  1. I could think of one guy and his mom that would be really excited.
  2. Great news. While we are on the radio subject. I complained about this last year and nothing has changed this year.Could somebody in Akron marketing figure out how to get some of our games on Sirius/XM?Other MAC schools have figured it out.I know this is asking a lot since we can't even get a billboard on route 8, but K*ENT can.
  3. This is from Rivals last year, but gives some insight on his ability:Evridge started at Kansas State and then transferred after Ron Prince succeeded Bill Snyder as coach. He sat out the 2006 season per NCAA transfer rules and still has two years of eligibility remaining. He proved himself in 2005 when he started six games for the Wildcats. Evridge set a couple of school freshman records, including six touchdown passes in a game. He also threw for 1,365 yards on the season and rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns against Nebraska. He passed for 357 yards against Texas A&M, which remains the ninth-best single-game passing total in Kansas State history.
  4. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.Albert Einstein
  5. Cable feed will be behind, so if your listening on the radio you'll know what happen before you see it.
  6. Elton Alexander goes out on a limb1. There will be four bowl-eligible teams to come from a mix of these seven schools: Central Michigan, Ball State, Miami, Temple, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Can't State. In a college football world where .500 is bowl-eligible, all seven of those teams could make that mark. Temple should have no nonconference trouble, with Army on the road and a rematch in Philly against Connecticut, which stole a win in their game last season. Go .500 in the MAC and the make-or-break game likely will be at Navy on Nov. 1.2. Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour will earn some mention in the national Heisman Trophy discussion. LeFevour will get an early shot at national attention with a Sept. 6 game at Georgia. CMU also plays Sept. 20 at Purdue, a team against which he already has played twice in his career and posted 656 yards passing and six touchdowns. Despite the string of outstanding MAC quarterbacks, none ever has finished higher than fifth in the Heisman voting.3. There will be no shortage of offensive fireworks from MAC teams this season. Every team returns a quarterback with some starting experience. Five MAC teams averaged more than 30 points per game last season.4. Don't be surprised to see a MAC team -- Central Michigan or Ball State -- creep into the Top 25. The upset is on the tee for Western Michigan at Nebraska on Saturday. The Broncos have been on the edge of several major upsets in recent seasons. WMU's offense under seasoned junior quarterback Tim Hiller should be able to hold its own against the Cornhuskers. The other early upset to watch for is Miami at home against rebuilding Vanderbilt on Thursday. Miami should have one of the top three defenses in the MAC. And CMU at No. 1 Georgia on Sept. 6 certainly has some intrigue.5. For the first time in MAC history, both Akron and Can't State will have winning seasons. Akron gets a break in the schedule by not playing Miami this season. Can't hosts Akron this season for the Wagon Wheel on Oct. 4.
  7. Nice article. I like "Jack's" confidence. I hope it translates on the field.
  8. Okay I did a quick excel chart to represent our defensive numbers last year. The red line represents our averages. 29 points given up per game. & 409 yards per game. The first half of the season we were under our average 3 times and over our average 3 times in points against. The second half of the season we were under our average 3 times and over our average 3 times in points against. The first half of the season we were under our average 3 times and over our average 3 times in points against. The second half of the season we were under our average 4 times and over our average ONLY 2 times in yards against. While I hate the 3-3-5. I'm not sure I see a whole lot of truth to that statement. Just cause you print something in the PD doesn't make it true.I know this is only one year and he used the word "history", but I took the most recent history due to time.
  9. I wish Ellen would have backed this statement up with some stats."Defensively, the 3-3-5 defense, is good for making big plays. But historically, as the season wears on, this unit wears down."
  10. Try asking here someone could probably tell you.
  11. IMO Coaching staff should have enough information to know which direction to head on September 7th.
  12. There is a link in my/your post "Big Ten Network", it has the entire weekend schedule, did you check that?If you do, I think you'll be happy.
  13. More songs that were heard at the concert:"This Spread Offense Looks Better After Every Beer""The Only Thing Missing on a Portage County Wagon is the Wheel""I Miss the Old Coach, but My Aim is Getting Better""The Single Coverage in the Secondary is Making me Drink Doubles""My Wife Ran Off with Luke Getsy, I Sure Do Miss Him"

  15. Thank you! That's great news.Side note: I was going to set the DVR to record the rebroadcast early Sunday morning. I searched keyword "Zips" and found the rebroadcast. I go to my guide and can't find it, I'm getting pretty po'ed when I realize that when I set up my custom guide I took out all the crap channels that I don't watch. I forgot I took out the BTN. So I'm sure the BTN will be thrilled to hear that I added them back to my guide. Go Fighting Illini !
  16. I used to be a PSU fan before I went to Akron, JoPa would say the same thing ever year at this time..."we stink, we won't win a game this year, I can't believe I wasted my time recruiting these bums" That was his motivation.I am hoping JD is doing the same after reading these comments:''Without looking at the tape, there wasn't much to like,'' Brookhart said. ''I am really disappointed right now. Our injury situation is killing us. I have no idea where we are at right now because of that.''''It was sloppy; it was inconsistent,'' Brookhart said. ''We have guys in positions they have not played because of injuries. We are kind of piecing it together.''PS Decent work Tom Gaffney.
  17. Competition is heating up, word is that Fuji may add his services. He is not sold on Akron, but thinks that CJ will step up.
  18. Possible new BJ staffer gives his opinion on the Zips upcoming football season.
  19. For those of you that aren't able to access the link for whatever reason, here are images from today.
  20. Pretty cool. From the site above.
  21. SI adds two more MAC teams to the BCS crashers list#2 The Falcons should light up scoreboards with quarterback Tyler Sheehan, multi-dimensional running back Anthony Turner (17) and wide receiver Freddie Barnes -- that is if a line that is replacing three fifth-year seniors can find its footing. The offense may have to score in bunches if BG doesn't improve on a defense that ranked 94th in total defense a year ago.#4 The Chippewas have their sights on a third straight MAC title behind dual threat quarterback Dan LeFevour, who had 46 combined touchdowns on the ground and in the air in '07. Defense, though, is this team's biggest obstacle, having ranked 109th in total defense last season.
  22. The nearby Akron Beacon Journal is offering buyouts to all newsroom employees and early retirement packages to newsroom employees 55 and older. Other details of the offers were not released. The Akron newspaper laid off 40 newsroom employees -- 25 percent of that staff -- and cut jobs in all of its divisions in 2006, citing a decline in revenue.Source
  23. Quarterbacks pass muster at scrimmageCan we find a "scheme" to fit our QBEverything hinges on the QBOffensive coaching as important as QB this yearSame QB concerns in 2005 seem to work outCould Matt help us out at some point and time this season? Stay tuned Zip fans...
  24. Your right 87, already done (right here)As a matter of fact, the probably already knows about this link and will use it. Asking was just a formality.Big Zip, you hit the nail on the head. That would be a story worth reading.zipseuph. spend multiple years writing and pleading with the to cover your favorite local team to no avail like many on this board have done. Then come back here and tell us how "pathetic" we are.PS This is not directed toward anyone in particular, just a note for those who don't know about this tool. In the upper right hand corner of the page there is a "search" button. You can find just about anything with it. It is better than most I have used in other forums.
  25. If somebody knows where I can find these "alternate" big ten games at on Direct TV, please let me know.I have never watched the station before other than flicking by it.I also checked Dish Network (which I don't have), they do have alternate BigTen channels, guess who they are showing!?!?
