  1. I agree, He hasn't done that much really.Without mentioning LO & PW (we been down that road about a jillion times),who do you think would being doing a better job at Akron than JD? Just curious. Before you answer, ask yourself if this person would coach at AKRON under the same conditions. Then tell me how much you are going to pay this coach (is it in Akron's budget). Then tell me if you think the program was better off before JD or after JD (for the love of god don't mention LO)What do you think JD's goals were when he came to Akron in the years that he has been here?Do you think he has met his goals? Fell short? Exceeded? If you are not happy with JD, I would be interestedin reading what exactly you expected from him and where he is falling short. I was thinking the same thing when I was reading some posts in this thread, but I think you put it in perspective very well. I'd like to hear some well-thought out responses to your questions.Might be asking too much. Seems like the majority that have a problem with JD are just local LO fans.
  2. Seems like a good benchmark. Did Urban win the MAC when he was at BG?In 2001 Urban was 5-3 in the MAC tied for 2nd. In 2002 he was 6-2 in the MAC finished 3rd.JD's first two years at Akron in comparisonIn 2004 he was 6-2 in the MAC and finished 2ndIn 2005 he was 5-3 in the MAC and won a MAC Championship and went to a bowl game.

  4. I listed records for the HISTORY OF THE NFL, not yearly stats.
  5. Pete Prisco ranks Charlie's team in the first power ranking of the year May 8th (doesn't seem to early )
  6. Ben Records (in 3 nfl seasons) * Most regular season wins by an NFL rookie quarterback (2004) - 14 games * Highest quarterback rating by an NFL rookie quarterback (2004) - 98.1 * Highest completion percentage by an NFL rookie quarterback (2004) - 66.4% * Longest regular season win streak to start a career for an NFL quarterback (2004-05) - 15 games * First quarterback to start two Conference Championship games in first two seasons in the NFL (2004 & 2005) * 32-11 won/loss record (including 5-1 in the playoffs) as a starting quarterback in the NFL (as of 12/07/06) * Second youngest quarterback to play in the Super Bowl (2005), behind Dan Marino * Youngest quarterback ever to win the Super Bowl (2005) [see above] * Achieved the 32nd perfect passer rating in NFL history in a game against the Titans on September 11, 2005.Trent Records (in 12 nfl seasons) * got drafted
  7. After the interview was over, Pat mentioned that he has interviewed Braylon for three years and he has seen how he has grown up this year and he predicts big things for him this year. Sirius NFL goes to every camp during pre season. They interview 5 or 6 players when they are at their camp. They will interview Frye for sure. If Pat is there, he will ask Charlie about Braylon's comment. Pat has an incredible memory. I'll post the schedule here when it is out.
  8. "What's the deal with air shows anyways?"
  9. That comment rubbed me the wrong way too. I think back to balls that "popped" out of Edwards hands last year and wonder what he was insinuating about Frye. All and all, he was very complimentary towards Charlie, just not Akron.
  10. Braylon was just interviewed on Sirius NFL by Pat Kerwin.(I'll stick to the Frye questions)PK: We talked to you before the draft and you stated that Frye was the guy, is that still the case?BE: Charlie is our guy and now he has someone to push him. He has to beat him out.PK: Size up Frye's year for us.BE: He still has a lot of growing to do, he was coming from a MAC school, so he had a long way to go, he isn't like Brady who comes from a big program with a big time coach.PK: Your with another new offense, how will this help you and Charlie?BE: Last year we were a run first team and we couldn't run, that put Charlie in a bad position. This year we will do more passing on first down. I will be lining up all over this year (if I had a dime for every time a heard a WR say this).PK: I'm a friend of Romeo's, do you think he deserves an extension?BE: Both Charlie and Romeo should be judged starting now, both got thrown into a bad situation. Charlie basically had no protection, with his feet, he felt like he could make plays, but he is not Vick, he needs some protection.
  11. I'm not going up until the Blue Angels are done.
  12. "[brady] Quinn threw consecutive balls into a brisk wind that could be described charitably as wounded ducks. Each ball looked to hit a brick wall in midair and plummet, one far short of the intended and uncovered receiver. Quinn compensated on the next pass and overthrew a receiver.''-- Cleveland Plain Dealer veteran Browns beat writer Tony Grossi, observing Brady Quinn's first mini-camp practice Friday in Berea, Ohio.source
  13. Savage traded two picks, a round 1 and a round 2 within two years.Ditka gave up eight future picks for the right to draft Heisman winner Ricky WilliamsThe Herschel Walker Trade was the largest player trade in the history of the National Football League. The trade involved 18 players and/or draft picks
  14. Quinn's competition last year was Army, Navy and the Air Force.Frye was playing the Steelers, Ravens and Bengals. They even showed a few Browns games on TV last year.Good comparison.

  16. Listening to former GM Pat Kerwin on Sirius today speaking of BQ contract.Expect BQ to take 22 pick money made voidable after 1 or 2 years that will pay him like a top ten pick.Pat said he talked to BQ and BQ expects to start day one.He said Tom Condon is the one that worked Matt Lienart contract, don't be surprised if there is a BQ holdout that might hurt him (best chance for superman).
  17. I wonder if the fact that Charlie gets a big bonus for being the starting QB this year will play into the decision?I would guess yes, they will figure out how to get him that bonus (it's really not very big), and then turn it over to BQ.This way they (the Browns) look like good guys.
  18. If Trent Green is worth a fourth rounder right now, what is Charlie?
  19. I wonder what kind of contract superman could sign if the Browns cut him.I realize that's not happening, but I wonder what kind of contract he would get.I wonder which teams called?
  20. Visits to NFL teams make Zips guard Alleman eager for upcoming draft By Terry Pluto (click here)
  21. Keep in mind, every team in the NFL would like to trade down and pick up extra draft picks.
  22. According to the draft value board that move would cost the Vikings their 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick to move from 7 to 3.I don't see that happening. He might be there at 7 anyway. The picks between the Vikings and Browns probably are not picking a QB and the Vikings know that. This would also require Childress admitting that he was wrong on Tarvaris Jackson, who they gave up a lot to acquire a year ago.Who knows though, the Vikings might just let the clock run out and not pick.
  23. Good point. I remember the Bears and Saints. I can't remember the names though.
  24. Because we NEVER had a D. There are three parts to the game, and defense is the most important. They even have a saying about it.I was so excited to hear JD when he took over say "we are going to run a D like no team in the MAC has ever seen"I'm giving this D one more year to produce before I start to question it. I'm not impressed thus far by this scheme.Sticking to the topic, I AM somewhat surprised to see so many LO guys contributing, but what is the alternative? The other reason maybe that JD wants to red shirt young guys to get as many of his guys used to the system? But then you take Harvey, and that's out the window.
  25. maybe thats something the marching band can pick up ---------------------------PHILIP MORRIS ---------------------------If he actually touches a ball as a Zip in a game, I'm making shirts.
