Seeing as how we'd probably have to play him when he's at Miami... do we want him to go to OSU?We'd get to avoid him, but it's kind of a slap in the face to the MAC.

I think the main point here is that regardless of star rating, Akron isn't seriously competing with any large BCS schools for individual recruits. Those schools are all fighting for the same kids, and in some part because of that, they get rated more highly. You don't see USC and OSU battling over a 1-2* recruit.Likewise, it's not as if the large BCS schools are recruiting based soley on rating... "Yes, we'd like to offer so-and-so a scholarship because we saw on rivals that he got 5 stars... what?... no, that's ok, we don't need to see any film on him, just tell us his position and we'll start him in the fall..."Having a high star rating is an indication that there is a better chance that individual will successful. That's all it is... the higher our average star rating gets, the more probable that our recruits will be studs.Can we have a whole class of 1 stars that end up playing in the NFL... I guess, but it's far less likely than if we had a class of all 5 stars.Who's arguing this?

I don't know if I agree with all this talk about going 6-0, and how all the west teams are inferior. Granted two of our conference losses were in overtime, but we're sitting at 2-3 with a young developing squad, and while looking at West teams, including the West leaders, some fans think we should steamroll them all?!If we go 4-2 or 5-1 against the West, I'll frankly be happy. As happy as the K.S.U win made me, I don't think that beating a bad Can't team (after they came back on us and were leading) and beating a weak YSU team makes me think that we're back to being a MAC elite this season.We may win the whole damn thing, and I'll be ecstatic, but I won't go crazy about this team winning two games it should have won and thinking we'll run the table.Just my two cents.

@Miami, always a tough, even for our best teams of the past few yearsIf we lose by alot, it still doesn't tell us much about the team because of the intangibles (road game, great opponent, first MAC game for many of these kids)If we lose close, I feel fine with that and can hope for revenge on the return tripIf we win, then I start thinking this enigma of a team has a fighting chance to win the MAC.I think we lose a close one 58-53

Here's the first topic I've ever started and it comes as a rant after the 2nd cup of coffee but before the boring meeting I'm dreading...STO and FSN... is there any chance I can see an Akron basketball game ever, ever?I moved to Columbus and on top of the fact that I have to listen to Buckeyes pregame, game, postgame, call in shows, coach shows, fan run shows, homer fan run shows, homer play-by-play ran shows, and "oh, by the way, here's something about the cavs", I can't see an Akron game to save my ever loving life.Seems to me that FSN and STO service Ohio, whose second conference after the Big10 is the MAC... and the Big10 has it's own network now... so FSN and STO must be falling all over themselves to get some games on, right? Right??The closest I friggin' get is a CSU call-in show (throw up in my mouth) sandwiched between a replayed "Top 10 most zaniest and testosterone-fueled things to happen in a lockerroom show" (whoooooaaaa, I've never seen that Ryan Leaf footage before!!!) and a matchup of Duke vs West Virginia in Girls Basketball. I would vote the Miami Redhawks.... because try as they might, they don't have 45% of the country rooting for them.

We win because we are the better team.We've only lost games to teams that the consensus was they were better than us. Balls Tate was a much better team, it's good we played as well as we did. Cincy and BGSU were slightly better and we lost in heart breaking fashion. But trust that if we won either of those games, they would have been upsets. The way in which we lost was painful, but those losses weren't like losing to army or syracuse or other teams worse than us.We beat teams we should beat, lose games we should lose. This is the truth, but is contrary to what I hear some on these boards say.The remaining schedule is teams that are worse than us or, at best, a tossup. We could/should win out or maybe drop one. If we start losing to teams worse than us, then I'll get worried and mad at the coach.For now, EMU is worse, so we beat them.

Most of the time the offense has more than 6 guys blocking on the line? 7 lineman/TE's? We facing alot of double tight and power formations that I don't know about?
