am fluent in Patois by the way. *EDIT* I asked him to be sure. Yeah, that's what he was talking about. You did have me scared for a second when I first read this thread though. Btw check out http://www.translationdirectory.com/dictio...ctionary023.htm , it will help with Darren's posts lol Thank goodness. I was tipped off by a thread on Big Soccer saying that he was leaving to Europe, which led me to his Facebook post, which I clearly misinterpreted.
  18. Mattocks announced on Facebook that he's going to Portugal. Don't know if it's temporary or if he was offered a better deal than the MLS to go pro. My Jamaican internet lingo is a little rusty.
  19. Track gains a commitment from Pennsylvania
  20. We don't actually have a trophy case. We make up a banner to hang and then lock any championship hardware away in the bowels of the JAR. This goes for all sports.
  21. Hey LeBron. You gonna let some no-name show you up like that? Let's cut a deal. You get us $10 mil for the basketball program and you can cut all ties with UA and the city afterwards if you want.
  22. Maybe Can't was the only school that wanted him to play tailback? The bigger schools were all probably looking at him as a FB. Or maybe he wanted to play against his high school QB Tyler Williams, who is coming to Akron. Is it odd to have the #3 player at a position only have 3 stars? Anyway, I think we'll be much happier with Rossi taking carries as a HB power back.
  23. New offer: P Zach Paul We're probably recruiting him as a placekicker.
  24. Because that article doesn't just list QBs. Moore is the top QB on that list, but other players at other positions are listed ahead of him.
  25. Nick Rossi just got bumped up to a 4* recruit by Scout. Usually you see the opposite when a player verbals to a MAC school.
