  1. Yeah, it seems like a waste when you could literally just drive across the bridge over Route 8 to get to City Hospital.
  2. Next to the Info where? The parking lot behind the press tower? Lot 9? The new dorms? Each one opens up very different possibilities.
  3. http://cornellbasketball.blogspot.com/2010...ls-cornell.html "Cole Crizancic (Mentor HS) Mentor, OH, 5-11, identifies the schools pursuing him as Cornell, Harvard, Yale, Akron, Miami-Ohio, Vermont, and San Diego, among others." Must have great academics.
  4. Other NE Ohio cities struggling while Akron is experiencing a rebirth thanks to UA.
  5. Prep school player = Anthony Holmes, Safety. JUCO = Miklos Blake, Corner. It pretty much has to be those two.
  6. http://www.tribtoday.com/page/content.deta...9.html?nav=5024 I remember the hit that took him out. It was pretty brutal. Glad to see that he's coming back. Akron has been thin at Safety. I believe that Coach Okruch can get him ready to go for the fall. Surprised to see that he's penciled in as a starter even though he hasn't been cleared yet. "Okruch said Province possesses some of the best physical attributes of any defensive player for the Zips." High praise. The last time Okruch publicly praised a player that we hadn't seen much of, that player was Brian Wagner.
  7. It is strongly rumored on the A-10 and St. Joe's message boards that Akron is getting a St. Joe's transfer by the name of Bryant Irwin. He's a sophomore forward who averaged just over 4 pts and 2 rebounds in 13 minutes per game for an awful St. Joe's squad. They're talking like it's a completely done deal. I don't think he redshirted, so he could sit out a year and still have two to play. Do we even have room for another forward? I strongly doubt it. This implies that another player is leaving, likely a frontcourt player. And on the AEC conference board it says that UMBC's guard Chauncey Gilliam took an official visit to Akron sometime around April 19th.
  8. Four Zips will be playing on the team this summer. Kofi Sarkodie, Chad Barson, Zarek Valentin, and Perry Kitchen. That's four out of twenty players on the U-20 roster. There are no other college athletes on the team. Nobody from UCLA or Virginia or Wake Forest or any school like that. What an incredible accomplishment.
  9. Do they count? They were given honorary degrees.
  10. New Offer - TE Austin Traylor
  11. I saw this story today about the new deputy director of the CIA being an alumni of UA, not to mention an Akron native. CIA #2 sworn in. It made me wonder who else from UA outside of athletics could be or has been considered important on a regional or national scale. I'll start it off with the two obvious ones off the top of my head: Ray C. Bliss - Former Chair of the RNC Gary Taylor - Founder of InfoCision Management Corperation
  12. New Offer - DT Brandon Mitchell
  13. alright, ill bite. am I missing something here? Were you at the spring game?
  14. Everyone on ZN needs to vote for Akron. http://commoncensus.org/sports.php Akron has almost zero representation on their map, and that only came from what apparently is a group of hardcore Zips fans somewhere in Maine. I bet we can take Summit County, at least, from OSU. Getting some votes sprinkled around the country can't hurt, either. Please vote Akron as your first, second, and third choices. We can change this:
  15. This story is being posted everywhere. Also, Lemon led the team in sacks last season. That speaks to just how horrid the 3-3-5 defense was.
  16. A 40 means that they never received film to evaluate. They rate every single player who sends in film.
  17. It's the latter. They're really ramping up the recruiting ratings. They rate far more players than in the past. I would say they're even more thorough now than Scout and on par with Rivals.
  18. Dennis Kennedy expected to sign with CFL team the Edmonton Eskimos
  19. New offer - OLB Marquise Vann
  20. Maybe he'll be ready to come back to Akron as HC after we fire a few more head coaches.
  21. So more than 70 percent of people voted that Rob would be here for 6 years or more. That seems to be a pretty nice welcome?!?! More than 70% of Zips fans are insane.
  22. Sheesh. That's the second MAC player transferring out to get arrested this past week. Ball State's Myron Green arrested for DWI, under-aged drinking.
  23. I was at the event. Yeah, LeBron did it last year at SVSM, and he did it this year at the JAR because he played almost as many games in the JAR as he did at his high school. I want to know how they managed to get that car onto the court. There's no way to get it inside the building without removing the door frames. LeBron said that he originally intended on having the event in the football stadium, but the threat of rain caused them to move it indoors. I also saw Zeke and CJ Oldham sitting in the crowd. Plenty of people mistook Zeke for some unannounced NBA player.
  24. Plain Dealer says 4:00 PM. But they say it's only a rumor. http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/20..._insider_1.html
  25. The team benches I believe are bring relocated to the grandstand side of the stadium. It would make sense since the designs we've seen in the past called for the grandstands to be where they currently (albeit larger) with the team benches along the front. What designs. Are there pics of what this is supposed to look like? Yeah. They were posted to ZN a few months ago.
