  1. Did anybody happen to see who some of the recruits were? There were about 20 seats reserved in the north student section, and they were filled with recruits and their families. I was sitting too far away to see who they were.
  2. It's time! Every other MAC game is just a warm-up for the big show. The crowd will be big, thanks to the game being on ESPNU. Hopefully there are plenty of Zips fans there. This is a game where the seniors have to lead us. Jimmy Conyers' toughness will be a big part of the game. Chris McKnight needs to have another game like he did against Miami. I don't expect a big showing from Zeke because I think he's not prepared for this. Zeke has never seen a game like this in his career, nothing even comes close. If he does get inspired by the "big game" atmosphere, then that's great. I just see us playing Nikola more because he can take the abuse that's gonna be coming his way.The Golden Felons will try their hardest to injure our roster, especially if they think they are going to lose. Geno Ford does keep them under control more than Christian ever did, but these games bring the worst out of his players, and Laing Kennedy just doesn't care enough to keep things in check since he's about to retire.
  3. We usually get our schedule information from other school's announcements. For example, Indiana just announced that they are playing Akron in Bloomington on September 25th. That's more than our own athletic department has acknowledged.I guess we'll all just have to wait for the announcement to come from Syracuse.
  4. I think the key for Zeke is to get him going early. He feeds off his own success. If you run a few plays for him at the beginning of the game, he'll continue to improve over the course of that game. If he doesn't do well early, he won't play well at all. He does thrive in big games, so it will be interesting to see how he responds this saturday.
  5. You mean a podcast? I like it. Pretty much every radio station has the ability to put up a podcast of their shows.
  6. It takes time to figure out which teams will get screwed with Tuesday night home games!!!Only the ones that aren't on TV because the ESPN contract demands that they have "choice".
  7. Maybe. But I don't like the idea of wearing an extra shirt when we all know how the temperature goes up with a big crowd. It's going to be about 110 degrees in there.
  8. We don't learn of our schedules early, as a rule. A large part of that is the MAC front office making it impossible to set things up in advance because of the screwed up scheduling that we endure because of Temple. It's a complete crap shoot. Something I was hoping would be partially remedied with a new AD, but instead nothing has changed.
  9. Who thought up a "white-out"? Are you serious? That would have worked last season when the student sections wore white. Now that they need to wear their blue shirts to get down to the seats behind the baskets, it's going to look stupid. As for asking people to wear their own white shirts, that's SOP for large sporting events. They can't afford to hand out a t-shirt to every person who walks in the door. We could be pushing 6k, and that can add up quickly.
  10. All the Zips apparel that I own is made by either Gildan, Russel Athletics, or Champion. Most of it came from the team shop, but some of is from Kohls on Arlington (they have a very different selection of stuff than the team shop, and I even prefer their stuff most of the time).
  11. Our future schedules page seemingly hasn't been updated beyond 2006.
  12. I haven't been impressed with Barnes and Noble running the team shop, at all. Is there any company out there willing to take over? Who runs the Aeros team shop at Canal Park?
  13. First he writes an article about how weak our schedule is, then advocates scheduling losing teams like YSU and Cleveland State. Can't he make up his mind?I do want to play Cleveland State, just to deliver them the beatdown they've been putting off for the past few years. Until Gary Waters honors the contract stating that CSU has to play us at home after we honored our half by playing at CSU and at a neutral site, it will never happen.
  14. Golden makes about $600k at Temple. The ECU job is going for about $1.5 million. Around here ECU doesn't get much respect for some reason, but it is a much better job than Temple.
  15. I'm really getting tired of being jobbed by the refs.Jim Haney is a name we should always remember, and always hate.
  16. There is a webcast on UB's athletic site, but you need Realplayer installed to watch it. Installing that pos isn't worth it to me, so I'll be listening to French on 1350AM.
  17. They usually have a MAC Game of the Week. Don't know why they picked what might be the worst two teams in the country for this week's game, but it is what it is.Our home game with EMU, and the road game at Ball State will be shown on FS Ohio.
  18. If 5'11" is correct he may be 3 or 4 inches too tall to play safety for us.He just committed to BGSU.
  19. The impact of Infocision Stadium on revenues.Today must be a feature day on UA's athletic budget.I like the innovation taking place within the ticket department. Having full-time ticket salespeople instead of having employees piggyback that with their actual jobs. Plus handing out commission for the number of tickets sold, to provide incentive. Let's see if this pays off. Very few universities do something like this.
  20. A big road win for the Zips. Akron is now 9-8 and 3-1 in the MAC. Next up is a trip down to Athens.
  21. Zips up 49-31 with 3:46 to go.
  22. Glad to see Coach Okruch staying on. He did a great job with the linebackers from what I saw, and now he has the chance to do the same with the safeties. And the special teams could certainly use some shaping up.Not too sure about Frisman Jackson. He had a great collegiate career, but he didn't do much in the NFL. A wait-and-see hire.
  23. Either this team is playing incredible defense or Miami can't hit the side of a barn.
  24. The five worst hires in College Football so farWho made a worse choice: USC with Lane Kiffin or Akron with Rob Ianello? Ouch.
  25. I'm kinda glad we jumped onto the coaching carousel as early as we did. Losing a head coach this late into the process is a killer.I do hope he jumps, though. The MAC East gets a whole lot easier without him in the picture and with Turner Gill already gone.
