  1. I didn't to stick my head in this argument, but I am going to.\<rant>Honestly, I don't give a crap what someone's star rating is. Just because someone is a 4 star rating player doesn't mean they are going to be starting by their second year. SO WHAT if that player only had offers from non BCS schools? Its not like their future success depends on how many big name schools try to recruit them. People around here need to stop for a minute and pull the splintery 2x4 out of their a$$es and realize that we have no say in who gets recruited and what their star ratings are. I put my trust in our coaching staff to continually look at prospects and try to find the ones that work best for our system, as should all of you. I won't worry a single bit over our recruits. I don't care who they recruit. I just want a team that will put in 60 minutes of hard work and will give me some victories. I couldn't care less WHO they are. I care about what they can do.</rant>
  2. he's got a point. I see it as more as flattery than a slap to the face. If Can't wants to give us money so they can try to pull some students from us, so be it. It's not like we're losing on this deal. As someone photoshopped in another thread... Instead of can't using their slogan "Excellence in Action", it really should be "Excellence in Akron"...
  3. wait, are you talking about that stuff laying down on the lower west bowl? I'm not sure those are seats.Just what do you think they are? They already were installing the supports for seats and why would they lay anything else in that area?I'm betting those are the first of the lower level bleachers. It just looks to me like they have layed beams down there. Some of them are too long and others are too short to actually seem as thought they belong down there.I saw a recruiting picture and they were at the stadium a couple of weeks ago on gozips.com.The supports the bleachers will sit on were already installed. I just can't see them laying beams or anything else down there given those supports had been installed. But, the bleachers themselves.I could be wrong. But, leave beams on the field. Why put them in the lower section and risk damage to remove them?Theyre not going to install the bleachers now. Maybe once the upper section is completed..As for laying the beams on them... I am not convinced the beams are laying on the actual bleacher supports. Remember, those L brackets are only about 6" long whereas each seating level is about 28" (front to back). If I was in the area, I'd go walk by and see for myself, but I am willing to bet the beams are only laying on the concrete floor and NOT those supports. Also, putting the beams there is somewhat advantageous not only because there isn't a lot of room on the stadium floor to store them, but also because it puts the beams in an easy and convenient place for the crane to pick them up.
  4. wishful thinking. Id be surprised if their coach agrees to schedule a game with us in the next 5 years.
  5. Im gonna have to go with ZW on this one.
  6. If I had done a complete copy and paste, it would have been too vulgar Oh yes... very much so. Even without the vulgarities, its still ridiculously hilarious.
  7. Correct. Manny's will probably be torn down late March, but God knows when the Morrison house will get tanked.
  8. Kindof wondering that myself .. figuring this is a spoof of our recently MIA commander.I'm Sergeant Zip, your senior board instructor, from now on you will speak only when spoken to, and the first and the last word out of your filthy sewers will be "Sir". Do you understand that? *** Sir. Yes Sir! ***I can't hear you. Sound off like you got a pair! *** Sir. Yes Sir! ***If you ladies post on my board, if you survive board training, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of posting praying for Zips Nation topics. But until that day you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human beings. You are nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian excrement. Because I am hard you will not like me. But the more you hate me the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair. There is no posting bigotry here. Here you are all equally worthless. And my orders are to weed out all non-hackers who do not pack the gear to serve in my beloved Board. Do you maggots understand that? *** Sir. Yes Sir! ***The deadliest weapon in the world is a Zips Fan and his CPU. It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in Zips Nation. Your CPU is only a tool. It is a hard heart that posts. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not post. You will become a dead User ID and then you will be in a world of hurt because Zips Fans are not allowed to die without permission. Do you maggots understand?*** Sir. Yes Sir! ***You, sir, win the internet for the quoting of Full Metal Jacket. Congratulations.
  9. I should correct myself. It's actually 1 down, 3 to go. Still have Manny's place, the place next door, and that house that can't be torn down because of the ethics charges on a UA trustee and whatnot...
  10. I really hope Judge spicer sides with UA on this one. To this day I cannot get my head around how one person can be so selfish. He's already got a new place to move to, he's going to get money, and he already got eminent domain immunity for 15 years. What the hell else does he want? Next thing we know, he's going to be asking for exclusive sinage on the stadium or something like that. Honestly, I don't think he is going to get anywhere with this anyways. The settlement was made and agreed upon and I can't see any judge anywhere allowing him to get a lifetime immunity after he's already agreed to the details of the settlement. Its like buying a car for $20k and then going back a week later and telling them you want to buy it for $2k less. All they're going to do is show you the door and tell you to GTFO.Ugh... that guy just needs to go away. He's done nothing but stall the best thing to happen to the city of akron in a long time. Good riddance, sir, good riddance.
  11. I am going to take pictures of Manny's being torn down. I am so sick of looking at that place and knowing that owner has been nothing but a royal pain in the a$$ with this whole process.
  12. hey... lets keep that to yourself, okay?
  13. The ONLY way the construction/road closure would get in your way is if you were A) coming from the west side of akron down exchange, coming from the southeast part of akron, or C) if you were on Buchtel and wanted to cut down to exchange via Spicer.Given where you're going to be coming from anyways (PA), you're more than likely going to be taking I-76 to Rt. 8 NORTH and getting off at the first exit for Carrol St./Buchtel Ave./Market St. at which point you would make an immediate left onto Carrol heading towards either the East Campus parking deck or the parking lots behind ONAT or the JAR.And just because I'm a nice guy, I even put together a little map for ya
  14. They are closing it closest to the construction site from Vine to Exchange. All that means is that you cant get to the parking decks directly from exchange.A slight inconvenience, I would assume.
  15. answer: neither.Plain and simple, they couldn't get it done when it mattered most. Doesn't matter how they played the entire game, when it all was on the line, they couldn't make the shots they needed to make. To me, neither of those losses is more "impressive" than the other because they are both losses. They very easily could have been victories, but alas weren't. As a fan, I'm really left with the question of whether this team has the drive to make any kind of late-season push to make it somewhere in the MAC tourney.
  16. im confused by espn's game cast... they show the score as 56-56, but the gamecast chart shows Akron 56, Ohio 53.....**edit**guess they went to overtime and espn didnt update in time...
  17. He's quick, he's slick, he'll kick you in the . Steve Sweich, Steve Sweich.wow.... just....wowAnyways, this looks to be a real good game. Id really love to see the guys win this one and build some momentum going into the Can't game. Winning 2 in a wide open MAC, and especially tough East, would go a long way.
  18. It angers me too, skip-zip. I will be sitting there watching the news, the sports segment will come on and I'll more often than not hear more about CSU than I wikk about Akron. Now, we have to give credit where credit is due. CSU DID beat Syracuse and that deserved them airtime. We should also give credit to them because they have been having quite a bit of success while we have not. Cleveland news stations/papers/etc. are very much bandwangoners and are the biggest reason the majority of fans are too. They'll only do reports on teams doing well (save for cleveland pro teams, but that's not the point here). If we win some more games, pull off some upsets, we too will be getting quite a bit of airtime...and on topic...I would LOVE to see a CSU/Akron matchup. It'd really be an overall great thing for the Cleveland region and would expose to the general populous the wealth of talent we have in our area.
  19. This discussion is all well and good, but has anyone been able to confirm this?
  20. Man... if I didn't have a class from 5 to 6:30, I'd definitely make the drive.
  21. Turns out this isnt for the super bowl. It's going to be aired tomorrow during the conference championship gamesHere's the leaked youtube video of the commercial.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0nia6a8dnk
  22. Well, if you think it's bad there, you should be in Hawai'i. The governor shut down all schools and told state workers to stay home today, because of a high wind warning! I can't believe what whimps these people are. I had to walk to school through snow up to my waist!what constitutes a "high wind warning" for you?
  23. If I wasnt a student, I'd definitely be bidding on this. At its current price, its worth EVERY penny
