  1. Just found out that the Wisconsin game should be on channel 334 for Time Warner customers this Saturday. Unfortunately it won't be in HD, since they are more focused on just getting the feed up and running than providing "extra" services like HD or video on demand, although those will come eventually.Just remember to watch it on mute with the radio on because the announcers are going to be obvious Big 10 homers.
  2. How do we know QB is bad? Maybe the guy has improved? I know...and monkeys might fly out of my butt too. But Jack is our QB, and he's had 9 months to mature. I'm going to see what he can do in 2008 before burying him. Maybe...just maybe he surprises us all?JD has been pretty consistent with his praise of Jacq. It seems like one of the few things he is sure of about his team right now. He didn't have that confidence last year with either QB. I think he will be above average this year as a decision maker and leader, but his performance rests on having plenty of WRs stepping up.

  4. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in..._breakdown.htmlNot much we haven't heard already, but it's nice to see at least one guy in the media think we're better than what the predictions have been saying.Good insight into the 3-3-5 wearing down over time being our biggest defensive problem.
  5. Also, the Syracuse game will be broadcast on FSN Ohio, as well as the Cincinnati game (but I hope everybody who could get that channel will be at the game, not watching it at home).
  6. What network was this on? I saw his first two games on Seahawks network, but not this one.ESPN
  7. The coaches want him desperately to become the second-stringer. He doesn't have to look like he could take the job from Hasselbeck, he just needs to look competent.
  8. BIG TEN NETWORK, TIME WARNER REACH DEAL! Here's hoping they get the feed up by Saturday, and it's not just the main channel. I want to see the ZIPS play, not see YSU get stomped by some overhyped team.
  9. Tell me the tourneys that collapsed and Ill give you some insight. Was referring to the original post from GoZips that said Ohio State was attempting to put together an exempt tourney but it collapsed.I believe it is impossible for something that has never existed to collapse. One of these tourneys will collapse: the EKU tournament, the San Juan Shootout, or the Cancun Classic. None of them have enough teams to be held right now. It's like a game of chicken to see who folds first. I think that once one of them goes under, most of the teams from that one will be scooped up by the other two.
  10. If one of the tourneys collapses, some of the teams from that one should be able to fill the spots for the other ones. Let's just hope that we aren't on the outside looking in when that happens.
  11. It's all up to the players and their attitude. If they go into each game ready to win, then they should win. If they go in with a losing attitude, they will lose. It's pretty simple. It's not like we have an incredibly rough schedule. Every game except for Wisconsin is easily winnable, and even the Badgers are beatable if we play our cards right and get a few good bounces.
  12. The best part is that as you advance, you get better and better opponents. It's much more beneficial than playing just one game, and then a scrimmage against some D-II team.
  13. http://www.bnd.com/508/story/445157.htmlIt's mid-way through the article. It's mostly a nice story, but the thing that gets me is that the Beacon (I don't like linking to them anymore, so I try to find mirror sites of the stories) still hasn't gotten around to understanding that we have a world-class soccer program right next door to them.
  14. I think it could get confused with a certain man in Washington, and I don't think you want to be stirring up that kind of controversy.
  15. Absolutely. I was walking around there during the game, trying to visualize how it would look based on that one drawing we have for it. It's going to be a major improvement. I only hope they keep the hill behind the goal. That hill is the best thing our current stadium has going for it.
  16. Firestone Park is also getting a HUGE renewal! They're tearing down the projects near the swamp to the south of the Firestone HQ, and turning them into a major retail area.
  17. Then they would have to sanction Can't as well. They gave up and rested their starters against OSU.I'm with you, though. You play every game to win, otherwise you develop a losing mentality.
  18. So tonight was the first home game for ANY Zips sport. I'm glad to say it was a win, with the Women's Soccer team grabbing the win over visiting Pitt. The first half was pretty evenly played, with the score 2-2 at the half. In the second half the Lady Zips played at a whole other level, and blew the Panthers away by scoring four more goals to make it a 6-2 win.I was encouraged by the overall attendance, but kind of disappointed by the overall lack of AK-Rowdies. I think there was only one of them.Anyways, it was a great win over a Big East team, and an awesome way to kick off the College Sports season. If you're starving for some Zips games after the long summer, your only choice for seeing them play at home for some time seems to be Soccer, with the Women's team playing again next Friday and the Men's team playing on Sept. 5th and 7th in the Akron tournament.
  19. UA is automatically placed in tier 4 because of something beyond our control: state-mandated open-enrollment. I believe that we would be somewhere around tier 2 if the people in Columbus would allow us to drop that.
  20. They're called "trolls". They do it because it the only way they can get their kicks is to piss other people off. They like to create reactions, possibly because it is the only way they know how to get other people to aknowledge their existance. Their situation is a sad one, being the lowest of internet life-forms.
  21. Can a major Market St Corridor Project be far behind? It's already happening. They're re-paving the whole East half of Market, giving it new sidewalks, planting trees, planting grass, ect. The only thing they need to do is find a way to move all those businesses with eyesore-buildings.
  22. The structure is currently at least 50 feet tall.It will really look imposing when you see it from down in the pit, below street level. Don't forget that the stands will go down just as much as they go up.
  23. HEY!!!! THE FIRST STEEL OF THE NEXT 3 FLOORS JUST WENT UP!!! DOH... it was just the small crane... looked like more steel Don't feel bad. That smaller crane has fooled me a couple of times. On the bright side, that is just about how high the final tower will be when it's completed.
  24. Where's the love for Andre Jones? He was just as good at returning kicks, and he should be the top punt returner in the country this year.
  25. Back to the topic at hand...Does anybody else worry that we are suffering with Browns Fan Syndrome© here, regarding who we want to start? The backup is always thought to be better than the starter when suffering from this illness. Here's the problem: This is Matt's last chance to earn a starting spot for the next two years. If we stick with Jacq, he will be a senior next year and will have a firm grasp on the position for next year. If Matt becomes the starter early this season, Jacq might transfer out so that he can finish his career as a starter somewhere in D-IAA country. The first two games will tell us what the real situation is. I hope that Jacq has made great strides like JD says, but I also hope that Matt is pushing him the whole time. We should rely heavily on the run game to start the season, since out WR corps is a bit of an unknown, but it might also mask any QB problems that could manifest later during MAC play and that would ruin the season. I think the whole thing is a huge gamble, with no clear outcome either way. Never have I seen so much riding on the performance of one player. The play of the QB will make the difference between a 2-10 season and a bowl game. It's frightening.
