  1. They say everything happens in threes...Maybe that's it.
  2. -Stadium Staff/University- don't jack up the ticket prices to the prime games. Nothing says "money grubber" quite like that.
  3. My biggest concern is players and coaches dropping like flies. The 2006 Cincinnati Bengals are looking at the Zips saying "That team's a mess".Whether the NCAA steps in, or the school just flushes the staff and starts over, this isn't going to end well.
  4. The next Cincinnati Bearcats. I like your thinking. With enrollment growing every year, several sports titling in the MAC, with continued growth why not build toward that?
  5. I thought so!!!! He couldn't throw a spiral in the second half to save his life and that took us right out of the game.
  6. I tell you what, a LOT of people are turned off by the school jacking up the prices for the Indiana and Can't State games. And to consider Indiana a "Big Ten" team, please. Technically it is. But not quite the Big Ten we want to see...
  7. Carlton Jackson DOH!!!
  8. Have you seen the estimates on the needed maintenance and refurb to the Rubber Bowl? Not to mention the sponsorships?
  9. I see your point, been there too.But you gotta admit, it's awful hard to recruit a BCS quality player to play in a sewer with no hot water in the showers in November and nails on the wall for lockers. Where you practice outside in November.Like I said, it's all about perception. Building in OSU's shadow is hard enough, let alone trying to sell THOSE facilities...IMO we overachieved in 2005, with the Spread O and the 3-3-5 D and a wing and (answered) prayers. And catching lightning in the bottle is harder the second time. You gotta change how you are percieved before you can recruit. And it's all paying off already.
  10. No, Jac-a## lost it for us.Was Rogers hurt in the second half? He couldn't throw a spiral, something was wrong.
  11. We need a little more depth at QB before we start putting them in that situation...
  12. I went last week, but couldn't afford to go this week too. We can sit and compare our new house to every other stadium in the world, but does it REALLY matter? Is it the best thing to happen to Akron in many many years? Is it the best college venue in northeast Ohio? Nicer and more comfortable than the Horseshoe? Not the same atmosphere, but definately nicer. I rank it right up there with, or better than Canal Park. They replace the old pit with a first class facility, and some people complain because it's not the Taj Mahal. I don't get some people. Like winning the Lotto and complaining about the tax...And I stand up for the MAC on other forums against the Buckeye honks. In case someone wasn't paying attention, a MAC team beat Michigan State last week, and two others stayed within 4 points of B10 teams. We were in the Indiana game until Rogers started throwing wounded ducks at the Hoosiers (why couldn't he throw a spiral in the second half? Was he injured?). That put our defense on the field over and over with little rest and a short field. If our "starter" wasn't such an Ahole, that game might have been different. Anyway, the years of watching B10 teams run up 70+ on us are gone. The MAC is catching up to the bottom half of the Big Ten. I smell a bowl win this year, we came within a hair last year.I think the attendance will come when we start bringing in recruits and more big teams. The practice facilities and new on-campus stadium will only help with recruiting. We'll get a footballo version of Zeke Marshall type talent and that will set it off. This is a football hotbed, we just need to do something to grab the attention of the people who live and breath with the program 150 miles down the interstate. It's all about perception.JD, still haven't decided yet. I respect him as a coach and a man, I like him. But he has to win. A new stadium, along with the success of the basketball and soccer programs, he needs to win. JD has already scored at least one highly rated recruit from the sweater vest, I hope he's here to coach him.To sum it up, patience. OSU wasn't built in a day.
  13. Yes we need the Big Ten to return to prominence. That way it makes us look that much better when we blow the crap out of a B10 team!!! Way to go, Central Michigan!!!! We're next!!!!
  14. That was the most incredible thing I have seen in Akron in a long long time. And I'm old.To have a first class venue like this, and have it on campus, this takes the whole university to the next level. Not just the football program. Anyone visiting the campus or being recruited to play here is going to be blown away. They did a good job choosing the opponent as the team looked a little tight at the start, and a major program would have jumped all over that. The team they picked lets the players get some hits, get into the game, and it was a positive experience for everybody. They should be a lot more ready for Indiana.Traffic wasn't a problem, everyone thought parking would be a disaster but that worked out well IMO. Things could have been better organized, but the U has never put on a program of this magnitude, and did a superb job. A few minor problems here and there, typically these types of events go badly. We never saw any security issues. All in all it went smoother than a lot of other sporting events we've been to.We will be back!!!
  15. That never bothered me, as it makes it easier to get to my car, and easier to get my car on the highway!!! I noticed the east stands started emptying out long before the west stands did. It wasn't hot but the sun was pretty strong all game. That and the game being a blowout caused a lot of people to leave. Not to mention a number of students who were drunk beyond walking and were helped out of there.
  16. Why was the hockey season cancelled mid-season?And better yet, why did nobody update the website so that potential fans wouldn't schedule a Saturday afternoon outing and drive to the rink only to find it locked up?
  17. Cleveland State University in basketball. We should be playing them at least once a year. Two teams with hopes for a conference win and spot in the Dance every year. A local TV station televising and some marketing, and you have a very interesting game.Take the annual baseball game a step further. Play at the Q and all proceeds go to charity. If Akron wins, they go to Akron Children's Hospital. If Cleveland wins, they go to Rainbow Babies and Children's. Play it up big.
