  1. That's the part that scares me, they did not last time out. Too sloppy. I was hoping someone who's opinion means something to me would have posted about how hard practice was yesterday, and how focused KD has got them. Should be a cake walk, but I need a blowout.
  2. Excellent interview. I wish JT would have been more open about the past. I hate the bs answer "I can’t say that I spent a whole bunch of time thinking about that because I can’t do anything about it." Marla is becoming my favorite Beacon writer in decades.
  3. Very nice post. A comment on the bold text part. Support and respect are two separate things for me. JT has my support because he is going to help my Alma mater. He has to EARN my respect. We will see what he does during his time here. I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope he leaves here successfully without scandal, unlike he did at Youngstown & Columbus. Good luck to him, and go Zips!
  4. Zips are favored by 15!?! They have covered three in a row. I'm not looking back at stats, but I'm willing to bet this is the first time in KD's career at Akron this has happened. I'm staying away from this game, KD's comments about EMU Monday night scared me and I have not seen EMU play yet. If like Buf -5 against Toledo today. Go Zips!
  5. Because that would not be accurate.
  6. I read this quote today in the Beacon Journal, and it got me wondering what ZN thinks. Feel free to comment below. “The commitment I’ve made to any place I’ve gone is I was going to work every day like I was going to be there forever,” he said. “So my commitment to the University of Akron, I’m going to work like this is the last place I’ll ever work." The quote is at the bottom of this article
  7. Source In his new position, Tressel, who said he has no interest in coaching in the NFL, will work with Akron's students, alumni and community organizations on a variety of issues. Although he's not officially on the clock, Tressel met with student leaders before the news conference, telling them he was committed to using his Northeast Ohio connections to build relationships between the school and community. Must have been a different guy interviewing for the Colts job twice???
  8. Wow, an opinionated article/blurb by EA? I'm impressed. Are the people on ZN that are happy with the current state of the team going to question EA pointing out the fact the Zips are not mature? I'll check the comment section tomorrow to see.
  9. I voted three since the company I work for is directly involved with the technology advertised.
  10. Sounds like a new post "contest." There are a few creative people that post here. FYI, Temple used the "Attack" rally cry before.
  11. Bob Smizik's thoughts... My thoughts: if he can pry money from his sheep to get us a shiny new basketball arena on campus, great. Is this a quick stop before he moves on to the next thing?
  12. That's a good job for him. Dr P did a nice job of fitting a guys strengths with a need of the university. Glorified car salesman. Nobody has more sheep in this area than JT.
  13. Watch it here. Tressel’s new title is "vice president for strategic engagement." $200,000 to make headlines? One of the better marketing ideas.
  14. I thought this deserved it's own post. Comment below.
  15. I agree...but the potential of this team has not been reached. This is the most talented Zips team I have watched, and they are not playing their best ball yet. I want to see them start to show that so they are able to peak at the right time. I want to win a NCAA tournament game, and they are not there as a team yet. I think if you ask KD, he will agree with me. Actually, I'm almost repeating what KD has said recently.
  16. KD made the comment after the game last night, "I told Zeke I haven't seen that many shots go over him since his freshman year." I saw Zeke jawing last night. I can't decide if that is good or bad for him. McClanahan made an interesting comment after the game. He said something to the fact that the team is not playing with a chip on their shoulder yet (not mad at anyone). Those weren't his words, but I can't remember how he phrased it. Rian is worth the price of admission for Toledo fans. He is smooooooth. I like how he attacks the rim. PS I thought Zeke played well in the zone defense last night. Good job of KD switching when he did. Treadwell needs to work on his zone D.
  17. Missed both three pointers last night and had SIX turnovers. Like I said before, I wish he would refocus his game around the rim. This is where he will help the Zips win big games. I think the Zips are in for a tough practice before Saturday's game.
  18. JT to make $200,000
  19. 10 am announcement I would like to hear Coach Bowden's comments on the situation.
  20. But he needs them for employment?
  21. At one point Harney slapped Treadwell's hand at mid court, and it sounded like they were next to me.
  22. I'm with KD, unacceptable lack of effort tonight. Excellent post game interview tonight by KD. I agreed with everything he said.
  23. Anybody think he is using Akron to get his name in the press...again?
