The UNGL website specifically states that it will be a January-April league. What a hoot! Here's hoping it has a 1970s ABA vibe. At my house on the west side of Akron, it was -10.8 when I got up this morning. Woohoo!GO ZIPS!STZ

Student Union, the Field House and Natatorium, the dorm buildings if you intend to stay on campus, the downtown area (Main/Market/High/Bowery/University), Aeros Stadium on Main, Northside area (Luigi's is THE Akron Italian/Pizza joint) where a new condo/loft building is. The Lock 3 Park downtown has skating and German food and crafts if you're coming with family. Some good restaurants and bars on Main/Exchange as well. If you're a runner/cyclist check out the Towpath Trail on the Internet, as it's not the most pleasant thing to run on the trail when it's 2 degrees outside! I'm sure I'm missing plenty, but those are a few things/places/areas to think about checking out while you're here. Have a nice trip and stay warm!SeeTeeZip

I only checked in briefly last night, but quickly noted the lopsided score, HORRID field conditions (maybe should have moved the game to Lakeside Field in Evanston!) and overall lack of any appeal for the casual viewer and changed the channel.To Ball State and its fans I say HaHa! After getting home on the late-ish side last night, I flicked through the channels and happened upon the Sad Sack State - Tulsa game and couldn't believe my eyes. SOAKED slick field, somewhat dingy looking affair overall, not a whole ton of fans in the stands, and Nate Jerkoff and Co. losing by a ton. Is it actually a good thing to be in that bowl game at all, from an overall casual-fan standpoint? The whole thing just felt low budget and crappy, IMO. I smiled at the thought of those a-holes from Jumbly State losing big on such a terrible night, and changed the channel. Schadenfreude is a wonderful thing.It's all good baby.GO ZIPS 2009!
