  1. This means that there is finally a legit contender in the MAC West. Hopefully it forces the other West teams to step up their games.
  2. http://community.foxsports.com/goodmanonfo...-_first_edition I want to know where he got his info. He lists Swiech, Steward, and Sullivan as transferring, but does not have the schools they are going to.
  3. I noticed that too. NIU is one of them. I believe Ault started the pistol at Nevada and Indiana picked up some of it last year. Indiana is now almost exclusively running out of the Pistol. So we'll get to see pretty early how the new defense holds up against it. Can't is also moving towards it.
  4. I think when the dorms go up on top of Lot 9, things will get a bit better. Same when the team shop opens up. I want to see something behind the baseball field's fence.
  5. Lots of MAC teams are moving to the Pistol offense.
  6. Good luck. The athletic department might resist it for whatever reason, but it can't hurt to ask.
  7. That's terrible.
  8. We should also find out who is transferring. They have to sign with their new school during this signing period.
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5082169 Good news for Dambrot. Lots of great high school players play at the JAR during the summer camps.
  10. I've heard that they got a donor to sponsor the whole thing and rumor is that it will all be done by the fall. Could be wrong, just saying what I've heard. Unfortunately you are wrong. The first phase (Lights, new field, drainage, irrigation, etc.) is going to be completed on time. Phase Two (Grandstand) is in need of money and the university is looking to cut aspects of the stadium that will make it less than adequate for the level we aspire too. It's all about money now and Caleb needs help. No major donor has stepped forward. As with most capital projects, 80-90% of the fundraising is done quietly before it ever goes public or gets to people like you and me. Those deep-pocket donors are being pursued but none have committed. This project is in danger. No sponsor will step up. I think the fans need to come together and do some kind of fund-raiser. Go around the dorms and collect loose change, send out a flyer to the season ticket holders and to the entire alumni base (if the alumni association agrees to actually do something). Lots of small donations can add up.
  11. Hmm. Maybe it's Darion Anderson from NIU? He has one year left. He was also released from his scholarship after a serious falling-out with the coach. http://www.northernstar.info/ArticlePage.p...p;sectionfrom=4 In a situation like this, there is a possibility that he doesn't have the stipulations against joining another MAC team.
  12. Anybody know when it's coming out? So far, all I know for certain is that we are not playing Indiana.
  13. i got pics on my phone but i can't figure out how to get them from my phone to the internet... If you have Facebook, you can sign up for Facebook Mobile, which gives you an address to text the pictures to.
  14. Signing day is Wednesday. We already know three of the recruits. We have been promised at least one more, but have no information available to the public on who it might be. I believe that signing day marks the beginning of a two-week period for recruits to sign. Most do it immediately. JUCO players and transfers usually wait until the end.
  15. The final broadcast of Zips Live for the year is tonight, covering the spring game. Sure, spring games are meaningless, but they are an opportunity to make money. One that the University is not taking advantage of at all. Some schools advertise heavily and get tens of thousands of people paying lots of money to watch a scrimmage. Akron has free parking, free attendance, free festival admittance. The only thing not free is the food and drink. Ten people paying for tickets makes more money than 300 people getting in for free.
  16. Too bad our early season schedule is set up for failure.
  17. It actually hurts college players. The move was made so teams could sign players directly after leaving the academies, without them going to college. This means that the best players will choose to remain in their programs and get a paycheck earlier.
  18. Only 318 people are coming for sure, and half of that is the football team. That's about on par with attendance for the last game of the season.
  19. Well #26 DePaul (a program that has also had success with players from outside the US) ended the unbeaten season with a 6-1 defeat of the Zips (Link). Hopefully the girls will bounce back and finish the MAC season strong to win the title. Link Yeah. It's too bad. I do think they learned from the experience, though. They saw what it takes to compete on the national level. They are still the heavy favorites to win the MAC.
  20. This article was published on the day of the stadium opener. Coincidence? "Concessions generate about $6 per fan when beer is included." "The city of Memphis expects beer sales in the stadium will net roughly $200,000 a year for the city." That's a lot of money to be throwing away. The university needs to stop pretending to be morally against beer on campus and just acknowledge that money is king in college football. $200k is no small matter. We don't even get that much to play at places like Indiana or Syracuse ($150k each).
  21. He wasn't on last year's roster either.
  22. Added: RFR CB Frank Laury of SVSM HS, Soph. DT Ryan Cohen of Firestone HS, Soph. WR Charles Kennedy of Parma HS, Soph. QB Marc Pedro of Kettering HS, Soph. Kevin Rigano of Springfield HS, Soph. LB Kasey Schwing of Streetsboro HS, Soph. DE Paul Skolmutch of West Holmes HS, Soph. CB Nate Vidmar of Willoughby South HS Missing: DB Emmanuel Lartey, OL Adam Bice, LB Nate Schuler, P Eric Lee, LB Viktor Rajek, WR Richard Sandilands, OL Jason Sekinger Why are players going missing from the roster now? They don't become ineligible mid-semester. Are all the newly added guys walk-ons? Lots of sophomores showing up.
  23. I understand the coach saying something like that. But as the AD, he needs to be a bit more diplomatic.
  24. Check the roster. He's totally on there. That would be this Deangelo Williams, not the one who burned us in the Motor City Bowl. There are a bunch of new names added that I've never seen before.
