  1. I would keep printing and selling tickets until I ran out of ink!if they could stuff 8000+ in for that CSU game in the 80's they can fit 7000 in now.I would say we can fit 6,000 in there now. The blue chairs take up a lot of space that used to be just bleachers.
  2. Maybe if they didn't ease up on the discipline after a couple years they would have been more successful. If they have a month-long "hell week" this year but it only lasts 7 days a few years from now you'll see the same downward trend that we saw with Brookhart. They'll start off looking better under the new coach but with the previous coach's players but once the new coach has a team full of "his" players he eases up and we start losing again.I hope Ianello learns from the mistakes that his predecessors made.
  3. Less than 500 GA tickets remain. No word on how many student tickets remain. There were 1000 total. This game WILL sell out.
  4. This schedule puts a lot of pressure on winning at least one of the BCS games if we want to get to a bowl. The MAC screwed us again, killing our home-field advantage by giving us only two conference home games before the end of November.
  5. The final two home games are on TV. Buffalo will be on ESPNU, and Miami might be on ESPN2.
  6. It's a bunch of road games bookended by two home stands. Kind of a rough schedule.
  7. Never mind.Here is the official schedule, just posted on Ohio.com by Tom Gaffney:Sept. 4 — SyracuseSept. 11 — Gardner-WebbSept. 18 — @ KentuckySept. 25 — @ IndianaOct. 2 — Northern Illinois (homecoming)Oct. 9 — @ Can't StateOct. 16 — @ OhioOct. 23 — Western MichiganOct. 30 — @ TempleNov. 6 — @ Ball StateNov. 17— MiamiNov. 26 — BuffaloNo Bowling Green this year. Ball State is a winnable road game.Right now I see wins against Gardner Webb, Can't, WMU, Ball State, and Miami. Toss-ups against Buffalo and Syracuse.
  8. I was hoping we get Central. They'll be lucky to get four wins next season.I think we play OU on the road and skip Temple.
  9. We still don't have a director of football operations.
  10. Maybe it's our style of play. I don't think we play that much more physical than the rest of the MAC, and certainly not as much as Can't where they just barrel over the other team and then wonder why they got called for a foul.My guess is that the refs just don't see players like ours enough. They don't see lots of Zekes so they call over the back fouls when he rebounds above a guard because they think there's no way somebody could reach that far over somebody else without contact. They call traveling on Nikola seemingly out of habit. 75% of the blocked shots get called because they don't see enough of them during other games to realize that the blocks are clean. We're athletically out of place in the MAC and it hurts us.
  11. Word is that Ianello is demanding way more discipline than Brookhart ever did. I'm surprised that nobody has transferred out because they can't handle it.
  12. Don't be absurd. You need a top 30 RPI to even have a shot at the dance as a mid-major.
  13. What? No way. I hope somebody was able to record it to post on Youtube later.
  14. Great showing by Akron fans. We were louder than the entire BG contingent. Their attendance was terrible for senior night and the last game in that Memorial Hall clone before opening up the new arena.
  15. Magnitude 8.8 earthquake off the coast of Chile. For those of you who aren't into geology, that's roughly the equivalent of detonating all of the US's nuclear weapons at once in the same spot several times over. The entire Pacific Ocean is under a tsunami watch or warning. Sirens will be going off at 6:00 AM local time in Hawaii. Tsunami travel timesEnergy map.
  16. We'll be meeting at the JAR at 11:00 and heading out from there.
  17. UA gets a club Tennis team. Can only help the program.
  18. Alternating blue and gold would have been cool, so long as it wasn't ridiculously bright.
  19. I'd say if like Michigan gave the first offer we'd see him commit there right away...but this is Akron we are talking about. As much as I love the Zips I just don't know what would make him want to come here, instead of a BCS school...That's why we need to come out of the gate winning. Look at our offers so far. Scout list. 6 offers, and 5 of them have at least three stars, while the one that doesn't will be rocketing up the charts soon. The coaches are shooting high. We're not going after recruits that receive interest from lots of MAC schools. The only way to land them is to beat 2 of the three BCS schools on the schedule this year and to have a winning conference record. Show them that we're at least on the same level or above the BCS bottom feeders, not one of the worst teams in the country.
  20. None of our players should be the least bit tired. Nobody averages more than 30 minutes per game. Besides, they have an entire week to get ready for Can't.
  21. Maybe it's just early, but I'm not sure I understand this. What you're really saying is that if the Zips just won every game, the selection committee would have a hard time passing them up?Seems pretty straight forward, doesn't it?
  22. Wow. That's insane. But it doesn't matter if you can score 40 points every game, you'll ride the pine if you can't play defense on Dambrot's team.
  23. We approach it as a must-win game. If EMU wins the west and we lose to BG, we can't get the #1 seed even if we do beat Can't.
  24. The recruiting class has been announced.Michael Balogun, Perry Kitchen, Reinaldo Brenes, Martin Ontiveros, Richard Diaz Jr., Gabe Genovesi and Andrian McAdams are all Zips!
  25. +1I've never seen a problem with Buffalo fans, except .....Never mess with the national anthem.Never. No way. No how. No matter how cool you may think it might sound to amplify "home of the brave(s)", most patriotic citizens will rightfully consider it disrespectful of the true meaning and purpose of our national anthem, and think less of the University at Buffalo and its students. The Rowdies amplify "...and the hooooome of the Zips" all the time. Why no complaints until Buffalo did it?The Rowdies only do it when the band or a recording is playing. Never when there is a choir or singer, out of respect to their performance.
