  1. UA to hold an official celebration on Jan 18th in the JAR.
  2. Don't expect to get any respect. The MM poll has become increasingly biased against the MAC as the years have gone on. We don't have the right coaches voting. Only CMU's coach gets a vote, but in the past there were up to four MAC coaches contributing. CMU's coach mostly sees the MAC West, and so his perception of the conference is skewed toward it being worse than it is. Top 50 Mid-majors (MWC, C-USA, WAC, and A-10 are major conferences according to the poll) according to the RPI as of games played 1/9/11 are: 26 Butler 29 Old Dominion 30 Cleveland State 31 Gonzaga 37 Missouri State 39 St Marys 41 Portland 45 Princeton 50 Wichita State 52 Harvard 54 George Mason 56 Drexel 58 Valparaiso 63 James Madison 66 Vermont 67 VCU 70 Charleston 72 Oakland 73 Jacksonville 76 Long Beach State 77 Nicholls State 80 Coastal Carolina 84 Sam Houston State 85 Northern Iowa 86 Bucknell ------------------------------------ 88 Can't State 89 Austin Peay 90 Hampton 91 Miami (OH) 92 North Texas 93 American 94 Akron 97 Ball State 98 UCSB 99 Hofstra 100 Creighton 102 Robert Morris 103 Belmont 104 Wagner 105 Murray State 109 Wright State 110 Furman 113 Iona 116 Florida Atlantic 118 North Florida 121 Quinnipiac 124 Jackson State 125 Morehead State 127 Lipscomb 128 Presbyterian
  3. A connector to the fieldhouse. Alternatively, something to close in the south endzone, whether it be dorms or seating, or whatever to make it feel more enclosed.
  4. Doesn't look like it. Crutcher just verballed to Ball State. Really? Solich might have to sleep this one off. That's what ScoutingOhio said at the time. I see they changed it now.
  5. Ferri's been busy. ScoutingPA.com is now up and functional similar to what ScoutingOhio has. If it becomes as popular as ScoutingOhio has, it will be a valuable resource for keeping track of Zips recruits out of that state.
  6. Doesn't look like it. Crutcher just verballed to Ball State.
  7. This is a very good development. I'm still dissappointed in Georgio Bowers' transfer, but maybe Nick Rossi will come in here next year and earn the starting job? We're awfully thin @ the RB position right now. (Or H-back, whatever. I still don't know what that is.) The H-back position is a hybrid of the FB and TE positions. So basically a very athletic power RB. Makes me excited to think we even have someone capable of playing such a position. It's the guy you give it to when you absolutely must get a first down in short yardage.
  8. I've got the game on my DVR. Come on over, we'll order some pizza and watch Zeke destroy the flushes again. WOULD LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to come over....but I live in Pittsburgh!! Can u burn me a copy on DVD...I'll pay u for it??!!!! Well, it looks like I can't help you anyways. My 12 year old erased it this morning from the DVR. Had to make room for more Hanna Montana or some other nonsense. Sounds like someone needs a grounding. Don't be messing with dad's stuff!
  9. It will be replayed today at 4:00 PM on STO.
  10. Not really sure. I'm not watching it. Drew is funnier than Jim, so why let the lesser of the two host?
  11. For the record, attendance was counted as 5,019. Not too bad, although I really hoped for a sellout. Great crowd to advertise the Soccer celebration to, though.
  12. Listening to the players and their reactions has me hopeful. There is no better way to start off your conference season than a win over the best team (on paper) at home in a tight game. Better than a blowout because the team isn't overconfident. This exposed some weaknesses that we'll need to work on to win the MAC, but it also revealed some new strengths. Our guys are determined to get better, and this was the perfect way to build their confidence while also showing them just how great their potential could be if they work to improve it. All in all a good win. Zeke not getting manhandled by a stockier, shorter center is a great step forward and I think he proved to himself that he is able to go toe-to-toe with those guys. Abreu continues to mature into a key player (I think he might be able to dunk the ball, but is holding back his full athleticism to reveal it at a later time). Brett McKnight had the fire in his eyes tonight - you could tell just by looking at him that he wouldn't allow his team to lose if he could help it.
  13. It's a NE Ohio feel on Saturday Night Live tonight as Drew Carey hosts and the Black Keys perform. Pretty cool that things happened to line up like that. Maybe it's not a coincidence.
  14. I thought the students showed pretty well. No empty seats behind either basket and the south side was rocking. North side could use some work, with only Root4Roo44 and a few others near him making any noise. BTW, Party at Justin Greene's house!
  15. The title of this thread has nothing to do with trains. It has everything to do with raising the speed limit to 70mph, however.
  16. Our struggles to find a kicker continue. :wall:
  17. Looks like some of our coaching staff went back to Colerain to recruit some teammates of Zips verbal Tyler Williams.
  18. The 3-star rating is from ESPN. I stand corrected. If the "stars" thing goes anywhere beyond Sneetches, I admit I'm probably not the best resource. What's interesting with ESPN's ratings is that they are usually very different than Scout and Rivals, which usually line up pretty well. It gives you a different perspective on our recruits. Someone who might not be rated on Scout/Rivals might be a top MAC recruit according to ESPN. In fact, they have OT Andrew Bohan as our best recruit, while he is barely mentioned on the traditional recruiting sites.
  19. The 3-star rating is from ESPN.
  20. His tweets aren't any worse than some of our current athletes. I will say that eventually he and all the Zips using social networks will hopefully realize that everything they say is public and will be read by prospective employers and if they make it big young people looking for role models. Some are smart enough to keep their profiles private so they don't say something that their coaches (yes, of course they monitor that stuff) might not like.
  21. I'm pretty certain that a greyshirt doesn't have to sit out a year. He never was a part of the team at BSU, never practiced with them, and never had a scholarship. He was basically just a student with the promise of joining the team on scholarship next season. Essentially, last year counts as both his redshirt year and his transfer "sitting out" year. You get 5 years to play 4, and he used his one year of not playing.
  22. Olivia was as much a part of the team as any of the players. Zips fans need to watch this segment
  23. Came across an interesting post on Twitter and decided to investigate further. Rodnell Pierce is a Safety from Glenville who graduated in 2010. He verballed to the Ball State Cardinals and greyshirted this past season. It appears he is now transferring to the Zips following a coaching change in Muncie. ESPN rates him as a three-star prospect.
