I think it just goes to show how bright the future is, and am I surprised? No not really. We are a team that will be a force to be reckoned with, and players realize that. I'm not sure how Black stacks up, but I know he won't be overlooked. This is where it pays off to have a top-notch coaching staff who knows talent when they see it.

Wow that's interesting his preferred choice is to Akron. I'll leave it up to the coaches to rate his potential. Feel like Akron can play favorites at this point

is obama coming or something? Didn't realize they are calling it that.(P and M arn't even close man!)...and arn't isn't a word but I'm not ripping you a new one!I hope the home opener offers some hope for the home-grown construction workers who want to go home to their wife hope....oh and so I post something worthwhile
-
Im hoping they just wanted to enjoy the weather, but yes interesting. I'm sure they have deadlines to meet before the hope opener.

I agree, the goal for next year should be an NCAA tourny win.

Heres what I think people will come away with:“It used to be known as the rubber capitol of the world before the plants closed and moved away; today it’s known as the home of Lebron James.”I'm not sure if this is good or bad. I could go either way really. For the most part, I'd like to think Akron is improving with Lebron's help and not because of it.Lebron stated Akron was maintatin'...I'd like to think otherwise. Guess we'll just have to create some more positive news!Lets go Zips!PS. I'll give the story a C. Nothing a wiki article wouldn't have told me.

I'm pretty sure that was a lot of people's thinking toward Zeke as well.Just so you don't get the wrong idea, by dreaming I meant drooling over the possibility. Nothing negative.Though when you put it that way, I don't wanna get my hopes too high either. There's no doubt he'll get to visit a program thats building. (Just have KD, Zeke, and Lebron meet him at the stadium)...Ok now I'm dreaming...

And the dreaming continues...

Put in Zippy..he made a layup at the mascot game. I wanna see Bardo do that! His vision might not be that great but his defensive presence is...oh God wait, Zippy's a girl!

LBJ Arena hmmm... I personally like the Lebron Center
-
yeah what happens when we lose to them the start our home season, won't that be embarrassing? That would destroy the whole season in terms of fan support.Let me be the first to say: I hope we don't lose to them. I see what you're saying, and thats why its important for everyone to remember its a game and not a test run. If our home opener was still IU, and we lost, would we lose supporters then? Better question: If we played IU and won would we loose any fans?

Now theres an idea that I feel could work out sooner rather than later: If the city would help fund a large scale multipurpose arena the possibility of minor league teams (hockey, indoor football), concerts, and of course Akron basketball could be quite the spark (there will always be bad PR). I was reminded of the arena in my hometown Erie PA, and realized that you're right Roo, there really isn't a venue to host events in Akron.

Zip N' Dots, I have supported what you are saying on many occasions believe me. I would not be attending this University if I felt it lacked strong academic programs. We both know improvements are being made and the potential is great, but the view of many outsiders is much different. From a PR standpoint I feel an arena would raise more than a few eyebrows. Also, excess funding should not be entirely spent on athletics (aka my enjoyment). A more positive reaction would surely come from something like a medical school. I agree with your points, yet want to reinforce the fact that we need to continue our rapid improvements of all programs!PS. I would love a new arena...just don't see it happening for a few years. (See soccer)

Looks like a pretty nice schedule to me. Seems very fitting of where the team is at. Also, it gives students like myself no excuse not to show up in hoards for the home games and cheer their brains throats out...lets keep the advantage over Can't students
-
I would have liked to brag about the top-notch football teams coming to play Akron this year. Might have to bite my tongue when I invite friends to this one.Would have much rather had a close, hard fought, memorable win. I suppose I will be happy with just a win, however.
-
I are agree! But seriously, yes I know there are many important aspects when it comes to bringing in new students. When it all boils down, however, we'd get a bad rep. if we had championship sports programs and pizza delivery as a major. It would be a bad PR move. But who says we can't have both top class academic and athletic programs?

I believe that KD and the staff are doing a great job working with the talent they are fortunate enough to have. I'll give the players loads of credit here too! KD has a plan and results really don't lie. We have shown continued progress over the last few years, and hopefully will keep raising the bar for many more. I love the direction Akron basketball is heading. /\ | Reflecting on more than a few occasions I understand the fine line we walk. Imagine what we would be talking about if we lost to a lackluster Toledo team (perhaps the same things we are now, but I honestly think not). Things change in an instant, be it a shot or 1.5seconds. You never know what will happen! The point is, we won that game, taking advantage of opportunity and playing our hearts out. Down to the wire games like this can bring a team together, allowing them to play at another level. We should schedule games that help the program to grow, games that challenge our young guys and force them to keep their heads. Success is something to grab onto, not to let slip through your fingertips

No offense but I would hope more money is spent on classroom space. Remember why students come here?I was only making a joke..people would see Akron's goal as misguided to say the least. My point: I doubt we're getting a new basketball arena even though I would personally love it. Come on guys....
-
proof that we need more class space...omg what am I saying

Stadium Mock-up from Osborne Design
WinZip replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Wow that Creighton stadium is nice way to get me drooling...+=amazing.seems to match quite beautifullyDoubt we have that kinda money and we need some class space first, but hey: I can dream right?! -
Bring in some nice competition with a little spice...and did I mention win, that'll keep the fans coming back. Good atmosphere and a little friendly tension never hurt anyone. I'm expecting slightly larger crowds next season. I'm expecting some nice energy going into next year: with a great returning team and the possibility that Zeke can contribute a little ( ). I'm really crossing my fingers too that the JAR gets a little bit of a touch-up. My predicted avg. attendance: 3,500

PS. If we win... good things will come, enough said. I don't wanna settle for the NIT with a NCAA caliber team.
