  1. Talked to some people and the water tower prank was definitely the from the genius that is the AK-ROWDIES. lol
  2. what are you talking about? I dont see this is as a way for the University of Akron to defy a federal law at all... If you believe that this DNA check is merely a disguise for the university to discriminate against minorities, you might want to get a reality check... I think that may be much more far fetched than you would like it to be.
  3. STZ, I want to believe this is all on the coaching. I can't see us NOT having talent here. Hell, as Nicely has shown us, we do have talent. Its the coaches that seem to be lacking the ability to tap into all of the talent each of our players have. I also want to think that our coaching staff continually chooses the wrong player for the position as we were forced to witness through Jaq. I hate to say it, but some coaches would rather play a favorite than who's most qualified.Would a coach like Pete Carroll immediately start winning here? It's hard to say, but I would think he would have won a lot more games this season with our current team than JD has. JD has made a lot of poor coaching decisions, sometimes making none at all, and its shown with our abysmal record this year. Good coaches are able to put the best men on the field and win games with whatever talent they have. JD is not one of those coaches.
  4. How about a search before trying to crack a joke?just a suggestion
  5. I will talk to the guys running the AK-Rowdies to see what is going to be allowed as far as noisemakers. I have some vuvuzelas and an air horn I plan on bringing.Im also interested to hear what advertising RLH has been doing to get residents to the game...
  6. To be honest, I didn't even know it worked...What it appears they did was did a redirect to www.uakron.edu. If you ask me, thats the best way to do it. www.uakron.edu is, in my opinion, a little bit more proper and makes sure people don't break any links that may be using the www.Thinking about it some more, I know for a fact it must be a subdomain issue. I know there are at least 3 different public webservers and they tend to get into hissy-fits when they dont communicate properly. If you are careful enough when browsing the site, youll actually see 3 different versions. The newest one (uakron.edu homepage style) is run on a dotCMS server, the old UA homepage and everything styled like it runs on a custom webCMS system programmed by a UA factulty member, and then anything that shows up with the subdomain www3. is a webpage predating everything else.
  7. I work in the department that handles this, so I'll chime inI dont know. Ive asked about it before to our department head and I didn't get a clear answer as to why and if it would ever be fixed. If I were to hazard a guess, however, I believe that the DNS server has issues with resolving the name without a subnet identifier, especially with all the servers and subdomains we run. Gozips.com is a separate entity and is outside the control of UA. Its a site that is managed by the Athletics department and hosted outside of UA (unlike uakron.edu which is hosted on UA mainframe servers).
  8. As requested by Dave in Green...Answer the poll on how you think the rivalry is in its current state. Discuss as will.
  9. I am in agreement here. A successful FCS coach would be a perfect fit for our program right now. It wouldnt be a drastic change in size and talent level and he would probably be able to succeed rather quickly. Personally, not every successful coordinator is a good head coach. In fact, Id be willing to bet most aren't. There are exceptions, both in the NFL and FBS, but I believe this to generally be true.
  10. Not to mention people who have had sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coworkers who went to the two schools

  12. Our defense played well for 3 quarters. Nicely played just as well for the entire game. I put the majority of the blame on our WRs cheating us out of 2 BEAUTIFUL TD passes. Given NIU's heavy running attack, it was a matter of time before our D wore down and started giving up big plays. I saw a lot of good tackling today, but because they were stuck on the field so much and so often, they were dead by the 4th.
  13. as much as I hate to say it, but I am doubting we can even do that.
  14. This is all well and good... but the REAL pressing question is this:Will they build another hill behind the west goal so the rowdies can be on both ends?!
  15. I love the bread factory... On those cold winter days when the wind is coming out of the north (inevitably also the days when we get tons of snow), all you can smell is the fresh bread all over north campus.
  16. Great to hear.... but the last thing our campus needs is MORE buildings... at least thats what I think.Im guessing such expansion would require the university to purchase more properties surrounding the campus...
  17. No, 40 years of hate is hard to turn off with one trip to a casino. And no, no move to Lancaster Co.....or Sugarcreek.....or Charm......or Wooster.not so much in wooster as much as the surrounding small townsgo to Middlefield, OH and let me know how many Amish you see there :Pand while we're on the subject...
  18. not to beat a dead horse here, but coaching is the reason.Teams with a good coach and leaders on the team persevere through adversity. Teams without good coaches and leaders on the team do not. Simple as that.It looks like you don't care much for JD as a coach, which is fine. But, your comments here just don't make sense.First, you say that good coaches (referring to Can't) help teams get through adversity. When did Can't's coach suddenly become classified as good? Overnight?Secondly, you say that leaders (referring to Can't) help teams through adversity, and it's already been mentioned that Can't has already lost two of its biggest leaders this year. Not denying that... and honestly, you're right.I was just implying they've overcome their mediorcity through leaders emerging from the team when theirs went down for the season and through coaching that does everything possible to win games... things I haven't seen from our team.
