Cams went off line at 2PM
-
I'm hoping the cams stay on until the UA runs onto the field.
-
That's an awesome sight watching the place fill-up
-
That is odd.I would have thought they'd been out there by now.
-
Great link...thanks!Now all we need is Tailgate Cams!I was just thinking that.I would love to see the UofA first on campus gameday experience.I hope our locals going to the game takes lots and lots of pictures.

Toledo is 0-1, and was 3-9 last season. They're up against high school football on a Friday night. That's tough for a MAC program to overcome. You're missing the most important point. 9:00 start. When I go to a college football game, the only thing I want to start at 9:00 is the digestion of my halftime hot dog. I wouldn't blame some people for not going. Also, Colorado is a terrible team. They lost to Colorado State last week at home and the entire country go to see it. People aren't stupid. They will not pay to go watch crap at 9:00. The Big 12 Conference is another conference that is too big. They need to kick two or three weaklings out of the confernce and go to round robin play and eliminate their conference championship game. They should give Colorado and Iowa State the boot.20,082 official attendance. The glass bowl has official capacitu listed at 26,000 plus.A few factors I belived led to less than full Glass Bowl.Toledo was 0-1 coming into the game and coming off a ugly 3-9 seasonThe game was played on Friday at 9PM. Ohio HS football is still big despite the state's current economic woes and urban flight that has somewhat destroyed the once proud inner city programs. IMO, had this game been played Thursday or Saturday night. There would have been a lot more fans.

I think they did a great job given this project just started in late Jan 2008. If, they'd had a two full years like the construction company had to build Minnesota new stadium. I'm sure the 2% would be done as well as further along on floors 2 through 4 in the press tower that won't be completed until next year.I'm looking forward to all the people who claimed the project was not behind schedule and would be 100% done by this Saturday afternoon telling me how wrong I was. You're wrong. The stadium is done I'm sure you'll argue and say it's not. Knock yourself out. But, it is and they were never 45 days behind schedule.

How about a BJ report?http://www.ohio.com/news/58861552.html :blink:Why would you doubt the reports of our good people here.

If it was, then they did it this afternoon after I left because I was parked right next to it in the morning. They did tame the jungle that the lawn had grown into earlier this week. It was still there this afternoon at 1. It was gone as of 5:30 when I drove by, all that remained was a glorious pile of wood. That great news.I hope they throw Morrison Sr under the jail when his appeals run out. We never would have gone through this if not for Him and his greedy son.

Wouldn't it be ironic if someone shanks a field goal and the ball crashes right through the roof of one of those things.Ha! More likely, it would bounce off the roof, all the way to the Rubber Bowl! You got that right.I asked my brother who works in construction as site foreman in the Akron area. He told me the guys in trades who do that kind of work. All have said the repeated roof work makes no sense unless UofA construction manager keep asking for specs changes. They still should have been up there and done months ago after the framing was done. Why they're up there again yesterday and today is crazy.

This is the first time I've seen the lights on. I take it all back about the lights complaints. It looks great.

They also did a good job not allowing Firestone vs. East and Buchtel vs. Firestone. They obviously don't want any trouble at the games.Firestone lost to Twinsburg 51-6 last nightDon't expect many fans at the Firestone games new stadium or not.
-
I hope they move the Out House by the end zone facility before the open house tomorrow.

They only added the St. V/Hoban game after the Morgan State date was announced. They were previously slated to play at Green Field.Actually, the original site of the game this year was Hoban's Dowd Field, until the Info date became available. That's correct.UofA wanted to be the 1st game at the Info and Hoban-St V was going to be at Hoban this year. When UofA added the Morgan St game. They called Hoban-St VM and told them the Info was available for their game. They usually draw 15,000 to 20,000 for this game.

That's great.

In the golden years of City Series football back in the 1970'sAll of those would have been a great draws. But, the following is sorely lacking these days.I'm afraid most of those will see sparse crowds unless the teams are having a decent season.Firestone has three games at the Info and they went from City Champs in 2007 to 0-10 in 2008.They'll have to do far better than that to get a following.
-
Nice! Guys back on the roof of our favorite buildings too. I think they are waxing it.They're back again today.
-
It's the new game strategy called the stop and go. the whole team pauses for a sec, moves to the next position, pauses again,...etc. It's a bold move but lets see how it works on gameday. I'm shocked this is the longest period the cams have been on for practice. The team came out on the field on Aug 15th and within minutes the cams were off. But, they're still running today.

Very, very ugly. That's one of the many stadiums I've seen in my travels and still one of the ugliest I've ever seen. (I would only rate the Old Pitt Stadium and old WVU Stadium and uglier and they're both gone) It wasn't worth going out of the way just to see it. I wouldn't mention that one or Wallace Wade in the same sentence with nice and stadium.
-
And yet more work on it - I believe this is the titanium and gold inlay going in? (maybe as a precursor to testing the titanium bridge). By the way I was in North Carolina over the weekend and checked out the stadiums at ECU, UNC, NCSU and Duke. Though smaller the Info looks just as nice as any of them and is way better than Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke.I'm going to post the links to some new buildings they built at the South Pole awhile back to replace some older buildings. They've put more covering on the roof to the stairwells at the Info endzone facility, then I saw them put into a building at the South Pole.

Was Massillon's number before or after they took out the entire South Side seating? That's the current capacity. Massillon was always around 17,500 and they'd pack in 20+ when they hosted Mckinley every other year. They didn't lose that much seating when they did all the renovations.

Hey, he asked someone to tell him it wouldn't be cool, and I did. Personally, I think it would be Pimptastic to have the championships at the Info.It would be great to hosts the State HS Championships.A win, win for UofA and City of Akron.I don't see any negatives at all and I hope UofA outbids Canton and Massillon for the games.
-
I don't think they forget to build stairs. Most stadiums use portable stairs for bands to get on and off fields at your newer stadiums or stadiums with the high walls. I also seriously doubt you'll have a heat issue for most of the home games in NE Ohio.
-
Why would they? They wont be playing there....Well, I think something is in place to help change all that.I believe some local area marching bands will be playing on the field at the Info. This will put HS students on the field and their families and friends in the stands... and it could be planting the seeds of buzz spreading among those age-groups.All of these hs games are at Summa Field: Hoban/SVSM 9/18, Kenmore/North 9/25, Ellet/Firestone 10/2, Firestone/North 10/9, Firestone/Garfield 10/16, East/North 10/23 & Buchtel/Garfield 10/30.You can't go by some blogs. That blog I wouldn't give any legs too anyway.I know for fact Hoban players, coaches and fans are excited about being the first HS game at the Info.
