On alternating 5 yards look. You leave the ten yards the same color from the 45 to 45 yard line and alternate the 5 yards after that. I asked the company why that is done and they said most schools feel the logo on the 50 yard looks better if the 5 yards to either side of the 50 are same color. It makes sense and looks alright to me.

The lights are going in on the press tower. I can't wait for the scoreboard components to start going in.

It looks like lights are being installed on Cam 1.

Are they going to be bricking over those supports or leaving them open? The supports will have a brick facade.Very cool. I was wondering whether that would happen. I think it will look much better than high schoolish all-metal stands.GreatI was okay with leaving the scoreboard poles open and after seeing the close-up pictures. That's okay. But, I really wanted them to brick the eastside stands supports per the designs.

The two small buildings are the entrances to the endzone facility for the stairwells and elevators for the building. The area between the entrances can be used on gameday for fans to view the game SRO.SRO...lol hopefully one day! With no alcohol standing up shouldn't be a problem.I went to couple of Acme Zip games back in the 1970's and we had SRO 36,000 plus at the Rubber Bowl with no alcohol sales. You put a winning product on the field and the place will fill up.I can only imagine attendance in 2004 and 2005 season had Info been around then instead of using an ancient crumbling six miles off campus Rubber Bowl.

Good test is right. But, it's been some very, very heavy rains this week and field seems to be fine so far.

I was raised in construction. My dad built houses and renovated houses as well as working in the city of Akron urban renewal at the time. We built our house my dad and three brothers. My youngest brother is foreman with Ruhlin. I'm skilled enough to take on anything around the house less heating and air. But, I only do work on the side these days. Working outside in Akron winters is what talked me to doing something fulltime.

Last time I was there it was being sold in a designated area. That what I was told by nephew who takes kids he coaches to games and they attend UofA and Cant games as part of recruiting. But, Big Zip is right Cant does sell it in stadium. But, the policy only changed recently. It changed when I went there in about 2003-2004I remember back in late 1990's they were going to sell stadium wide and opted for the tailgate area instead. It wasn't something I asked my nephew about every year. I just remember him telling me a couple of the coaches (him included) like being able to get a cold one right there at the stadium. But, you couldn't take it into the stadium. I made a wrong assumption that was still the case as I remember reading a couple of years ago Bowling Green was mulling the ideal and the article stated they'd be the first to do so stadium wide in the MAC.

I'm sorry. I thought you were refering to the old tailgate area they created back in the late 1990's as I thought sales were still not allowed in the stadium wide from the old policy from a few years ago. Then we now can count Cant State in the list of the few schools who allow it stadium wide and MAC is not alcohol free conference like so many others are like the SEC and Big 10. I stand corrected.

Thanks I've been waiting weeks and weeks to see that get started.

It going to be a Concourse area that will contain rest rooms, concessions, souvenirs and tickets. After years of limited restrooms at the anicent Rubber Bowl. The more restrooms at info the better.Yes, thank you stadium FAQ. The concourse area is the concourse under the stands. I'm talking about inside the actual structure. That's same information the project manager stated when asked by one of our posters here. You can have a concourse area on 1st floor of the press tower that connects to area under the upper deck. From the pictures Zip Watcher took and posted here it looks like the two will connected. But, before we get more heated responses. I've emailed Paul HammondAssociate Athletics Director for Facilities and OperationsThe University of AkronTo clear up the question. I'll post his reply as he's glady answered questions concerning the Info.

Per the project Manager the scoreboards are due in this week. We should see them going up any day now.
-
Please keep in mind no other MAC stadium sells alcohol stadium wide outside of those with skyboxes or club seats. Don't be shocked when that only place UofA will have it available at the Info.

It was around 10:00 tonight and they were moving around with a light working on the stadium. With that said, put me in the camp that says the stadium will be ready to go for Sept. 12th. That's 3 months away, a lot of time to get things done.Per the project manager via one of our posters. They're now working 300 men 3 shifts a day to ensure they finish on-time. In other words there guys and gals there through the night working. The only concern I have left now that glass work is finally going like gangbusters. Is the upper half of the upper deck on the west side. I'll feel a whole lot more confident when I see them start working on that. They were suppose to start it this week.

EDIT**** Looks like they moved the logos around...looks better!I was just going to point that out.

Working three shifts per day is a sure sign they are behind schedule. Second and third shifts are especially costly. That logic is fairly sound, but you gotta remember that a lot of subcontractors are on the hook for a deadline. So, it's up to them to decide how much they are going to work, and whether it's within their budget to work people over. They put in bid for their work and if they go over it's their own problem. Some subcontractors could be behind, and others may not. What is worse, the general can be breathing down some of their necks because, of course, other subs can't even get in to do their work until others have finished certain things.Working three shifts is very common in this type of project when you have a short timeline in this case from Feb 2008 through August 2009. The costs is built into the bid and Welty will have to pay UofA penalities if the stadium part is not done by 08/22 the promised delivery date. Welty also gets a bonus for delivering on 08/22 and that's another reasons he increased the manpower. The entire project is on schedule and the only delay is the installation of the glass which the project manager has said has taken longer then expected. He fully expects everthing to be ready 08/22 less floors two through four of the press tower which are classrooms and that timetable was always longer then the rest of the stadium project. The project is currently under budget due to the economy and that's why they're adding some things like the scrolling scoreboard on the upper deck. Welty workers are non-Union so their OT costs is not near as bad a Union construction company.

You must be sitting in one of those areas.I think it is ridiculous that it would be served in some areas (for those with more $$), but not in others. All or nothing.Id be grateful they're even offering it period. Sure that means forking over bigger $$$ to gain access to it... but let's be real here people... this is a COLLEGE venue... not a Professional Sports venue. Selling alcohol in a public concession stand at a college football game is a major liability to the University. With it being restricted to those who have club seats, it allows the University's concessions staff to more effectively control the consumption of alcohol. Get a beer before the game, enjoy the game, go get another beer. Go to OBC and support local businesses and help make downtown Akron a better place to be.AgreedI have no problem with college venues selling to skyboxes and club seats for the very reasons you cited.Professional Sports venues tend to have far more adults vs a college venure where you can 1000's of underage students many of whom would glady try and purchase beer putting the school at risk. That's why there only handful of college venues that sell alcohol and most of them are either off campus venues or shared pro venues. The SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 all have no sales outside of the club seats and skyboxes. It looks like Minnesota may be a totally dry thanks to moronic comments of their Gov about the elite and not thinking control and liability to University of Minnesota by allowing them to do club seats and skyboxes only like the rest of the Big 10+1.

I told you to wait until the work was further along in being installed and those ABJ long range photos on rainy day was not doing the field any justice. I love what they're install and they still have logo's, numbers, the endzones and eastside sideline to do.

They have to put the windows and facade on prior to putting the stands up. Our concerns are aligned.I know I'll feel far better when the rest of the upper deck on the press tower side starts to go in. I know they say they're on time. But, I don't have a warm and fuzzy seeing that gap and we're three months away from the 1st game and less then three months away from 08/22 the day they're supposed turn a finished stadium less the classrooms on floors 2 through 4 over to UofA.I agree on the glass work. I lived in Chicago for 11 years prior to moving to Georgia. I watched them build 50 story plus buildings in the loop far wider then the Press tower. I saw them install far more glass work in far less time then they been working on the couple of press tower floors. I saw them do four sides of buildings and cover five to ten floors in matter of weeks compared to what it seems like has been months working on three floors of the press tower. I believe they are on-schedule because I don't see a ton of weekend construction activity. It that an accurate gauge? They have been working on the press tower the last couple of Saturdays. That is probably the only segment behind. Also, why did they remove the white wrop from the lower section of the press tower?I've been seeing lots of work being done on Saturdays and at nights these past few weeks.
-
How much of that glass work was functional and could open completely? The glass work they are doing is a bit more complicated than slapping in a window and some caulk. When July 22nd comes and they aren't doing finishing touches to the upper deck, then you can't start wondering if they should be working some overtime or not. Until then "Relax guy" I've seen more complex glass work being done on buildings 40 stories up in the Chicago Loop and they did far more glass work covering more building in far less time then the Press Tower.I'm not sweating until 07/22 with a month to go. But, the glass work IMO seems very slow compared to far bigger and more complex buildings I've seen built in Chicago and here in Metro Atlanta.

Not to stop your early season smack talking. But, I'd like you to keep this mindPenn St 45Temple 3Temple 27Akron 6Penn St returns a lot of weapons on offense and I'd be careful about talking smack looking at that comparison from last season.Don't get all worked up. Every year some UA fans believe we will beat a big time team. We always get smoked, but eventually we will win one of them.I wasn't worked up.There's nothing wrong with believing in your team and Toledo came into Happy Valley and smoked Penn St in 2000.But, when I see those kind of results and see a glaring comparisons of a common opponent from last season.I have to post the factual data to smack talk.I believe the first game of the season and preseason rust. UofA should be able to move the football on Penn St rebuilt defense. But, unless UofA brings a far better defense then they displayed last season. I'm hardly seeing upset in this game.
