Its a slow process unfortunately, you have to have a winning team to draw the attention. It was a lot easier with basketball, but soccer still carries some cachet. I try to talk to team up to anyone I know, especially UA alumni. A national title will help, at least it will be some recogniton. But in 1986 we made it to the National final and still not a lot people know that.We have HAD winning teams year after year. This is the first time we've ever been this good before. Nobody in their right mind should see us as being a one-hit-wonder type of team. A look at our roster and where they all came from is a clear indication that we are a consistent winner and bring in the best talent year after year.What we need now, more than anything, is for ABJ to start covering more soccer matches. Hopefully this will stir the interest of the public and may even get more area coverage.

It seemed quite small during the OSU tourney game last year.Im not sure of the field's specific dimensions, but i think it felt "small" because of how close the fences are to the soccer lines.

I wish we had something like this for Akron athletics though...Maybe the Marketing Dept can pull footage from the Morgan State game and produce one? Oooooh...that'd fire me up!Not gonna argue that one at all... but im talking about some of our sports that actually WIN games... I hear the mens and women's soccer teams are winning a few games. I also hear the men's basketball won a lot of games last year too...

Will we win another game?I want to believe we will. I want to sit here and say we will because we have the talent to do it. The problem is the people with the headsets on. I know blaming the coach may come off as ignorant to other factors, but I really do feel this coaching staff is letting us down on too many levels. Considering the remaining schedule, I see us winning 2, maybe 3 more games. However, this "prediction" is largely based on the hope that the more practice Nicely gets, the more comfortable and confident he will become with the team. However, considering the season thus far, I can just as easily see us dropping the rest of our games. Its tough to say it, but it's something I have to accept as a very real possibility. If anything, I just want to win the Can't game. To be brutally honest, all the other remaining games are insignificant to me because our season, in my opinion, is dead. Winning the Can't game will at least make me feel we were able to do something right, even if it was someone who is just as bad as we are. Re: Coaching Staff Status...JD better know there's a raging fire under his seat right now. These last 4 games have been embarassing, to be kind about the matter, and I am growing tired of the underachievement of this coaching staff. I believed this season JD could turn the ship around and do something good for the university, but he has let me down, and just about every one of us, time and time again. JD, get your act together because its time to "nut up or shut up". The seasons of hopes and dreams has been reduced to the season of anger and disgust, and frankly JD is largely to blame here. Anything more than a 3-9 season would come as a shock to me.
