  1. You may have had too much beer - or perhaps your Buckeye hatred has completely overtaken you (sort of like Gollum in Lords of the Rings - Tressel, my precious )- you do know Akron won right?Uh oh, my skin is turning grey and I'm losing my hair. Thanks for the correction MDZip. Post fixed. AKRON WINS!SeeTeeZip
  2. Boy oh boy. If you had told me 15 years ago that there would be any good reason to be anywhere downtown on a fine sunny Saturday afternoon I might have called you a crack whore. Today I met friends at OBC downtown and there were at least 50-60 Zips fans cheering the team, excellent beer and bar food, and THANK GOD (where is BuckChuck?) very few Suckeye fans. The few Suckass fans who were there were less than cheerful, seeing the Zips triumph while their mighty Suckass team struggled badly against... Troy. It was marvelous.Anyway, not only was it great to see AKRON win and the greatly muted OSU presence, it was really cool to see actual patrons at the downtown establishments. This was after I ran on the Akron track earlier this morning and saw the new stadium superstructure right next door. DRINK BEER, DRINK BEER, DRINK BEER GOD D--- DRINK BEERSeeTeeZip
  3. Please define this. What is spectacular fashion? In D-1A football, a road win is good regardless of the score. I actually consider the win at Syracuse to be a blowout at 14 points. With that said, Army lost to UNH a couple of weeks ago. I feel good about our chances.I'm using the term "Spectacular fashion" in a relative way. For Akron, a win by more than two scores is spectacular. So, a 15-point win at minimum. If we struggle to beat a team that bad, even if we do win, it's a very bad sign.So it was 19. Are you happy?Hey MDZip we missed you at OBC this afternoon. I know I was happy with the win, even acknowledging all of the mistakes. 2-2 with 2 road wins, an offense with some serious firepower. I'm liking it!Go Zips!SeeTeeZip
  4. Damn he was an obnoxious mouthy jerk off last week against the Zips. I hope he's OK but was NOT impressed by his jaw jacking with Zips players on every single play.Go Zips!SeeTeeZip
  5. "This is the equivolant of fan waterboarding"--That is the funniest line I've seen in a LONG TIME. Thank goodness the Zippers won. GO ZIPPERS BABY!!!!!!
  6. If you haven't been there before I would recommend trying the sampler first. My favorite brew is the O'Hoppy Ale, but there are two or three others that are fantastic as well. They usually have one or two seasonals on tap too. All good, and the food is pretty damned good as well. GO ZIPS.SeeTeeZip
  7. Nice choice of beers Cap'n. Haven't tried Ommegang before, but wonder how it stacks up with Chimay. Hopefully that will be a part of your game report. Regarding the beer store employee, there aren't 20 people in Akron who aren't die hards who could have rattled off those names. He's either a college football hermit, or you just ran into some sort of Zippian apparition. GO ZIPS!SeeTeeZip
  8. Hopefully I'll see some of you tomorrow at OBC downtown to watch the Zips game! DRINK BEER, DRINK BEER, DRINK BEER GOD DA-- DRINK BEER. I WON'T DRINK BEER WITH ANY MAN WHO WON'T DRINK BEER WITH AN AKRON MAN. AKRON ONCE, AKRON TWICE, HOLY JUMPING JES--CHR---. GOD DA--, SON OF A B----, GOOOOOO ZIIIIIPPPPS! SeeTeeZip
  9. Alex Allen - ouch. I had thought that he HAD NOT broken his hip. So that's really bad news.Bain being out for the rest of the season? 300 pounds of ouch. Did he fracture a bone in his foot, or what? I believe the only info we can get is that he has a "foot injury." What's that mean? And is it college football's policy to keep the public in the dark concerning players' injuries because they're afraid it may effect a players' draft status? Otherwise, why all the secrecy?Oh man, let's hope Bain isn't going to become a Zydrunas Ilgauskas. That's too much MAC domination to lose for this Zips D. Come on Bain, big man, get healthy and go kick some ass.GO ZIPPERSSeeTeeZips
  10. FWIW, I do remember a time when Zips fans were worried that JD's stock either was rising, or would rise, so quickly that he would bolt UA for a higher paying, more prestigious gig before he completed building out the program. I believe that as of right now, he is not perceived to be a coaching star on the rise and that many of us fans are still playing a game of wait and see with him. It would surely be a wonderful thing to see him finish this year strong and open some eyes in the community, and in the MAC, next year at Infocision. Crossing my fingers.GO ZIPS!SeeTee"Drink Beer, Drink Beer....."
  11. I was gonna hang out at home...but maybe I'll go up to OBC... We may have to introduce the bar to the chant. I learned it many years ago as a student and never hear it anymore. SeeTeeZip & Co., BRINGING BACK THE CHANT.SING IT WITH ME!Drink beer, drink beer, drink beer g-- d--- drink beer. I won't drink beer with any man who won't drink beer with an Akron man. Please refer to the following link, ironically from this board LAST year during "Army week".LinkBTW, I'll bye your 1st O'Hoppy Ale on Saturday , but only if you chant at the top of your lungs! Bastard! OK, JohnnyZip84 bringing back the chant, with SeeTeeZip playing along...
  12. FO SHIZZLE! DAMN I can't wait for that first game next year.GO ZIPS!SeeteeZipper

  14. I have no definable, nor defensible, reason to predict the following, but will anyway: The defense will look much better against a very weak Army team, and the offense will go crazy. The crazy flukey tip-drill stuff will go Akron's way this weekend and they'll easily handle an undersized and demoralized Army team. I predict the final score to be:Akron 38Army 14I will be at OBC chanting "Drink beer, drink beer, drink beer g-- d--- drink beer. I won't drink beer with any man who won't drink beer with an Akron man. Akron once, Akron twice, holy jumping JC. G-- D--- son of a b---- gooo Zips"SeeTeeZip
  15. I voted "better", because of the sometimes very exciting offensive play we've seen, along with Jac having made me question whether he was actually the same player from last year. BUT, I'm worried about the defense like everyone else. How good does an offense need to be to overcome an awful defense, week after week? In the context of entire seasons, great offenses can be destroyed by terrible defenses, and I worry about what effect we may see if week after week the offense is (1) playing from behind, (2) playing with poor field position, and (3) playing generally demoralized by weak defensive play.I'm also kind of surprised that there aren't true insiders connected to the program who might be able to offer more insight into whether Bain and other D players are going to make it onto the field. GO ZIPS!SeeTeeZip
  16. Checked the Bills' site but didn't see any action/tackles for Corner. Has anyone on the board followed him more closely? Where is he on their depth charts, and has he seen any regular season action so far? Thanks all. GO ZIPS.SeeTeeZip
  17. I wouldn't count on it. Dude cheerleader is probably content to stay on the sidelines handling the female cheerleaders rather than being on the field gettin' physical with some big sweaty other-dudes.Good point! Dude is probably playing it just right. GO ZIPS.SeeTeeZip
  18. I think that's a given considering the performance of the Zips D the last two weeks.Oh, wait....
  19. No doubt. Maybe JD wants to surprise Army... Like I noted in an earlier post (must have been WAY back, maybe like post 6, can't remember that far back very well) There was a dude cheerleader on the sidelines this week who, I swear to God, looked to be as big as some of our linemen. With the hemorrhaging on the D-line, it's time to suit him up, put that footwork to use.GO ZIPS.SeeTeeZip
  20. What does ESPN say about our "defense"?Ummmmm, not much good to say about them so far this year. I think I'm going to have to drink more beer to provide them moral support. Think that will help?Might I suggest the Akron Dopple Alt at OBC?In a shameless bid to up my postings here so that BuckUpChuck cannot call me nube anymore (isn't he clever?) I'm going to respond with an emphatic YES, although I really gravitate to the O'Hoppy Ale. See all the Zips fans (even those dysfunctional Zips/Suckeyes ones) Saturday!SeeTeeZipShameless? Sure. I'd even throw in pathetic, self-serving, childish etc. But seriously, I'm ready to root these Zippers back to life against Army from OBC this Saturday. Come on Zips. Let's get it together! And in what is sure to be like my 20th post, I'll tell you that I'll go for all of those things, but whatever you do, DON'T call me a Buckeye fan. :P :P SeeTeeZip
  21. The column lists our attendance @ 16,000 for the past two seasons. If we have a brand-spanking new $60 million dollar stadium...have our home opener vs. Indiana, + home vs. K.e.n.t, both of which will be GUARANTEED 30,000 SRO...there's no way on God's green earth we should average 20,000!! Only 4k more than at the Rubber Bowl!!?? That's lower than the most low-aiming expectation I could have expected to see in my worst nightmare.I expect 25k. Anything less is unacceptable.Regardless of first and second year attendance being driven by the newness of the facility, shouldn't Info always outdraw the Rubber Bowl? Even in down football years, given that the new digs will be on campus, where more students live every year, and near downtown, which should always bring in bodies, I'll be surprised if the crowds aren't larger and quite different. More students, many more people from the North and West sides, the ability to grab a nice meal before and/or after, entertainment venues, likely a lot less MUD on bad weather days. I'm not sure that many hard core fans of the Zips realize just how lowbrow most locals think the Rubber Bowl is. I know many around here who will definitely go downtown to watch the Zips play, given all of the tangibles and intangibles involved, who wouldn't be caught dead going to the Rubber Bowl to see a game. I also wonder what that 20K will look like. I've been at games where the announced attendance was ridiculously overstated. They may have sold that many tickets, but there sure as hell weren't that many bodies in the seats. The crowds at the Info should be large and actual. GO ZIPS!SeeTeeZip
  22. this board is also full of people who have so bought into the bs they've been fed the last 5 years that they're completely blind to reality. Luckily that disease is curable.... I was cured in about the middle of '07, hopefully some of you find the cure soon.I'm all for people having their opinions... I'm sick of the constant campaigning. I'm ready to leave this place. Why can't we just be fans? This is a message board. We discuss, argue, whine and talk about the team. This isn't a place to come and just blow smoke or be blind to reality.I don't understand what the problem is.Me neither! SeeTeeZip

  25. AmenI hate seeing other Zips fans bash each other. BuckZip, and Sgm are great Zips fans and I'm proud to have them. Although they should get heat for defending OSU in ZippyLand, they should be treated with respect. The name calling going back and forth here is a little immature. So Bobby if you were a Grad of 2 schools and one schools board was bashing your other school for no reason, you would not defend it? Remember, I didn't come here and start this. Some nube jackass had to do it.That nube jackass would be me BuckChuck, and I in no way addressed you in my original posts. You can call me a nube of course, if you consider a middle-age guy who graduated from UA in the 80s a nube. I reveled in Suckeye agony last night, and it would only have been better if the Zips had executed earlier in the afternoon. If you're really so thin skinned that you cannot bear to have your Columbus team ragged on ON A ZIPS BOARD, that says everything about you, and nothing about the rest of us.By the way, you were the one who took the discussion into the gutter by (1) telling me to "STFU", and (2) calling another poster a POS and polishing the whole affair off with lashing out at the "idiots" who disagreed with you. <<--me laughing at you, again.GO ZIPSSeeTeeZipI keep laughing at you because you are a complete tool.A nube is a person new to the board. Hence your 16 posts. Obviously you are a new UA fan. LOL at your stupidity. You clearly represent the finest that Columbus Agricultural Tech has to offer, young man. Good luck with the rest of that season, and GO ZIPS!SeeTeeZip
