No odds yet. Below is a quick review of tonights game as Mark sees it.
Hopes were high for Akron entering the 2013-14 season where many expected the team to challenge for the MAC title. The Zips were likely a victim of their past success and they weren't quite as dominant as we have been accustomed to seeing which meant several closer then expected contests. However, a 20 win season with a 12-6 conference record which secured 4th isn't all gloom and doom. This team excels at the defensive end and seldom gave up more then 65 points which is key in the playoffs to give guys like Demetrius Treadwell (14.7 ppg) and Quincy Diggs (12 ppg) combined with an adequate supporting cast a great chance at winning. If you know anything about Ohio basketball it's to never count them out. This season hasn't been typical with some poor performances combining with some inconsistent play but at the end of the day here they are in the second round of the postseason following a 63-55 victory over Miami (Ohio). It wasn't the best of performances but Ohio's 39% shooting meant a few more threes and foul shots which was eough to overcome the Redhawks 33% accuracy. Leading scorer Nick Kellogg pumped in a game high 20 points with seven yanks followed Javarez Willis and Maurice Ndour netting 13 and 12 points with Ndour posting eight boards.

A perk for @uakron students & @TheAKROWDIES- we'll be handing out $10 gas cards to the 1st 60 students who come to the Clevelander tomorrow!

I would go with three Z's, each one a little bigger...
...oh wait Ianello is gone, never mind. In that case, we should add the b word to the end of Fear the Roo. Get Aaron Paul to record the audio. See how many students show up then. Know your demographics!

I would like to see an addition to the staff, and a PG this offseason.

Who cares what uniforms they wear, how about start winning more games.

Like the fact that Tree has never blindsided an opponent and caused injury to that player; ala Jake Kretzer. Character counts.
If character counts, the voters must have liked Javon's. I'm thinking it has to do with his good play.

You can build a nice house on a weak foundation, but the house is likely to develop lots of problems if the foundation fails to properly support it. The offensive line is the foundation of the offense.
Cleveland has had a better offensive line than Pittsburgh for a decade.

"Last year's tournament had a $14.5 million economic impact on Cleveland and Northeast Ohio," said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher. "So it should give some indication of the number of people that come in are spending their money not only going to the games, going to the restaurants going to shops."

You can join in on the discussion about that here (page 8 halfway down).

The "experts" at ESPN's bracketology have EMU winning the MAC. http://espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology
Maybe Joe thinks it's 1996 again. Sending the MAC good vibes.

I highly recommend Akron's newest downtown restaurant, Nuevo Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar.
Must be getting near lunch, that site (well done) is making me hungry. I'll try this place out soon. This thread is more fun than the beer thread.
tequila aged in old port wine casks. It cost $12.00 a shot, but was as smooth as a fine cognac.
I had a Glenmorangie "The Quinta Ruban" recently. Same concept. Marketing ploy, but I enjoyed it.

Meat and Potatoes is an awesome place for anyone looking for something in Pittsburgh. Pretty small, so reservations are needed. Very good food, and a cool atmosphere.
Thanks. I have been to plenty of places in the Burg, haven't been here. I'll try next time I'm in town. Gets good reviews.

Fahrenheit is a really good restaurant in Cleveland.
Dr Z approved. One of my wife's favorite local eating spots.
GP1, here is a good one for you, the guys that owned the Sun, now have a rooftop bar on Brown street.

FYI The new software doesn't seem to effect using "ken+" in links (see above links in first post of this thread).
The old software subbed "can't" in the http address, so you would get an error.
Although I'm guilty of it too, it always amazes me how many people in the crowd are looking at their cell phones during sporting events. I wonder in ten years if this will seem more ridiculous, or less? To ZN credit, the members I recognize in my photos typically are not looking at their phones.

Here are a few images from Friday's nights game. Enjoy.
Ten more images from Phil Masturzo can be found here. I love the fourth photo!

No Zips player in last night's game had more rebounds per minute played than Pat. He snagged 5 boards in only 12 minutes of play, including 4 during the critical final 10 minutes of the game.
There were three of those that nobody that was within 4 foot of him. Amazing. Two of those he reached over that Div II player, Henniger. Right place, right time.
Big Dog is gonna be really good. It's a shame people hyped him up so much pre-season, the expectations didn't do him any favors.
Agreed.

After watching the game at home later, Q definitely deserved the T.
Thanks for saving me time, that was the one thing I wanted to go back and check. The result only cost us one point, so it really didn't hurt us as much as the multiple breakdowns in defense under the hoop that resulted in easy dunks for Ken+. I liked Ken+'s defensive strategy against Akron, it is exactly how I would defend the Zips in the past decade.
GP1 is right, the fans were great last night. My photography is showing the same about that one guy you mention.

Whatever time the Zips spend practicing free throws is a colossal waste of time. No way they could be worse by not practicing. No way. Use that time practicing scoring in paint with contact. Good thing Ken+ is turible.
Our first pick tonight was set with twelve minutes left in the SECOND half...by a freshman!?!
Props to Tree for stepping it up and getting physical when the team needed him most.

Of the three, I like Blake. I have only watched a few games of his, and listened to one on the radio, so I'm no expert. I've watched enough of Manziel to realize, I don't want him anywhere near the offense that I design from week to week. I've watched a few games of Teddy's, and I'm not sold. I'm shocked the Steelers sent scouts to watch one of his games this year. If I'm the Browns, I don't draft a QB at number four. I wait for my (QB) guy to fall, and then put some picks together and come back and get him if he is there. Hopefully at 15, but probably 7.

What is the key to winning tonight?
Score 67 points, win. Ken+ sux.

Hixon headed to the windy city.
The Bears have signed free agent wide receiver Domenik Hixon to a one-year deal, the team announced.
