  1. And now look at our postseason (and regular season) history before KD. Let me know what you find. Be careful what you wish for people…….

Not picking on you a-zip, but I read this over and over at ZN, I can't figure out what one has to do with the other? Fans should not want more success now because Coleman Crawford was a bad coach then? Ridiculous. I want to win an NCAA tournament game, like OU, Ken+, Miami, EMU...how hard is that? Nobody is suggesting firing KD, but he NEEDS to change something up. We say "think bigger", but we continue to think and do the same. I fear the same thread at the end of next year.

  2. As promised here are some notes from assistant coach Charles Thomas from last night post game (KD took a pass on the interview with Steve).

Per CT: Zips didn't play D, but neither did the Dons (love that nickname). It was tough to get up for this game. Old School had his most comfortable game, he had four assists. (as I mentioned earlier, he has to lead the team in picks per minutes, now if we can just get the roll, and the pass going). This is a young team, BJ and Jackson HAVE to be ready to provide quality minutes next season. Here is the part I'm sure we'll hear from the 'Practice Preachers' at the beginning of next season. If BJ shows any signs of what he did in the last month of practice, we should be excited. CT he can play the 1,2, and 3, but sees him at the 3 spot. CT says he guards Tree in practice. He is special when he has the ball. He will be special, not just in the MAC, but in the nation.

So there you have it, the silver lining...again.

Last note on the game. I couldn't help thinking at halftime last night, I'm sure we are going to come out and play some different types of defenses to throw them off their offensive game, some zone maybe, for sure we are going to press them. Nope. Same ol same ol. Doing the same thing and expecting different results....

Once again, great feed. The MAC should hire whomever is in charge of that site. Edit, now that I look, I guess it's CBS. They do a great job with the NCAA tournament.

  3. Per Zips Line email:

Tickets for Saturday's game can be ordered through our ticket office by calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) through 10 a.m. today. Tickets for Saturday's game cost $18. If we win, those who purchase for Saturday will be automatically charged $14 per ticket for Monday's game, as the NCAA automatically charges us for our ticket allotment.

For those of you who purchased tickets through us and will be traveling to West Lafayette on your own, representatives from our ticket office will be in the lobby of the team hotel, the Four Points by Sheraton (1600 Cumberland Ave, 47906), Friday night and Saturday morning. UA ticket reps will also staff our team will call window at Mackey Arena starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Please bring photo identification to claim your tickets.

We look forward to seeing many of you in West Lafayette this weekend as our Women make history! If you can't make the trip, remember that
Johnny J’s in the Valley is hosting a Zips Watch Party.

  4. Who's ready for the greatest sporting event in the world?

Here is a look at all 68 teams in the field.

    MID-MAJOR DANGER

We weren't joking about the number of viable mid-major upset threats in the bracket. They're everywhere. Let's scout them:

Western Michigan (59): The Broncos turn the ball over all the time, but it's worth fearing any team that handled MAC favorite and onetime at-large hopeful Toledo so effortlessly.

Here's a look at one time Zip coach Shaka Smart's VCU Rams. They are my adopted team in the tourney along with any other Mac team.

Shaka Smart’s program has shown poise in navigating through the rigorous A-10 schedule, which the Rams successfully did with only four defeats and a second-place finish in the competitive league.

  5. I would have voted for; non-scholarship, pays his own way, is in shape, is truly sorry, turns his life around, wins an ncaa tournament game, graduates, gets a great job after graduation, has a nice family, makes a difference in his community...and doesn't get many minutes because we have better options at PG. I didn't see that option, so I selected the second one.

    Go Zips.

  6. They haven't been able to turn NCAA Tournament experience into NCAA tournament success. Why should we believe these Micky Mouse tournaments would be anything else? I'm totally down with playing in these tournaments as a way to let the kids have a few more games, but I don't see any other benefit.

    Testify!

  7. It was something like "Junior. It says senior on the sheet, but he will be back next year."

I would hope that during his time between his junior year and his senior year, he takes free throw shooting to another level.

He can, and should WANT, to get to the line often. That would be a great weapon to have each and every game.
