  1. last I heard, the stadium was now over $64 million. Add in the field house/rec center and you have about $110 million. But those are only the most visible changes. In the past 5 years we have built a completely new softball stadium to move the games away from Firestone stadium. We added a grandstand to the outdoor track and also added in brickwork to blend it in with the stadium. All of the team athletic offices in the JAR have been re-done and are now very nice. Schrank Field was built, or at least received a new playing surface. We just installed new hoops and hoop stands in the JAR. And all that is just off the top of my head.
  2. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...ce_schools.htmlElton lays out how much each MAC school is investing in their athletic programs (on top of the operating budget). Akron blows the MAC out of the water and it's not even remotely close. We're spending BCS level money on our department and I don't think it will slow down any time soon with the soccer stadium and basketball arena in the planning stages. This is one of the big factors that BCS schools look at when they think about adding a school to their league. How much are you willing to invest in your programs?
  3. JD needs to come out and show that the team can rebound from a loss. This game needs to be a total blowout, even at the risk of boring the crowd. If Morgan State scores more than a TD it will be disappointing, and if we score less than 30 against them it will also be disappointing. We need to come out psyched and ready to kick some ass.
  4. http://www.gozips.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB...TCLID=204789154Remember when he said they were working on a different way to communicate the snap count? It didn't work, which really hurt how the offensive line was playing. We'll also see a lot more of Matt Rodgers in the future. It's good that he's getting experience even while Jacq remains the main QB. It was a mistake during the 2006 season that we didn't play the backups hardly at all and ended up with three complete unknown quantities the next fall camp. I think that this will help a lot for next season.
  5. Less than 3,000 tickets remain. It's essentially sold out. They're selling 30,000 tickets (including student tix) and there are only 27,000 seats. We're into Standing Room Only territory!
  6. Anybody else see the gigantic 18-page special on the stadium in the newspaper? Great stuff, tons of articles.Still, I wonder how many tickets it will sell. What I've noticed is that people are more aware of the football program, but they're not at the point where they will begin following it or attending games. Only a winning team can push them over the edge. But it can't just abe a winning team in the MAC, it needs to be one that wins a good amount of non-MAC games too. The Indiana and Syracuse games are the key to that.
  7. This weekend pretty much answered the question of whether we would dominate the C-USA like we do the MAC.
  8. I'll be on campus early that morning.I'll probably stop by and cheer on the volleyball team at 11:00 and when that's over I'll head to the stadium.
  9. And now a pair of cards on Tulsa. I'm guessing they're because of frustration. Playing Akron seems to cause a lot of teams to start committing hard fouls.
  10. Rodgers will get plenty of playing time on Saturday. I think we'll have decided on who gets the majority of snaps by week 4. I would like to see Nicely redshirt if possible.
  11. What happened? It looks like we got carded on the team? Was Coach porter going off or was it a rowdy bench? And how'd Teal get his with a card too?
  12. That was fast.Follow the game here
  13. Women's team remains undefeated, after tying Kentucky in Lexington. I think we may just have another winning program on our hands.
  14. http://www.cstv.com/gametracker/launch/gt_...artschool=&It will turn on at 8:30 PM.Or if you want to follow the women's soccer game, it's on at 5:00 PM - http://www.ukathletics.com/gametracker/lau...artschool=&
  15. Speaking of paydays, what the hell did we get for this game?
  16. Just a guess, but I think they will only give out the 5,000 student tickets. If we oversold, the students will be moved to the hill and the extra seats that are freed up will be sold for profit.
  17. Establishing the run is a lost cause. You need to back the defense off first, especially when they're heavy up front. It's football 101, and Shane Montgomery isn't showing that he understands that.
  18. Imagine that. We throw the ball and we pick up yards. Run and it's a loss. What a revelation!
  19. How do you know whether your secondary sucks or not? We haven't even thrown near them.
  20. Now I understand why Harris and Montgomery were fired from their last jobs.
  21. No more home openers against teams like this. Play a 1-AA team so you can figure out your problems. No paycheck is worth this.
  22. Remember when JD said that he learned from the OSU game? When the defense gave it everything they had but he didn't play to win?He didn't learn a damned thing.
  23. Now is when you put Matt Rodgers in the rest of the game and let him win the QB job outright. And where is Devoe Torrence?
  24. Why didn't we go for in on 4th and a foot? Afraid you'll give something away, Shane?Have we taken a shot down field yet? It's easy for them to constantly overcome the O-line when we're not even throwing the ball.
  25. Zach, feel free to disagree, but I think the Zips O is not adjusting to the speed of the PSU D. It's hard to explain how 320-lb linemen can move that quickly, but the Lion front seven can . . . .I will respectfully disagree. We've been practicing against our own defense for a while, which is itself very fast. Maybe not as fast as PSU, but certainly faster than most other defenses we'll see all year.
