Chances are slim and none, and....

I agree with most of what you say. However, a billboard's biggest asset is not direct ticket sales, it is brand awareness. The act of creating public awareness of our specific brand in order to maximize its recognition. If potential ticket buyers do not know about a team, they will not purchase a ticket. The goal of any team should be to build brand awareness, albeit in as cost-effective manner. The benefits of an inexpensive billboard totally outweigh the cost.Even the Portage County Pansies get it.

Okay.I bet if the public knew when, and what time the games where, they might go too.If there was only a way to get a big poster and hang it over a major highway in Akron...now that would be cool. :rolleyes:PS I still remember the Jason Taylor one on Exchange Street a long time ago. I wish I took a photo of that.PSS I will be taking a photo of the new Portage County Pansy one on 43 soon for a new contest, stay tuned...

Sorry, I did learn something. From Razor's site:By the end of the first week of camp, Akron’s quarterback situation should be a bit clearer. The team will narrow the three-candidate race to two by then, J.D. Brookhart said during yesterday’s MAC Media Day.

Did anybody learn ANYTHING at media day???This was a waste of gas money.I wish they sent Razor.

This article is nothing new (about DH), but it does make me a bigger Jabari fan.Harvey not with ZipsAn interesting note on Akron is that last year's freshman sensation, wide receiver and kick return specialist David Harvey, is no longer on the team because of academic issues.A year ago, Harvey was recognized by The Sporting News, Scripps/Football Writers Association of America, and Rivals.com as a Freshman All-American for his kick returns; he received honorable mention as a wide receiver.Harvey caught 43 passes for 914 yards, which was third best in the country among freshmen. He also set a school record for Zips freshmen with 10 touchdown catches.Additionally, Harvey returned 17 kicks for 510 yards, an average of 30 yards per return, ranking second in the nation.``It's disappointing not having David, but we all have requirements to take care of,'' Brookhart said. ``Unfortunately, that's the way it is, and we're moving on.''The Zips aren't hurting for a featured receiver who can make big plays and be consistent. Senior Jabari Arthur (6-4, 255) led the team last year with 45 receptions and was second with 730 receiving yards. However, his breakout year was in 2005 as a sophomore, specifically in the Motor City Bowl against Memphis. He caught a career-high-tying eight passes -- two for touchdowns -- while setting a bowl record with 180 receiving yards.Arthur missed spring practices because of a foot injury, but he said he's at 100 percent and ready to be a team leader again.``Regardless of the year or personnel, I go into every game thinking I have to step up and make plays,'' Arthur said. And Arthur, who is from Montreal, has a future at the next level. He was the sixth pick in the 2007 Canadian Football League draft, by the Calgary Stampeders.``There was some speculation that I would be drafted by a CFL team, and truth be told, I was very honored when Calgary chose me,'' Arthur said. ``But I'm happy to be coming back playing my senior season. I'm hoping this will be a special year, and I want to go out the right way. Plus, I promised my parents I would graduate, and I'll get my degree in exercise physiology in December.''

What are the top programs of the last decade? That's the question ESPN.com has attempted to answer this week. Fifteen college football experts and analysts ranked all 119 Division I-A programs, taking into account record, traditions, recruiting, facilities, coaches, attendance and support, among other criteria.Editor's note: Each day, one writer will attempt to explain why these teams were ranked in this order. The rankings reflect the average from the 15 ballots cast and are not the writer's individual ballot. Pat Forde breaks down Nos. 119-101 below. Where will Akron fall?101 Baylor 102 San Jose State 103 SMU 104 UNLV 105 Florida Atlantic 106 Idaho107 Arkansas State 108 Ball State 37-76109 Can't State110 New Mexico State111 Army 112 Louisiana-Lafayette 113 Louisiana-Monroe 114 Utah State 115 Duke116 Eastern Michigan 117 Florida International118 Temple 119 Buffalo

Here is a better image of Scott stadium from 2002 when the Zips were there.
-
Isn't it BOTH?It looks to me that below ground level, there are seats on both sides & the grass in the endzones .. and then the grandstands rise above ground level .. slightly on the east, and more on the west w/ the press box.Seems to me the lower section is a bowl .. seats not all the way around .. but this isn't the Doyt or anything like this.. when you enter the stadium, the field appears to be below grade, right?Hopefully the lawn seating creates the bowl like Scott stadium in Charlottesville.I sat there for the Zips game, I thought it was pretty neat.

You'll find that many teams that "win", have things "fall in place" for them in a season.Take a look at our MAC championship year.

Word is, that the Browns have inquired about the availability of there use.

Prisco likes Frye to startCharlie Frye vs. Derek Anderson vs. Brady QuinnFrye went into last season trying to convince the team that he was their long-term answer at quarterback. He obviously didn't do that since they drafted Quinn in the first round. Frye is a quarterback who will never wow you with his physical skills, but he can make plays with his head and his improvisational skills. Anderson came on late last year when Frye was hurt and showed a big-time arm. But he's really raw. Quinn has the tools to be the franchise passer, but he didn't look so good in the team's offseason work after being drafted. Anderson was said to be the best of all the three.Edge: Frye, based mainly on the experience.Opening-day starter: Frye. Quinn isn't ready and this staff needs to try to win
