  1. the silver lining in your story is "Alex Allen broke away for another long touchdown run. Brookhart expects he will get between 15 and 18 carries."I'm really looking forward to see Alex carry the rock.Good luck Sean. Met him once and he seemed very nice.
  2. Monday night ESPNI'll be watching to see if Hixon gets in. Second right now in poll "Who will lead the Broncos in receiving yards in the preseason?"Photo is from Monday's practice:
  3. I wish we had an Akron grad writing for the Akron paper.Unfortunately we have a CSU grad and a YSU grad.Is it any wonder why we get what we get.
  4. The best thing that could happen to Charlie is the Browns cut him today.Good points
  5. I have experienced the opposite with Zip players. Many Zip players are very open and excited to tell you about the team.
  6. 8. Do you read message boards or blogs where fans discuss your team?Yes: 39.5%No: 60.5%Notes: For the purposes of this survey, if a player answered "sometimes," it was counted as a "yes" response... Twenty-four players answered "yes" outright, while 23 answered "sometimes." ... Approximately 68 percent of BCS players responded "no," compared to approximately 51 percent of non-BCS players.Quotable: "I read it if I want to have a good laugh," said one Big 12 player. "Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they're showing their opinions, but at the end of the day, they don't know what's going on." ... Most players who responded "no" said the people who write on message boards or blogs do not know what they're talking about. Said one MAC player: "My grandma could guess the same thing."Source to entertaining article
  7. sourceIn Quinn's absence, Frye, Anderson compete for starting jobBy Len PasquarelliESPN.comUpdated: August 7, 2007, 8:50 AM ETWhile first-round draft choice Brady Quinn continues his training camp holdout, Cleveland Browns' quarterback Charlie Frye is simply trying to hold on to the starting job that he owned for much of the past 1½ seasons. And at least nominally, at this point, he's succeeding. To comply with NFL rules, Browns head coach Romeo Crennel issued the team's first depth chart on Monday, and Frye, a third-year veteran, occupied the top rung. Crennel cautioned strongly, however, that the depth chart is barely worth the paper on which it was printed, and would not even commit to Frye as his starter in Saturday night's preseason opener.Crennel even joked that he might toss a coin before the game to determine whether Frye or challenger Derek Anderson, also a third-year pro, would get the starting nod. Apparently, the competition for the starting job in the regular season remains that close.Uncertainty at quarterback is nothing new for the Browns, who have employed five different opening-day starters in the last five years. And through three dozen practices in the spring and now in the first 10 days of training camp, neither Frye nor Anderson has separated himself enough yet to have been vested with the No. 1 job.PD article on same topic
  8. Al-Teric Balaam, the talented sophomore linebacker, will not be eligible to play this season Alex Allen is 100 percent. Those are my words, not the team doctor’s. After seeing him bust a 60-yard run off left tackle today, you’d probably agree
  9. Best line:Andy Alleman would be in the NFL and Zwick watching him play I can still remember the four dopey OSU fans behind me at the UA/OSU game telling me "just wait until Zwick gets here"
  10. Take a deep breath there Zippy. It's going to be a long season.Check your local paper
  11. Not everyone agrees with you. There is no wrong or right in this situation, it is preference. I'm not a big fan of that stadium either. While you prefer cement, maybe someone else may find the brick and glass look more appealing.Just because you spend a lot of money on something doesn't make design better.
  12. Poor Charlie Ryan Tucker Suspended For SteroidsRight tackle will miss first four games.Friday, August 3, 2007(Berea) - Stunning news Friday for the Cleveland Browns.Right tackle Ryan Tucker has been suspended for the first four games of the season by the NFL for steroid use.

  18. What BCS schools play the 3-3-5, how long have they played it, and where do they rank?
  19. Amen brother.
  20. I don't think anybody thinks this is the ONLY way we should make people aware of the team (date & time of the games would be nice.) You actually have to have an interesting brand to advertise to make it successful. I believe the difference between then, and now is the fact that we do have a good brand now (better team, logo, slogan & awareness.)THIS is the time to make the locals aware (or remind them). I'm sure I can afford to put a billboard for three months.I'm sure the University can.

  23. I agree with most of what you say. However, a billboard's biggest asset is not direct ticket sales, it is brand awareness. The act of creating public awareness of our specific brand in order to maximize its recognition. If potential ticket buyers do not know about a team, they will not purchase a ticket. The goal of any team should be to build brand awareness, albeit in as cost-effective manner. The benefits of an inexpensive billboard totally outweigh the cost.Even the Portage County Pansies get it.
