  1. I wonder when the "payback" will be. I know it's coming. Will they trash the Rubber Bowl? or will they try to get the new stadium, even though none of the existing structure will be visible once it's complete?Won't they feel like asses when it's announced that one of the bonehead Can't fans started it all.
  2. The last major piece to building this, besides landscaping, is the demolition of Memorial Hall. It isn't scheduled officially, but it seems imminent.
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3525636Looks like we won't have to worry about Cinci having an experienced QB when they come to the RB this year.
  4. It just seems like that sorta thing. I'm not saying it's impossible, but most people are not crazy enough to go all 'mission impossible' and ninja into rival territory and vandalize.People who walk by a spot everyday and more comfortable with the area are much more likely to try to pull something like this off. In fact, I would bet money it's someone who lives on or near campus.A few years ago, two kids at Walsh High School decided to take a truck and turf their home football field a few days before their rivalry game with Hoban. At first, all kinds of hell broke loose at Hoban with police investigations, "retaliation" vandalism, and lots of badmouthing happening between students. They day of the game, before school was over, the two Walsh kids were caught and the school tried to sweep it under the rug with a "no hard feelings, right?" thing. My point is, stuff like this happens more than you think, where the school's own fans pull something off and blame it on the other school. If you've ever watched MTV's 'High School Stories", you'll see something like this every other episode (note: I don't watch it anymore, but it always seems to be on the TV when i walk in the room and someone else is watching).
  5. That's just stupid, whoever did it. A little bit funny, but very stupid. I doubt it was an AK-Rowdy, because they all have those shirts so they know how to spell their own group's name.I don't know how parking works at K.SU, but if somebody tried this at Akron, they would have gotten a parking ticket without a pass, even though it's summer. If it's the same deal over there, it was either a student with a pass or they walked to the stadium with their vandalizing equipment in hand.
  6. There is not really a sense of scale from the cams. I was driving by it yesterday, and it really struck me just how big that thing is. I drive by it maybe once a week, but since they started on working on the second half of the home side, it's really become a monster.
  7. I can take a guess... With the rule change from a 25-second play clock to a 40-second one, there's a lot less risk in doing it in a non-hostile environment. On the road in a loud stadium, the QB needs to be able to be a leader out there and make judgment calls in case communication with the sidelines is cut off by bad weather or a rowdy crowd.
  8. There's some irony here, somewhere...
  9. We have, with out a doubt, one of the most talented teams in the MAC, and certainly one of the deepest at most positions. But, like every one else has said, the one position that matters the most could easily ruin our season. JD has said that Jacq has made great strides in the offseason, and he has never ending praise for Matt Rodgers, but I won't beleive it until I see it for my self. Until then, I have every right to be worried after last year's disaster.
  10. GoZips.com says he has three years of eligibility starting in 2009.
  11. That looks about right... for now.Give it a week and a half, and we'll see if Rodgers or possibly even Jordan Miller will be able to make a push for the top.
  12. He apparently went to the same HS as Ryan Bain. I wonder if that helped him to make his decision.
  13. How far did it go? A few hours in the court system before it was thrown out. It didn't even go to a jury because there was no evidence at all. Just an accusation.
  14. Didn't they lose 65-0 in their 2008 bowl game? And they lost about half their defense to arrests in the off-season. I see BG scoring some points this year, but not near enough to match what their defense will yield. They'll suck. How can you say they suck? They killed us last year. They do suck. We just sucked worse.
  15. He is innocent, since according to the constitution people are innocent until proven guilty. He is not a molester, by any means. You obviously haven't been following his story. The others that were found guilty had consenting sex, but it was underaged and therefore a crime.I want you to find me one successful program in the last twenty years that hasn't had at least one kid on it that had a run-in with the law in a given year. Big programs sweep problems under the rug after the fact. Akron gets blasted for taking a kid who didn't do anything more than be accused of a crime, but it's a "risk". You can't win if you don't risk anything.
  16. Fence them off from UA property on all sides possible. Make it at least two stories. We can paint giant UA murals on the side facing the stadium. It blocks the blight from view of all the fans.Send them (and a few ignorant/uninformed students) the message that they are NOT part of the UA community. They are simply ghetto dives on the wrong side of Exchange Street.
  17. Maybe we should run a wishbone offense this year, like Army is doing. Speaking of which, how well do you think the 3-3-5 would do against a wishbone? My guess is that it won't be pretty.
  18. This is great news! One question, though: what's up with all the RBs? I know that both Andrew Johnson and Dennis Kennedy are graduating after this year, but we have Alex Allen and Devoe Torrence (if he doesn't play LB), not to mention Gary Pride. You can never have too many running backs, they say. But couldn't this cause someone to transfer out, or switch positions?Maybe JD should think about switching to a flexbone-style offense - a wishbone/spread hybrid - to take advantage of all the talent.
  19. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/others/0-0-131/...e-hot-seat.htmlThis time according to ESPN's non-BCS coverage. I want him to stay until his contract is up, but I'm not sure if that will happen. I simply can't see him keeping his job if the Zips finish last in the MAC East. We can't afford to have a new coach trying to break in a new system as we open the stadium. It would be a disaster.Everything hinges on how well his QB plays this year. Let's hope that JD can work his magic on the Offense like he did on special teams last year.
  20. Well, to be fair to that metaphor, tOSU is the bigger program. However, the point still holds. Even if there is (unfortunately) a wider desire from your subscribers to read about the down state team, that only legitimizes covering THEM, and it does not legitimize over-covering them seemingly to ignore the hometown team.Back on topic, I had to laugh at my last post on this article though. It just occurred to me that writers can't win. If you take a position on an issue, people slam you for bias journalism. If you stay somewhat neutral, people slam you for not taking a stand or having a position.Still, there was something sorta weak and timid about that whole thing. I can't put my finger on it. Even if you didn't want to have a subjective opinion, there just had to be a better way not to tiptoe through the bed of tulips while trying to appear to dance. For those of you that are ignorant, there really is a college in Columbus called Columbus State. Now carry on with your bashing OSU. Just thought I would mention that. That's why I am going to start referring to them properly from now on: "Ohio A&M"
  21. BFH--Get the hell off this board...Screw Beanie....Go spend your time on tosu's board.Hey. Go easy, there. I haven't seen him once give us any trouble.
  22. Yes. The residence halls would give the stadium a modernized Camden Yards feel to it. They would also block the view across Exchange towards the pawn shop, and across Spicer towards the frats and old houses.
  23. We all knew this was coming.http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/26325594.htmlI'm really hoping that we don't have to stare at the back of those ugly-ass bum hangouts when we open the stadium. A cool idea would be to build a two-story high privacy fence around the UA property, separating us from them. It sends a nice message of "you are no longer a part of this community".
  24. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/26325694.htmlA very nice story on Devoe and what is happening here, on what this all means. It's a four-page story, which likely means it will be leading the Sports page when the newspaper comes out this morning. May want to get some damage control in the comments before the inevitable troll brigade comes out.
  25. Yeah, but the other one is Can't, so it's all good. I guess whoever wins gets to come off the list.So let me get this straight... it won't bother you if the zips are terrible as long as Can't is equally terrible??will you be happy with a 1-11 if the one is Can't State?Of course not. We should beat Syracuse, too, if you go by that list. What I really meant is that the flushers can't say anything about it, because they're on it too. Just like they can't say anything about Devoe Torrence because they want to sign Tyree Evans in basketball.
