  1. We need to take smarter shots. They're just chucking up crap instead of moving it around.
  2. We're taking control of this one guys
  3. The Buckeyes player who was supposedly fouled should be on the dive team. Tough to beat the legacy conference opponent and the officials in the other team's arena.
  4. Remember when the football team decided to replace the HC and we got the illustrious Icoach era. Be careful what you ask for.
  5. One is for "fans" who want Coach D fired.
  6. Dang. I can't imagine how bad these guys would want him fired if he didn't have the best record in the MAC...
  7. Stay. He is not going to run to a higher paying program the minute the team has success. He is probably the best recruiter in the MAC. The results haven't always shown that, as every year there seems to be the one key player get arrested or injured and the rest put up a valiant effort but can't close the deal. A lot of people get on Dambrot for not winning NCAA tournament games, but when has a MAC team won? I don't remember seeing Ohio or Buffalo in the Sweet 16 recently. When you're a MAC school, you get treated like a MAC school with bogus "bracketology" seeding (and that reflects in the ability to recruit). It's not a level playing field and we all know it. Until the day a Zips team stays healthy (and out of jail) and goes deep a couple times, that's the stigma the MAC is stuck in.

  9. The Akron-AAUP has announced that a strike authorization vote will take place March 7-11. https://academeblog.org/2016/03/03/strike-authorization-vote-imminent-at-the-university-of-akron/ AKRON, Ohio – March 3, 2016 – The American Association of University Professors, University of Akron Chapter (Akron-AAUP) has announced to faculty that a strike authorization vote of the union membership will take place from March 7 – March 11, 2016. This announcement comes after more than a year of negotiations. An affirmative vote would give the union’s leadership the authority to call a strike at an appropriate time. “The University apparently has the time and money to devote to re-branding and other unproven initiatives while at the same time neglecting its core academic mission,” said President of the Akron-AAUP, Dr. John Zipp, Professor of Sociology. “It’s time the faculty had the opportunity to show our resolve to win a fair contract, a contract that will enable us to provide the best educational opportunities for our students. This vote will allow us to do so.” As of March 3, 2016, the University administration is asking faculty to absorb the costs of failed administrative policies and actions by accepting a contract with no increases in compensation and notable decreases in health and retirement benefits. These proposals come in the wake of the hiring of new administrators, in some cases with salaries almost $100,000 higher than their predecessors, as well as expenditures on a number of new initiatives. The Akron-AAUP and its members are primarily concerned with the University’s lack of continued investment in its academic mission, and the impact that the current proposals by the university would have on faculty retention, new faculty hires, and most importantly, on the quality of education offered to University of Akron Students.
  10. Sounds like they just cruised to the win. What the heck, they don't ask "how", just "how many" you win.
  11. Mine's down too. Was thinking the same thing. Think small, be small.
  12. Who to root for? Columbus has three Zips alumni and is the home team. Portland has Caleb and three player alumni. Columbus has a Cup (2008), and home field. Portland doesn't. Guess I'll root for the Zips. Can't lose.
  13. Well that was three hours of my life I'll never get back.
  14. Scar made the morning news, with a story about students planning a protest.
  15. glad I had to work tonight.
  16. Wouldn't notice him except for his constant assault on the English language.
  17. Now Cribbs is ragging on the Browns for their lousy draft picks. Like signing him?
  18. Instead we bring in Pohl
  19. I keep wondering why the color is going out on my TV. What were they thinking putting down gray turf?
  20. Halftime Akron up 40-14. A great day to roll up 60 on someone.
  21. An easy way to track Zips alumni and reference those no longer active. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/index.cgi?key_school=bf479b5c&exact=1&query_type=key_school
  22. I agree, Oklahoma and LaLa are paydays, Pitt is a neat local rivalry I hope continues. They certainly travel well. If they had a choice they would have led off with the cupcake game, but this must not have been possible. The REAL season starts October 3, the conference schedule is very favorable, that's when it counts. I like playing tough opponents that are better than us, they expose areas that need addressed. They prepare us for the BG's and hopefully Toledo's and bowl game opponent. I don't agree with playing a cupcake schedule to be bowl eligible, because I think bowl games see right through that. And if you do go to a bowl game, you don't belong there and that will be very evident. Hopefully they use the Ok collapse and the Pitt debacle as a tool to improve and get ready for the MAC. If they do, I feel sorry for Savannah St. A little.
  23. Agreed, I forgot those. This is all stuff that worked before. It would be understandable if this was the first football game ever, but come on. This place has been open for FIVE YEARS and didn't have these problems. I mentioned coffee cups, and that may not seem like a big deal, unless you saw the people who were out in the seats, shivering, a hot cup of coffee would have made the miserable weather and even more miserable play almost acceptable. One Pitt fan quipped all the cups were in the soccer stadium. A Zips fan said "we cut the baseball program, you'dd think we could afford some *** **** coffee cups." If it were only one or two things, that would have been almost understandable. But taken as a whole, completely unacceptable. Embarrassing. That was anything but an FBS experience and I am ashamed of what my university looked like to our guests.
  24. Looking at all of the people there tonight, and all of the people from Pitt, and the excitement, I thought THIS was the kind of game we built this stadium for. And I was almost convinced that we really do need to get into a better conference. Then I got in line for tickets, and it went 3/4 the way across the north end of the stadium. And it moved sloooooooooooooooooooooow. If you want to sell 20,000 tickets, you might want to make it possible to sell 20,000 stinkin' tickets. Part of the problem was the away will call at gate 3 was swamped and people were complaining. But again, they expected 20,000, and were ill prepared for 10,000. Then we get inside the stadium after the game started, and the scoreboard is all jacked up. Part of it wasn't working right, part wasn't working at all, and the video kept stuttering. Did they wait until 30 minutes before the game to turn it on for the first time since November?? Then we have all these fans here, something we always wished for, and the concession stand didn't have any cups for coffee. What the hell????? One Pitt fan joked they were all in the soccer stadium. It's like he knew the pecking order in the Athletic Dept. I'm embarrassed. Think small, be small.
