  1. What's up with the big dude in the speedo? What's the point? http://twitpic.com/3etjtz/full That's Speedo Guy. What's the purpose of speedo guy, aside from embarrassing us? lol He's there to seduce the other team, so they're distracted from the game. Works better in basketball during FTs when he stands behind the basket.
  2. Hello. This is your wake-up call.

  4. About 20 Rowdies there, according to a pic posted by @followtheroo
  5. FCS playoffs running over on ESPN2
  6. Well, Zips fans got who they wanted. I hope it doesn't blow up in their faces like the last few times Zips teams have been in a championship game with the "preferable" match up.
  7. Watching the first half of this game, both teams look extremely slow. Not very impressive.
  8. Around this time of year the football coaching carousel begins to spin 'round and 'round at ever increasing speeds. Today, two rumors of interest came out that Akron fans would find interesting. The first is that Ball State has interviewed Curt Mallory, our current Defensive Coordinator. The second is that good ol' JD Brookhart is going to Colorado to be the tight ends coach / passing game coordinator / special teams coordinator.
  9. Referee assignment for Akron-Michigan: Kennedy, Penso, Grajeda, Wiley I have no idea who these refs are. Have we seen any of them before?
  10. Travel is payed for. I don't think we get any of the gate, though. Instead, the NCAA forces the participating schools to buy an allotment of tickets at a discount. It's up to the individual schools to sell those to the fans and recoup some money.
  11. New offer: OL Zenel Demhasaj, JUCO
  12. None. Zero. The only tournament the NCAA pays out for is the basketball tournament. Football is paid for by corporate sponsors; the NCAA doesn't pay a dime into it.
  13. Hockey is not a MAC sport. Miami didn't win, but even if they did it wouldn't count towards the MAC. So yes, if we pull this off, it will be the first MAC team national championship in history. It's hard to believe that since 1946, sixty-six years, not a single team in the MAC in any sport has won a championship.
  14. These are the seniors invited to the MLS Combine. Underclassmen usually get an invite if they make Generation Adidas, but that group hasn't been announced yet. Ampai and Korb were invited.
  15. Anybody else smelling a let-down game for Temple? We've had a long time to prepare for this and they just scored a major upset.
  16. New offer: CB Andre Givens
  17. According to several sources, this recruiting class is supposed to be heavy on JUCOs. But so far I see 14 verbals out of a 25-person class, all high schoolers, leaving 11 spots to fill. How many JUCOs counts as being more than usual? We saw 3-5 per year under Brookhart, so I have to imagine that we should see 7-10 to be considered "a lot". That's a large percentage of the remaining spots.
  18. Would you all like some cheese with that whine? Come on. These places are going out of their way to accommodate Zips fans and all everyone does is complain about it. You talk about needing to show establishments that the Zips need to be taken seriously, and here is a golden opportunity and all anyone talks about is how it's not good enough and they won't go. How are these places supposed to believe that doing business with akron fans is worth it?
  19. Playing BG twice is going to KILL us. They are amongst the bottom 10 teams in terms of RPI without many more chances to improve. It is going to take some big performances over these next couple weeks for the Zips to even stay in the top 75 by the end of the year. This conference simply isn't strong enough to support teams staying in the top 50. The only way we stay in the top 75 is by winning out. That means beating Temple, Minnesota, and Miami all on the road. Plus not losing a single MAC game. Can't is in the same boat as us.
  20. Our SOS will drop like a rock once we have to play other MAC teams. If weak MAC teams would schedule to win, while the traditional powers played the same schedules, this would be a multi-bid league. But instead, we are dealing with three teams in the MAC who still have zero D-I wins.
  21. A third verbal today. Wow. LB Jawan Poole chooses Akron. I put all three up on the first page, where you can find a list of all the Akron commits so far.
  22. Rivals reports that LB Jawan Poole has verballed to the Zips. He was one half of Linebacking a tandem that also featured Connor Crowell, an OSU commit. Welcome aboard, Jawan.
  23. You can get a look at FIU in a few weeks when they play Toledo in the bowl game in Detroit.
